You beter get watercooling i would not oc it too high on air coolers.

I have the same mobo and cpu. My RAM is 4GB DDR3 1600 @ 1.65 volts. When i use oc genie i only reach 3.41Ghz . So can i just copy your manual oc settings to get a higher cpu frequency ?

its the same company i think, i got a set o ripjaws running in my rig when u first pop em in they run at 1333 but they can be safely be speed up to 1600 i have a p55m-gd45 there is an option in the bios that will automatically speed that up if u have an i7 i dont think it works well with i5s i cant remember what the option is called though. oddly enough i found out about it after reading about some guy complain that the option over clocked his ram

@olivierhacking Yes You need new cooler. Go with one of the Arctic Cooling pro 7 coolers. They are great for the price and will be good to start OC. Good luck

PS: Use good thermal paste! Artic Silver 5 will be very good.

Now i would like a good motherboard to go with that would give me a good stable overclock with usb3... it doesnt need to support sli or crossfire...

@mixmaxdix Go with one of the gigabyte p55 boards and don't buy the h50... is so laud! H70 or Noctua air cooler is the way to go. Dominator ram... hmmm better buy some ocz or g.skill if you take gigabyte board and first take 4gigs, test it (OC) and than try 8. Good luck

85c is way to high i suggest you get a watercooler

30c idle here and max stressed 55c

also i would check if your cooler is mounted correctly your 85c is way to high

when i push oc bution my cpu have 3,6ghz . when i make it down to 3,4ghz with -/+ buttions this sittings dont save.when i restart pc i have 3,6ghz again and when i play game it stuck on 5sek. So i try manual mode, i do all settings like in video i just make memory point 4 , everything work normal 3,4 ghz.

Have you Intel Speedstep Enabled? And what are your temps @ 4.0? Have got the i7 860, too and @ 3.8Ghz I have got temps like 70°C with Prime95 and 38°C at idle. Btw have got the Corsair H50 cooling, I think u use it, too don't you?

I am thinking of getting a Cooler Master V10 Hybrid CPU Cooler for this card, I might overclock is JUST a bit, maybe a .44 of a GHz not much difference just raising it to 3.00, would this effect it long term, and does the CPU still run hard without the overclocking?

First of all nice overclocking video, you got me quite interested in overclocking. I got a question:

Does overclocking reduce the lifetime of a cpu, and if so, is it a big reduction? Or does it maybe increase the chance of the cpu breaking down?

Probably picking this cpu up along with the rest of my new pc this month, but had to work hard for it (student) and don't want to get too risky :)

Hi!

Well overclocking is always at your own risk but You can try to do some small oc steps like buy i7 920 a "push" it from 2.66 to 3.3 or something right. You need to have core temp to check teps after overclocing and make some stress test (prime95) to check stability. Remeber that you need good cpu cooler and yes overclocking can reduce lifetime of cpu but if you will not push yo the limit is not so bad :-D

OMG, mam ten sam procek i ta sama plyte i osiagam stabilne 3,6 na napieciu 1,26v, na 1,35v mozna juz 4GHz osiagnac. Nie rozumiem czemu ustawiasz 1,4v przy oc tylko do 3,6. Sprobuj zmniejszyc napiecia i potestuj stabilnosc.

1.4V should be safe, I was surprised how far the oc genie took cpu up to 3.5 GHz and it was 100% stable! It's great for a automatic oc
