  • How long as that place been closed down for looked so nice. Also like how you put the footage together.

  • Looks like Chernobyl, but not as bad obviously, same as everyone else I also went there alot when I was a kid. When it was owned by Haven (fair few years ago)

  • Jeez, what is going on? This is so depressing it makes me want to slit my wrists!!

  • Nicely made video, I've been really intrigued lately in how many holiday parks etc in the UK are now abandoned. Seems to have been quite a few during the last few years in the recession etc. Hemsby Pontins looks spooky, Newport Towers Hotel in Gloucestershire, Buckmore Park in Chatham and this place... Not sure how long they'll be left abandoned for as plans to do them up seem to always get abandoned due to finances/restrictions etc.

  • @NintendoConsumer Oh, right, sorry about that, my mistake. What do you want me to do about it then? Take the video down?

Hang on a minute...perhaps only grown-ups can see them?

  • I go past this place everyday well most days, its such a waste just sitting there derelict, never spent a holiday there and it probably was a fun packed place to be, wish someone would do something with it, its in a good location, there's not much else leisure wise, apart from in ryde. It would bring back jobs to the island and boost up tourism, so come on isle of wight council do your bidding and stop wasting time on silly unnecessary cutbacks.

  • Is that all that remains after the fire?

  • why is it titled "HAUNTED" i didnt see anything?

  • @clarksta The Isle of Wight is sometimes referred to as the haunted Island due to all the ghost stories, or it could just be bullshit to attract the holidaymakers.

  • @clarksta isle of wight is the most haunted place in the world because in ww1 and ww2 t it is where they sent all people that needed med attention and where all the people with tb where sent and most of them died the most haunted place on the island is the botanical islands

  • @MrRhysadams your reply sounds a bit dumb to refer ghost back to ww1 ww2 and tb

anyway way original reply was about the title of the video due to it being just a walk around

    of the derelict site

  • amazing!

  • i love your videos!

I am coming to visit the island this July for the very first time, i'm a little scared now!

  • Hehe strange vid lol nice spookey music wooohahah i wasnt haunted when it was open and still not haunted now unless u include the tramps and homeless that break in lol also reading the comment from keithspillett Chris didnt die in the IOW ferry, he sadly passed away after leaving the company whilst working on a cruise ship as MD.... it is very sad to see it like this going to cost millions and millions to do somthing with it now

  • I knew this place very well, and this makes sickening viewing, especially as it's so well done! The musical director, Chris Caswell, died of a heart attack on the IOW ferry, commuting to Renowned's other camp on Hayling Island, where he was ALSO musical director. He was in his early 30's........ Renowned worked him to death, and for what?

  • Sad to watch, but a very good video. How long ago was the promo video made? Amazing how the fortunes turned. And another fire, just like the Rex at Ventnor, and the old hospital at Shanklin, etc. Sandown is the same, both of the caravan sites i used to stay at have gone. I now go to cheverton copse each year. I love the island, but it's a shame to see so many places struggling. And i wish the council would do something about all the beach accesses that are closed now, whale chine, Luccombe etc

  • hi,i went onto isle of wight county press and found an article about harcourt sands and it said that they have spent £10,000 on market research.

It was written about 11 days ago.

  • Oh yeah, I just found the article on the IWCP website...we will have to keep an eye on that then wont we?

  • If I won the lottery I would rebuild this place!

  • Abandoned just because its haunted?

  • you did a great job making this film, very well put together, shame it is not still open as it was a great place to go for a special night out

  • I've got my combat gear ready. I'M GOING IN.

  • What hapened to it? Going to whitecliff in a couple of weeks. Would like to follow this up. What a good vid.

  • It closed a couple of years ago as they said it was no longer viable, and then the main building conveniently burned down.

Since then it has been left derelict.

Its difficult to get in due to the fences and security...so wear camouflage...LoL

  • hi there, could you tell me what this music is please ? Love it!

  • I'm afraid I haven't got a clue what it is.

Its an advertising video for Harcourt sands that I found on the Internet and re edited including my own clips of the camp as it is now, the soundtrack is the original one and nothing that I have added....sorry

  • what happened to make you say it was haunted

  • I didn't say it was haunted-although it may be-I said the Island was haunted, there are many ghost stories on the Isle of Wight, there are some books about them.

  • sorry I seem to have misread the title still a good video.

  • the isle of wight rocks, its a great place to make love in,

  • How absolutely criminal that all that stuff wasn't reused or sold on..

never mind.. once those nice developers move in it'll be to build lo-cost housing for us Islanders to afford??? won't it??

  • Thank god this sort of thing has been wiped out! Move the developers in!
