  • That was beautiful, man. All the harmony flooding in with that was just stunning.

  • I like the bass sustain that comes from the tapping. Very nice.

  • Nice...love the different take.

  • This is why I want to play bass.

  • i. love. this... period!!!

  • this is really hard to play with the teeth, I don't recommend it

  • This is a sick interpretation! Love it! It not quite correct, and I don't care too much to be honest either - many of the liberties you took worked perfectly, but there were just one or two 'wrong' notes that I'm sure you realize could be corrected. I improv on Bach lots on the violin, and as long as you do it 'in line' with key and tempo to a certain extent, it sounds good.

I love the haunting/ambient mood this gives. It was rich in what most versions of this lack; expression.

  • love the rancid shirt

  • its a beautiful interpretation really it is.

  • sweet dude, so many haters, whats up with that?

  • That sounded awesome bro, props to you

  • Oh and the prelude that Stu performed wasn't this at all, it was a keyboard piece and I have no idea how you would confuse the two.

  • @guitarjedi312 Stop speaking out of your arse, he's one of the pioneers of equal temperament, was an advocate of improvisation, and liked to transpose music for different intsruments. That being said, I didn't enjoy this video at all, messy with lots of wrong/extra notes and it really doesn't need to be tapped. I suppose at least it's a little different from the thousands of other bass versions of this movement here, play some other cello suites bass players!

  • fuck you

  • Awesome :D

  • it is not quite the same :/ but you still kicking ass!!!

  • wow your cover is so interesting congratulations

  • This is a really good interpretation, talk about making it your own.

  • Great interpretatoin of this piece. I enjoyed it alot.

  • I love this song, When I first heard it took me away into a different world. When I play it I get this feeling like im flying.

  • this make me cry. i love this song.

  • Excellent demonstration of tapping. GJ.

  • oué clair c du lourd ;)

  • está bien, a mí me gusta. o me la tengo que aprender pero sin el taping

  • very good! congratulations!

  • This is so cool!!! I didn't know you could play this song on the bass. Kuddos to you man. :D

  • @xxSkylersxVenomxx

You can play pretty much any song on bass.

  • it's close...still I like it ! ;-)

  • I love this version. I may try it on my Bass :)

    x x

  • look. this guy is playing at slightly less than moderate pace and did not put much emphasis on articulation but still skillful.

    Keep on keeping on Peltbearer

  • I like how you seem so relaxed and at ease, like you were blowing bubbles (or some other mildly enjoyable simple task, forgive the somewhat ridiculous example). It just seems to flow from your fingers. It's something I wish I could achieve with my Violin, I've been playing for a while, but only when I'm super at-ease can it occur.

Props man, this rocked! (in a very classic way ^_~*)

  • props man. screw the haters like Icy said. For 3 minutes straight, you played pretty damn well in my opinion

  • post your version, please

  • nicely said :D

  • I liked don't listen to those haters, your only human and you said you did it by ear which is even better.

  • Doesn't need to be tapped. This arrangement is pretty messy, and your tone is way to blurry.

  • beatiful magic

  • dude ur the shit!!

  • f-ing awesume!!!! C-:

  • flaws and all i loved it, specially the start

  • too "blury" it has too much sustain. but the playing wuz pretty guud.

a few mixupzz, but ItZz AlL gUuD!!!

  • Your typing isn't though.

  • nice arrangement - however i didn't really feel that more expression in your playing

difficult piece to do as well - i play it fingerstyle

  • it's a lot easier on a 6 string :P

  • not really. It would be easier and sound better if he wasnt tapping this.

  • I love this piece of music...! Thanks!

  • this was amazing. i appreciate the creativity and flawlessness of it all, that was worth listening to. way to go dude

    Ripedskater

  • Jus a heads up...These are PDF format so you can right click and save as and store it on your hard drive.

    Thanks for this man...MORE inspiration!

  • Do you people know anything about Bach, or the Baroque period in general?

During the Baroque period, composers EXPECTED performers to adopt their piece and make it their own. No, there is not a specific way to play Bach - because Bach didn't specify. He gave us the notes and the rhythm. The dynamics and timbre are left to the performer.

Classical period and Romantic period? Totally different story.

  • Well said!

And to a degree I think that still stands to music today.

I mean...why NOT adapt it to yourself?

  • @exaltedone

    Exceptionally well put.

  • @exaltedone

    Correct. Well done.

  • @exaltedone get a grip and chill out mate

  • Well Bach wrote it for a cello, if you hadn`t noticed yet. This is a bassguitar, so it is by definition already not being played "in a precise way". Music is art, and as long as it sounds good, you can tap, slap, whatever - bite the strings if you want to.

  • @TheC1 imagine if Bach had the isntruments that we have now would his pieces be diferent ?

  • @klickBG I'm pretty sure they would, considering just the fact that you can get a bunch of effects etc. Hell, I'm even pretty sure that had Bach lived in our time, he'd written some of the greatest metal pieces ever heard, but hey, that's what we have Mustaine for, eh? :D

  • @TheC1 Damn right you are! :)!

  • @TheC1 he was a traditionalist and considered pretty 'stuck in the past' in his time, so I guess that his music wouldn't be much different :P If Beethoven had the instruments around today on the other hand, or Mahler...

  • @guitarjedi312

Mahler? Are you serious? You can't be serious.

  • awesome

  • This is bad ass! =]

  • omg this is amazing!

  • A nice attempt, but, you might want to take a listen to a few celloist play this. Try to make your dynamics more even and transition more smoothly and itll be really good. Also youre emphasizing some notes that are meant to be more of an after thought...like an embelishment of sorts. =-) like i said listen to celloist and youll get it perfect.

  • And exactly since when do you HAVE to play music the way someone else does?

  • Not entirely correct but a very nice attempt.

  • No i am almost sure that he doesnot have a tab for this. If you want the sheet music, go to a sheet music store or get it online. If you cant read music then figure it out. It's originally for cello, so get that music.

  • Actually guys he has posted the sheet music and the tab, the link is in the box to the right of the video.

Thanks for posting the link :-)

  • this is really great man i love it

  • Sounds like a remix. I like it.

  • hey man whats up. I got ur tab/sheet music and im learning how to play this beautiful piece. Im not tapping tho. anyways i used to be able to read sheet music when i was playing cello back in my school days but i think everyone knows that if u dont use it, u loose it. but hey im getting there. thanks!

  • Whats it sound like without tapping?

  • well you dont get that overtone that you would if you tapped. I like this piece with a little solidity and i get that when i dont tap. But this dude can play it like this and its still awesome. I had to "alter" the tabs that he had but the outcome is still the same. i suggest everyone to try and play this song. i use it to warm up

  • AWESOME!!!

  • hey man, nice original take on this classic piece. i dig.

  • bach would be proud

  • great chops

  • Wow!nice job!!!

  • Pretty neat version, and very nicely played. But it really sounds better with the notes properly separated as it was written, rather than sustaining the chords. Just play it fingerstyle :)

  • Metrically precise. Good job.

  • speed it up just a little bit

other than that it was really good

  • amazing!...just some mistakes, but we all make mistakes, great job.

  • its beautiful

especially considering its done on a 4-string

that is all u really need isnt it hehe

    kudos

  • is taht a traben bass?

  • That is awesome! I've only just started playing bass so if I can ever play this I'll be quite satisfied!

And someone who actually puts up a link to the MUSIC! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

  • very good

  • well done, anyone who an tap and get a good sound blows me away.

  • i spoted some mistakes, but if this tab is the same, that you are palyiong, i could try to correct this

  • great rancid t-shirt XD

  • This is pretty sweet. I like it. Your style makes it stand out from all the other videos of this on YouTube.

  • This IS the Prelude from the Suite I in G-Major for Cello (BWV1007)... and I never saw Stu playing this piece... the one he plays is in fact another Prelude (C-Major). The guy who plays THIS one (in G-Major) is John Patitucci.

  • stu playied moonlight sonata

  • ah well i see what you mean, i thought you meant i was playing stu's arrangement on this video... i know he's done it earlier, but when i did this i hadn't heard his version.

  • yes, it's the prelude.. and no, stu didn't arrange this.

  • hey pas mal ca fai un joli son

  • hey pas mal ca fai un joli son

  • That was sweet! Good job!

  • Nice. Thanks for sharing the tab. :)

  • Great :D On a 4 strings! I like this Prelude and I've played a my own interpretation

  • Great great great!

  • beautiful playing.

  • shame about the sound quality

  • awesome tapping! do you or anyone here have tabs or something I can try to transcribe to be able to plays this?

  • Man i just dont have words xDD i 've searched thisa tab for 2 months and i didnt even ask for it here and there was the link.. ty very much

    Good playing btw..

    Long live bass

  • Nice but... should tune better the bass and then be careful to some notes...

  • i love you

  • Now that's music!

Nice one..link doesn't work tho BTW.

  • works for me...

  • Nice approach! I like your changes too. They add some unexpectedness to a piece that I've heard a brazillian times. I'll post a video response of my version from about 10 years ago. Just audio with some picturees.

  • cool. i hav the sheet music for playing this finger style somewhere... it's an octave lower, but i like the higher register tapping that ur doing.

  • good stuff man.
