@jlemko Yes for sure he did it better than Tyrone Johnny had that motown sound down pat what a chord player and guitar player and singer lol One of the funniest guys i ever met lol Johnny Dollar was hilarious lol R.i.p. my friend Johnny Dollar
I am 19 and please let me turn back the hands of time so I can go back to the greatest eras 60s and 70s my generation is a waste of time. Kids my age making a big deal about getting killed in xbox than were screwed anyway I love this song
love this song, can anyone put the studio version on here? i remember sitting at Bucks drive in on Tunnel road and listening to this song...wow, what great music was being played on the radio during the early to mid seventies.

He passed away February 9, 2005, I have everything he ever made, I'm sure he's singing in the soul choir with so many others that are now gone, he left a legacy of great music, Thanks TD!
If I'm not mistaken, it was the famous Motown house band "The Funk Brothers" who were the band on the original recording. I think I read there were contractual problems which prevented them from being credited. Can anyone hip me as to whether I'm right or not?
@tomthefunky As far as I know Tyrone used all Chicago musicians. Walter Scott was his guitar player. Walter can be found most Wednesdays at Kington Mines in Chicago in the Kid Dynamite Band). I can't remember his bass players name at the moment but I know he's also around and available for gigs in the Chicago area. All of the musicians on the 1970's recordings are still working around Chicago.
TD was pure soul. He probably did this song 1,000 times. He still put a ton of soul into this at his age. Thanks for posting. [Thanks PBS for preserving all these classic performances. The music of a generation.]
@csebrigh No! unfortunarely not, but he's up in the big sky singing with the best of them. Marvin, Michael, Luther, James Brown etc. Damn, Tyrone was clean than a MF in this video. You could tell he was a true player. I bet he was a lot of fun!
thank you god for giving us a man who could sing so well and gave us his all we miss him only you could pull this off turn back the hands of time. amen
Tyrone couldn't do no wrong when he sang this song, and I love hearing everytime. You gotta give to the girls on this video they did a wonderful job as well. Tyrone Davis is beautiful, every song he sang the tone in his voice, makes you belive he's singing it right to you, I miss Tyrone so much, may God bless his soul.

@Juniorhooker - Johnny Dollar was one of the few that used to really do these tunes justice. JD was one of the most under-appreciated talents ever.
