  • just found out that there are midi guitar's out there....my life is changed forever! thanks for posting

  • Wow very kewl!!!

  • Dear Santa...

  • how much did all this cost, apart from the guitar?

  • Comment removed

  • You like that eh?

  • @vanderbilly That was fucking cool man....I'd really love to get that midi thing. Btw, nice shorts too.

  • That sounds awsome!!!!

  • WHICH PLUGIN ARE YOU USING GET THE SAX ? THANKIS

  • HOW THE FUCK CAN I MAKE MY GUITAR DO THIS? WHAT MUST I PURCHASE?

  • You just need a synth, a midi pickup and a month to figure out how to make it work. I'm not very familiar with it but I heard that Fractal Audio makes a really cool pre amp called Axe-FX (I think that's it) that has tons of sounds. Expensive though.

  • @vanderbilly what kind of midi pick up you use?

  • @saltyshoelace thr gr20 or gr55

  • Nice. I have a GK-3 on my Ibanez, it's so fun.

Are you using the sound patches in the GR-33, or are you using midi from a computer software? I have some stuff in my featured vid with midi sounds from GarageBand.

  • what effects do you use? roland G-33?

  • Useful if you are used to playing guitar. I'm much more used to playing keyboard and so fail and anything with strings :), doesn't stop me collecting them though...

  • what software innstruments are you using? nice work man!

  • Damn that looks like so much fun. You should try using that with RealLPC and Guitar Rig.

  • cool can you play multiple notes at the same time (chord)? i heard that you cant but it looks like you do

  • okay, so im thinking of making my guitar into a midi guitar, does this in theory mean i can then use it as a controller for any synth within my DAW. exactly the same as one would with a keyboard controller? sometimes it seems liek they only work with the software that comes with the usb > midi guitar interface. ie. presets and i hate presets!!!

    thanks

  • Look at my freestyle=) Its short but I tried

  • Nice!

  • ...

  • where did you get the pickup if thats wat ur using?

  • @guitarslf132

Its a midi guitar which you can buy like that.^^

  • v=_WDyAv_NUrY

Here's a affordable software MIDI guitar for the iPhone & iTouch

    A+ MIDI Guitar Controller

  • Just Go Buy The Pigtronix Synthezizer.

  • lovin the sitar

  • that's an electric guitar right?

but how can midi sound played by it?

  • @yooks5 the pickup is specialy made to make six pick ups and the fretboard has notes that transfer into numbers there for midi

  • @rockexpert ohh i see :)

  • 1:50 with the sax was awsomeness!!!!

  • Space Truckin' baby!!!!!!!! Yea

  • the effect can be done with any guitar???

  • The GK-3 is a pickup that has a universal clamp built onto it. Plug a chord into the guitar jack and back into the guitar input on the GK-3.

The GK-3 also has a pickup bar that you have to mount under the strings of your guitar near the bridge. There is a 13 pin cable that plugs into the GK-3.

At this point you have a Guitar Synth signal coming out of the 13 pin connector, and a normal guitar signal coming out of the guitar.

The 13 pin cable goes into a Synth. The Roland GK-33 is a Synth.

    Ron

  • where did you get the guitar to midi adapter? could you share a link of a website of where to get it?

  • @mrsockyman Search for a "Roland GK-3" or a "Roland GK-2".....and all will be shown before your eyes.

  • great what you share

  • Does this work good on the low strings?

  • what program do you use?

  • so let me get this strait....guitar is plugged to the roland g20, the g20 is connected to the computer??

  • how did you do this?, is that a normal electric guitar?? can i do that with my fender stratocaster?? what sofware are you using?

  • cool sounds! I've considered the GR-20 in the past but i'm not convinced its worth $600+ what's your verdict? Is it worth forking out so much money?

  • You are very good.

  • thats amazing! what song were you playing at 1:50? that's my favorite part :)

  • OMFG why did I not know these existed until today? I'm in love! this is EXACTLY what I've always wanted

  • Space Truckin'!!!!!

DUDE... This looks like a lot of fun. I wanna get one of these MIDI signal converters for my bass and plug it into my Moog Taurus III Synthesizer, you reckon i could do that? xD

  • ROFL!!!

    A SAXO?????

    that's nuts man!!!

  • You using a Roland G20 Guitar Synth? Don't they cost like 600 quid?

  • wow thats pretty damn cool! i gotta try one of these!

  • great playing, please what is the time signature you are playing in from 1:00 to around 1:30 with that voices patch?

  • Thanks, that was straight up 4/4

  • @vanderbilly actually I hear 10/8

  • @vanderbilly and where they come from? it's sounds so coool

  • how the hell do you do that?!

  • This is awesome

  • can you do that with a bass too?

  • @wasabihansen (roland.com/products/en/GR-20/) i think so. i really want one myself

  • @wasabihansen yes you just need the bass roland divided pickup..

  • 1.50 min FTW that was fucking awsome

  • amp?

  • what exactly does midi mean? what does it do to the guitar?

  • THATS SICK!!! i love the piano part

  • seeing ppl lyk this iv decided not to buy guitar synth.....he cnt fkin play it!!!!!

  • @TheBlackxism and you cant f*cking spell

  • @AcousticTransmission have u ever heard the term "short form"??

  • @TheBlackxism oh i've seen people type in "short form" often but it still makes you look like a stupid person. i mean is it really that much harder to type out the whole words, the extra like 10 letters.

    fucker

  • @AcousticTransmission if your brain works on wiindows 97 its a problem decephering my short formz!! so my friend next time i write in full form for you ok

  • HOLY S#@&

i need me a midi guitar

  • Though some of the patches sound good.

That voice one sounds like something off of rugrats though.

  • Totally want a GR-20, probably would be better to just use the MIDI out instead of the synth on the pedal.

  • I'm looking to purchase the GK-3, but I can hardly find information about what it connects to. Does the midi signal eventually get converted to a USB-cable that my Mac can recognize as MIDI device, or does this only work with Roland synths?

    Thanks so much!

  • There is a thing called a Roland G10 or G20 (sorry can't remember) that I have and it converts the signal to midi. You have to have that for it to work.

  • @eef2 the cheap way is to get the gk 3 and a little machine called G 120 roland which will produce midi signals detected by computers.Still the g 120 has no sounds except the plain guitar one and transmitt only the signal of the guitar itself. But can be connected to any synt module or synth keybord and access all the sounds that the synth can offer

  • What kind of guitar are you using here and what does it cost?

Would be fun to try it.

  • It's an Ibanez with a Roland midi but any guitar will work as long as you have the pickup and either a real or virtual synth. The guitar just acts as a midi controller.

  • El cheapo Ibanez RG, you can do this with any guitar.

  • @vanderbilly

'El cheapo Ibanez RG, you can do this with any guitar.'

Yes but the hardware you have to do it with is pretty expensive isn't it?

  • @vanderbilly but how?

  • @DanskeSange Its not the guitar that transfers the Midi signal. Its that attached black pickup on the back of the guitar

  • Is the attack delayed at all?

  • It's depends on the patch you are using but yes, slightly. Organs track very well though. Violins sucks, pads are good, drums are just strange but cool and banjos work really well too.

  • @vanderbilly Awesome, thanks for the info!

  • Thanks and BTW I loved your videos.. SFB

  • what saxophone vst or sample are u using ?

    nice video!

  • Nice phrasing

  • lol that sax and that last long one were the coolest :)

  • thats fucking awesome!!!!! i need one of them

  • Hey, this is great. Where are you getting the audio samples from? They sound amazing.

  • Thats freaking awesome what MIDI are you using?

  • how do i do this with my guitar. what programs do i need and what other stuff? this would occupy me for years

  • how did you make your guitar sound like a harmonica

  • Please Could you Tell me what are the equipments needed to do this? Thks

  • what chords are you playing at 2:26 - 2:31?

  • Seriously, what do I need to buy in order to do this??

  • i would love to play some mastodon through the piano

  • are you using gr 20 or gr 33? thanks

  • dude can you tell me how you do that cz i cant hear anything when i plug my mic or guitar into my midi controller but i can still hear all the sound from the keys when i use fl studio or something

  • Dude, you want technical support from me on youtube? Sorry but you will have to go the store where you bought it for help. It took me forever just to figure out my some rig. I would love to help but it would be impossible.

  • @vanderbilly dnt wrry i managed lol

  • @numetaljunkie01

you need a midi guitar pickup

    check out roland

  • Tom Morello can already do all of that with a normal guitar

  • He's the king of tone

  • @vanderbilly you should try the You rock guitar

  • @aydooknow tom morellos fucked if he doesn't have a kill switch

  • @RabidGaming Kill switch isn't all he does (although he does use it a lot; technically it's not a real kill switch, he manipulates two pickup volumes).

  • @aydooknow no, his Digitech Whammy can.

  • @aydooknow tom morello is cool but he cant do grand piano man not like that dude

     XD midi guitar!!

  • ¿COMO HACES ESOOO?

  • Please someone tell me what VSTi that saxophone sound is from!

  • I'm going to buy a midi cord so I can do this with my Zoom G9.2tt pedal. :)

  • how do you do that?

  • i get hoe the touch sensitive ones work, but this is like having a regular guitar plugged into a synthesizer software, so i don't get how playing a note on the string tells it that it is that note exactly :S

  • @aids696969 Piezo system so it pick the pitch of each strings. Look for graph tech ghost piezo and you will find out ;)

  • @angelfr83220 ohh, so its sorta like an ultra fast tuner, then tells the synthesizer the pitch? :D

  • @aids696969 Something like that.

  • whats the name of the song on 4:00 ? i know it from something.....

  • @sjuulmi Woman - Wolfmother. "WOOOOOOMAN!"

  • @Zac8D No it's Space Truckin' by Deep Purple.

  • Can you trigger sampled guitar sounds...like those cool beatles guitars in East West's Fabfour?

How well would they track...would they capture all of the slides, bends and vibratos?

How does bends, slides and vibratos track on regular synth patches?

  • yo vanderbilly, what software do you use to play these sounds??

  • With the right VST:s, this shit is so goddamn awesome that my mind explodes with all the cool possibilities... Liked the saxophone and the sitar! Man I want one of those...

  • name of the pickup / convertor / plugin your usnig please :P

  • @redoubt9000 if anything, if it;s just a pickup I wouldn't mind starting a new guitar project fitting with one of those :P

  • HOW

  • can you do this with a regular guitar?

  • @Gorgoliath the pickup on the guitar is has a separate channel for each of the strings. each channel goes to a computer for pitch detection. the computer sends the information to its enternal synthesizer or through a midi port to a synth or sequencer!

  • SICK \m/

    3:00 , what effect?? : o

  • @hedeep Yeah. I'm sure those things exist. Theres like almost anything u cud think of on the internet now.. I tried searching some and i found something called AKoff. Search it on google and it'll be there.

  • Is this a line 6 variax or a yamaha?I have a line 6 variax and still have no idea how to use it besides the acoustic,12 string and banjo.lol

  • @hedeep its like a pickup you install on to your guitar. It probably does recognize frequencies and convert them into the right notes. Thats my theory but it could be something else since i don't know much about it.

  • its not the pickup its the circuit board inside before evrything goes to output i think

  • does the pick up come off easy so you can use it on other guitars?

and do you have to use the midi pedal with it?

  • piano and flute on guitar, jezzus What´s next?!

However; a very good vid and thanks for posting it

  • have to get that pickup! =O

  • it's not a pickup, but a midi system built in the guitar :)

  • look at the tags, he's obviously using a roland GK-2A pickup in order to be able to use that midi system! B)

  • @Sjejse u sure? looks like a midi pickup hanging off the end there... there ARE midi guitars... Starr Labs makes some really badass ones... and interestingly Yamaha has a self-teaching guitar which is similair

  • @Sjejse no it's not

  • Ha! Loved that Space Truckin' at the end. Lord, I wish I could afford this....

  • how does it cost and what the name of this software or guitar

  • @corriamo

google for Roldand GR 20 incl. GK3 (Pickup)

  • Holy fuck, where can i get that``?

  • He is a good guitar player

  • is that misty on the piano patch?

  • wow awesome!!

  • i could really use one of these

  • doood what the fuck I wanna buy that shit where how?

  • you lucky son of a bitch

  • sweet! XDall of it!

  • Jesus christ man buy a gutiar multi-effects pedal.... ME-70 (BOSS) is great for you, check it out

  • I hate that, just because that guitar sounds interesting or different- doesn't mean it sounds good... (the first part) the rest is pretty funny.

  • es puro pedooo

  • how does it work???? tell me please

  • Simply put? It takes the signal from the guitar and translates it to a trigger, just like when you connect your keyboard to your computer and you are able to play whatever you want... all it is is just timing of triggers being translated from your guitar..

You can make it sound like anything, including guitar of course

  • cool. i like it

  • Sounds like this'd be a bitchin' way to get real-sounding bass playing into a VST...

  • wow awesome sitar sound!

  • GK-2A How much cost?

  • that sounds like shit in the beginning

  • did you plug the GK2a directly into the keyboard?

  • Whoa I've never even heard of a midi guitar till now! This shit just put me in outer space!

  • saxophone sounds awesome

  • Right!!

  • @bambam420425 hell yeah! i agree! I loved the saxophone in Darkshines,it's one of the MUSE Rock band works, and i love it! i think matt added distortion to the saxophone too!

  • 1:00 through 1:29 is the best. the rest is great too. AWESOME!!!

  • nice the piano!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • DO WANT!!

  • do want BAD!!!!

  • I wanna play a drum beat on a guitar!

  • PINCHE CHOLLO ,YEAH
