  • i love this ff3/6 best game ever

  • i wounder if this game exists for iphone... if it does i will buy an iphone ;) i have completed this game 10 years ago, Chrono Trigger did i complete some months after that ;) 2 of the best games i have played :/

  • There's no real point of overleveling early on this game, since you'll lose every stat bonus which you'd get from espers...

  • can you made that on snes station ps2

  • I assume that you said can I do this on PlayStation and yes , the trick works on the PlayStation as well.

  • in the GBA version you can do much more than this - you can even RESET levels... basically it sends you from a new game to the last save on teh file you had a quicksave on. For example, if Terra's level 50 in WoR and I d this glithc, she gets reset to her initial level. Her HP and MP will be icnreased, but other stats remain the same as pre-reset. Damage WILL be reduced for a while due to level being in the calculation. Use this to max stats if you want.

  • Will this work in the PSX version?

  • Yes it will.

  • GBA?

  • Yes and I've done it as well, See the video responses for the GBA version.

  • I guess this is kinda like Game+ on Chrono Trigger

  • Chrono Trigger was the inspiration for this.

  • @thwyter Do your research, VI came out 13 months before Chrono Trigger.

  • I am aware the this game came out before CT.

Chrono Trigger was the inspiration for this with it's "new game +".

  • Awesome! I'll keep this in mind next time I play this game! :)

  • This can be done on the river using banon and an automatic turbo controlloer.

Set controls to "remember" banon to "pray/heal" and edgar to auto crossbow. Choose up the first time it asks which way you want to go. This will put the party in an optional infinite loop fighting a random encounter which edgar will slaughter and banon will heal you every turn.

If you let this run long enough, you will get level 99, and the good thing is, you can do something else in the process.

  • LOL!! You are smart.

Did you know you can do the same trick in Super Mario RPG??

Make this kind of tricks sometimes result fun, but sometimes the trick makes the game pointless and boring.

    Anyways.. Good Job!!

  • I've always loved how your stats actually affect the battle during the flashback cutscene, though it doesn't make any sense that Terra should do that much damage retroactively.

  • Its way too easy IF you use an EMULATOR. If you dont, its hard to believe.

    Nice work, anyway.

  • i too have done this little bit of fun times ^_^ lol so wasnt worth the hours i put in but meh as a gamer its what we do ;-)

nice job on the achievement dude (Y)

  • so you say this only took you ten minutes to accomplish?

  • No and according to the game clock I did it in about 37 hours 48 minutes. Time index 6:38 on the clip.

  • so you didnt save for 37 hours and 48 minutes?

  • That is right. Wasn't hard to do.

  • Great job man. I believe you, it can be done. But it must have taken a lot of effort on it!

  • Isn't it nice that your hard work to bring us a great video is being accused by paranoid Youtube users of being fake?

    Oh well.

I didn't know that your levels were retained when you die. It's kinda cool. :P

I think I'll try something like this next time I'm playing.

  • What's worse is I even tell them how to achieve it to do themselves and still being called a faker. All it is needs is time to make it happen.

  • Actually, she does learn Ultima at level 99.

Look in Gamefaqs's FF3/6 Character FAQ by Meeple Lard and scroll down to the skillset: for Terra.

  • I see, another unbeliever.

You CAN have the spells at the start by doing what I did.

I saved in the Narshe Mine.

I played the game NORMALLY without saving.

I did a bit a leveling on the river,

I reached level 99 in the World of Ruin by fighting in the dinosaur forest.

At that point I purposely died which bought Terra back into the last save point that was recorded - the Narshe Mines.

There is no real trick to it, it's just take time to do it.

  • naw just get a life krazytime

  • wow just shut up safezor

  • I wonder how long it took for you to do this.

  • I spent a Saturday for a few hours leveling up on the river to about L35 and on a snow day from school the remaining levels.

  • except that terra learns magic automatically as she levels up - and so does celes. hey, i got an idea - how about you actually know what you're talking about BEFORE you flame people? might make you look less stupid :D

  • and yeah, seems like vg history isn't so popular among gamers these days...ah, the days of tonics and atma weapons...

  • @arandomusername2 yeah now its about gravity hammers and AK's

  • Say, if I were to use this trick in a fewest steps challenge (by the way, I do know that the thing is valid), do you think that would be cheating? I mean, I'm not using any real cheats.

  • I feel that is NOT be cheating since the manual clearly states that you retain your levels when you die. However, I do not fully know the rules in the fewest step challenge to give you a definite answer.

  • When i played that part my mogs got killed xD

  • This game is the best or second best final fantasy series released. Alot of emotion and ppl in this game died! Good song too but you kinda blow it cuz of game shark -.-

  • I did not use ANY type if cheating. You CAN do it too. It just takes time. I did it on the SNES and the GBA.

  • This is FF6...

  • What do I have to do to prove it you people THAT I DID NOT USE AN EMULATOR??!!

  • don´t use emulator????? so, how can you do that??? prove it!

  • I guess we can't prove it because you're too stupid to read the game manual. We'll have to wait until you learn how to read.

  • Page 73, Adventurer's advice, middle row, "Losers Prosper". "Even if members of your party are annihilated, they'll still retain their Expereince Points. Don't reset the game."

This is what I read that summer over a decade ago, after playing Chrono Trigger and wishing FF III had New Game Plus. It gave me the idea, and I was able to leave my SNES on overnight. I however only got to level 80 or so and Celes was unluckily hit with instadeath while alone. I still haven't caught up with Thwyter.

  • I just realized this video does prove it's being played on an SNES; many sound effects and music tracks, including magitek attacks are not perfectly played back in any emulated version of FF6, whether on the PC, the PS1 collection, or the GBA.

Anyone who has played the SNES version should be able to notice that this is the SNES version because the sound FX are perfect.

  • Just keep proving you know absolutely nothing about this game.

Every single party member that joins you, has their level scaled depending upon the "main" character's level (Terra in WoB, Celes in WoR). If Terra hits L99 and then dies, having saved only in Narshe, every new ally you meet will also be Lv 99.

I'd advise you to think before you open your mouth again, but it's conclusive that you're incapable of actual thought. Get lost already, the words you type are like blighted pollution.

  • Add to that, every non-Mog moogle is a place holder for the main characters, meaning as the main characters level up so do the moogles

  • Moron, this is easily doable. It's right in the freaking manual that when you die you keep your levels and go back to your last save.

All you have to do is play to the end of the game without saving or shutting the SNES off. Took me about two days back in the 90's. Even easier now on GBA due to quick save.

  • You did NOT see my other video, the one in the video responses. I did the EXACT same thing on the GBA version, yet you still don't believe me.

Well then, I am going to dig up my SNES, hook it up, and SHOW you that I did not use an emulator when I get a chance. (if it still works)

  • LOL good thing you didn't lose power during all this would have been a shame.

Or did you just use a roms quick save to bypass the risk?

Still I love FF1-FF3 and 7 are my top 3 games to this day.

  • I used the real cart. I could have easily lost power, but at the time I wasn't being threatened by power failures and I did not think of it.

  • 5:38 is awesome.

  • it is the U.S. SNES version of the game and they called it FF3.

  • it is, 6 was called 3 in the SNES version and this video was based off of the SNES so it's called 3. i did one similar on the GBA and that's called 6.

  • These kids not know there history do they thwyter...

  • what's the song at 2:57??? so awesome

  • I came up with the idea after Chronro Trigger was out. I wished NG+ was in FF3. Then I realized how to abuse that you keep your levels but revert to your last save point when defeated.

Thwyter achieved it before me. My attempt failed around L80 when Celes was insta-death'd. I then accidentally saved over my end-game, perfect-equip Lv99 save. I was so bummed I didn't play much after that, leaving Thwyter as the only one I know who achieved this.

  • well then thats that lol

  • How come the moogles are at level 99?

  • Playable characters in the WoB are based off of Terra's level. Since she is level 99, the moogles are level 99 (btw so is Leo when you have him)

  • Wow that's dedication there. I see it took you over 37 hours to do it too. So did you just walk around the cave and keep fighting till she got to lvl 99?

  • Nope, I layed the game. Spent a bit on the river, watched Kefka destroy the world, and made it to the dinosaur forest. I purposely died in the forest when she made level 99. Since I saved only at the first save point, I went all the way back to the beginning with a level 99 Terra.

  • yo so hold on can you tell me ow u did this im not folwing lol.. if u die dnt u start bck at the main menu ? n you loose every so u haveto start again dnt you ?

  • Yes you lose everything, EXCEPT your levels.

  • Holy crap! I am so gonna try this out.

  • so im going to try this out, maby not as far as u got but il get an hour into the game dnt save die n see were i start again n see if my level bar is stil up

  • leveling up with no espers equipped hurts you in the end not that it really matters at lvl 99

  • This is FF 6, not FF 3

  • It is the SNES version so it's called 3.

  • It's certainly impressive. Reminds me of something my friend would do xD

  • that snes console musta been hella hot

  • I placed my fan near the console and the power pack so it wouldn't over heat.

  • Hey, can this be done with the GBA Version of FF 6 Advanced?

  • I just tested it on the GBA, I retained my levels, but lost the everything else when I died. So go ahead, play the game saving ONLY at the first save point and die when Terra get to 99 and then save.

  • game genie

  • I DID NOT use a Game Genie. In fact you can do it too: just save in at the first save point, play the game WITHOUT dying till Terra is at lvl 99, then die and you too can have a lvl 99 game at the Narshe Caves.

  • ok so your tellin me you got her to lvl 99 without using espers on her?cause she only has the magics she would learn from just gaining lvls

  • You loose the Esper bonuses (stats and magic)when you die, but not your exp. Try it for yourself.

  • Good job getting leveled so high this early in the game!

  • I play though the game. I finally died in the dinosaur forest in the world of ruin and without saving, I was brought back to Narshe caves with my level intact.

  • ...So, I'm assuming you have no life?

  • When I did this, I was on my summer break with no responsibilities back in 96 or 97.
