The minimum wage was raised and 9000 jobs were not lost. How is this woman still considered relevant considering how wildly hyperbolic her claims about raising the minimum wage are.
Intuition certainly makes us think that but what really happens is that big corporations can afford to pay more by taking advantage of economies of scale. Think WalMart.
Most small companies will pay at or closer to the minimum wage than their larger counterparts.
i understand her point with the potential for benefit and job losses, but then again from what i've seen, the vast majority of companies who pay minimum wage are chain stores and big business, not the small businesses. my honest opinion is that it's just corporations using small and salary-based businesses as an excuse to stop this.
