i have i small lathe and am looking to build a little steam engine like that but i have a hard time finding plans if anyone could help that would be great.
I'm impressed, this is the smallest micro air engine I've seen yet. Any idea on how much power it puts out? Perhaps you could drive a little boat for hours with a paintball HPA tank and regulator.
I am assuming i am writing to the maker of this little wonder? Could you tell us the currancy of the coin please so i can figure the scale a little better, i am currently making a 1 and 3/4 inch mini monster.... still some time till compleation though!
Hi. Yes I made this little engine. The currency of the coin showing is one Euro and for your reference, the brass base is 1 inch and the total height of the engine included base is 1.38 inch. The flyweel is 0.6 inch, piston is about 0.2 inch
I wonder what it could power.

I haven't seen this design before, was it something you designed yourself?

No, the plans for this and other very good engine, are from "Elmer's Engine" book author Elmer Verburg.

Looks to be the same type of engine used in those "Air Hogs" air planes that they useto have.
salemcripple 4 years ago
na this is ocilating. airhogs has a pin on the cylinder that would push open a valve to let air in on the top stroke.

Very nice, I like this :-) You should try a rotary air motor, no pistons.

what is it powered on?
where does the air pressure coming from?
blinkybill85 4 years ago
For my engines I use the air compressor of my shop. The pressure here is about 0.5 bar.
