  • prey animals cannot distiinguish the rolling motion of a vehicle as a predatory approach and thus dont fear it, bipedalisim is engrained on all animals predators included as something to be afraid of and only one animal on this planet is bipedal.

  • @Gantzer1 only one animal is bipedal? Well thats not true.

  • I'm not sure if this has already been shared, but baby deer of many different species instinctively lie as still as possible in order to avoid detection. The mother returns to where they left the fawn after scouting for food or whatnot.

  • Touching a baby deer will not make the mother reject it, running it over with a lawn mower certainly would have. Nice work brother.

  • Why would you do that?!

  • @Mrsazinswag Read info.

  • maaaaaaaaaaaa

  • its screamed mum

  • good work, poor little fella probably had just given up. Glad someone like you with a kind heart found it.

  • when you touch a baby Deer with your hands , the mother will repudiate the baby ,because it smells like Human !

  • @cermedesfans Not true, parents made that up so kids wouldn't go bother animals. What? You think there's something about us that smells EVIL? Why would the mum be bothered by the smell of another animal?

  • @kazuwacky

I'm not sure if this applies to deers but i think it's because thats how mother deers can tell if it's their kid or not. So when the baby deer comes back smelling a little strange, the mother will think it's not their kid.

  • @watergal619 Just did some research and a parent for almost any animal (including birds) will only abandon their young if there is a present and discernable threat in the moment. Their child smelling strange won't lead to abandonment as their young are simply too important.

  • @kazuwacky he thought it was hurt?! and/or thought it could have been dead.. If a baby deer was hurt wouldn't you want to help it? or if it was dead, wouldn't you want to move it off of your property so other big animals wouldn't eat it?

  • scared the fuck out of me LOL amazing

  • that deer is a SPY!

  • you just killed it D: dont touch them

  • the deers like OMG! black powers on!!!

  • It's starting to look like a TRIPLE deer

  • You remind me of the double rainbow guy

  • @jonainsco90 I'm gona have to see what that is. I've heard that before.

  • Aww you woke him up :) lol j/k

  • It's nice to hear the relief in your voice when it runs away...there are so many arseholes on YT it's nice to hear a man actually acting like one.

  • Thanks for making sure the little guy was ok mate :) I'm pretty sure he was just scared of the noise and was trying to hide then play dead when you got too close :) When I got near a teenagerish (smaller than an adult but larger than a baby) Kerlew with a leaf stuck in my bike wheel (not a motor bike and it made a loud ticking noise) it went from standing to bam on the ground and absolutly out of sight. It was a very good defence move and I wasn't able to see it when I went past. Have a good day

  • It probably ran back to its mother screaming "MOMMY OMG MOMMY THAT MAN TOUCHED MEEEEE!!!"

  • Was the thing ok? do you know?

  • I wonder if it was just hunkering down in that spot because it was scared of the mower. It seems logical, I know fawns just tend to hide out in one are while it's mom is out doing her thing.

  • As to the video though, the little deer lays there like that because remaining completely still is an involuntary reaction in young deer when they're afraid, especially because without their mother nearby they stand a lot better chance trying to blend in than run. There are a fair number of cases I've heard like that where people will find a young deer just sitting somewhere completely still, even when people walk right up to it (my uncle once had one on his doorstep as a matter of fact).

  • Dudes right, the thing about touching baby animals and being disowned by their mothers is pretty definitively false. Even if scientifically it wasn't disproven, which it has been, such a notion makes no sense whatsoever considering how valuable offspring are in the wild. It's just something people tell children (like many of those posting this BS I'm guessing) to discourage them from trying to get near wild animals and possibly piss of protective mothers.

  • NYAHHHHHHHHH

  • LOL Scared the piss out of me .

  • holy crap thats small!!!! LOLZERZ its sooooo freakin CUTE!!

  • press 3 for maaaaah! :D

  • ARE YOU IRISH OR SCOTTISH? YOUR ACCENT IS AWESOME.

  • touching a baby dear will none make the mother leave it, I bet your full of shit grandma told you that it will

  • Actually, touching them does make the mother disown them. Its the same with sheep. The mother has receptors in her nose distinguishing ''her'' scent from that of others, including your scent. Which is why when sheep don't take care of their lambs you use ''adoption-spray'' on the lamb and on the mothers nose, so that they smell the same, so the mother will take the lamb to her again. Nice job arguing from ignorance, petro062!

  • @CrowdControlFTW Thats interesting, bec. sheep should be used on human odours. I didn't know about adoption spray. I just wonder if my mom couldn't breast-feed me, because I was taken away from her for some hours after birth. Btw. I propably would have touched the baby deer too, because it looked dead. (and played dead) Does the mother 'expect' strange smellings after such an experience? Anyways, interesting, the dear remembered the 'predator' as a nice one and wasn't shy after.

  • @Storybrett Dragging your own mom into this, huh? I always figured humans were at the very least a little smarter than animals, but in your case, I guess I'm wrong. And what the calf remembers, and what the mother decided aren't always the same. I remember this from back when we took in a Moose-calf, who was ''disowned'' by his mother, for the exact reason you show us here. But then again, I could be mistaken, and its all just a conspiracy...

  • @CrowdControlFTW Well, being smart doesnt help when you have no milk to feed the baby. Or you simply don't like the baby and don't know why. It's called postpartal depression and it's a big deal. Maybe it's simply the smell and adoption spray could help! :/

Actually, we deserve the Nobel Prize in medicine for that theory! (And if we don't get it, it mus be a conspiracy...)

  • @Storybrett Man, that was really a great theory. Maybe you should become, like, a scientist or something. Maybe you could go to Mars or something, and explore the universe? Maybe you could become, like, a famous fucking explorer and win all the bitches and all the money, 'cause that was really inspirational, man. Super awesome indeed!

Now gtfo my Youtube and back to your cave. Troll

And while I'm at it, we're discussing deer, not humans.

  • Run little deer!!?? Go to mom!!!!!!!!!!!

  • that was so cute are you all right are you there you go

  • are you in canada O_o?

  • @aliensupremacy2 Who's the dumb ass for believing myths. How many more do you believe? Read!

  • @aliensupremacy2 dumbass.............

  • @aliensupremacy2 thats only for birds

  • @aliensupremacy2 Your grammar and misspellings proves that you're the true dumb ass and idiot.

  • @aliensupremacy2 That only works for bird eggs lmaooo wow

  • @aliensupremacy2 dumbass

  • 0:22 thats wat she said to him

  • Aww, how cute.

  • Did it shit anyone else up?

  • GOD that made me jump!

  • @JadeLouiseChen Don't waste god's name.

  • @JadeLouiseChen yeah, goddamnit, don't waste

  • im glad that you didnt run the itty bitty fawn over...and i hear the sincerety in ur voice as you check on the frightened possibly hurt babe...and the relief in ur voice when he scurries off...and i understand why you rubbed on him to get him to move around...all these comments about NOT TOUCHING THE FAWN must be made city slickers... have a gr8 day.. :)

  • You had such concern such love and kindness in your voice I'm so glad people like you make and post these videos to remind us of human love and kindness. I wonder how some people can actually kill such amazing animals and call it a "sport"

  • You have a nice voice, the voice of a good man. :)

  • Actually, now that i think about it, the poor thing probably WAS terrified of the tractor but it's mother taught it to remain still and quiet in it's nesting place so as not to attract predators. Poor thing. So glad you didn't run it over. My grandma once unknowingly ran over all "my" frogs with her riding lawn mower (long story)...frog guts flying everywhere...I wonder if we could put one of those deer whistles (they use for cars to scare deer away) on riding lawn mowers...

  • Wow. Thanks for sharing this. So strange she is not afraid of the tractor! Chances are the mother brought her to that spot and left her there intending to return (but maybe was killed?) What a vulnerable little one!

  • WHY did you do that!? deer leave thre babys alone for a while so that they can detur prediors. for gods sake man, WHY would you even touch a wild animal without knowing first what is doing, and about its behavior.

  • WOW! i had my volume up in headphones and JUMPED off my chair when that thing squeeled

  • Oh your so little.. AHHH!

  • LOL for a moment there i thought the deer was dead.

  • how can a video of a beautiful animal and a human being checking to see if it's okay attract some insanely racist comments? what's wrong with you people?

  • what a pretty little thing. that was a defense mechanism she was doing :) sometimes baby deer will keep very still and quiet especially when mommy is not so close, so as to not be noticed by predators.

  • holy cow? should say 'holy baby deer'

  • Aww! OMGosh that baby was darling. I have always wanted to see a baby dear up close in real life. I love their sweet little faces. : )

  • holy crap thats a little one.

  • youre very lucky to be living near such wild animals

  • tht was so sweet

  • Lol just nonchalantly ask the deer if it's ok.

  • That happened to me except it screeched 10 times louder and scared the crap outta me

  • WHAT DOES IT MEAN!??!?!? OH MY GOD OH MY GOD! TRIPLECUTE DEER ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE FIELD!

  • Yeah, make it go away so when the mother arrives that the deer is gone ;)

  • very cute... but we should never touch a baby dear... the mother will leave her baby if she smells another smell on it... For info, if touched, then it should be covered with mud. Mud is the only thing that removes the human smell on the deer.... Hopefully it's mum did accept him :)

  • @Anyakisleddogs I put on there read info because so many people have this same comment. The vote is that that is not true. The proof is also the same. Why don't people read the results? Baby will be 2 this spring. It's a myth.

  • @petro062 It's not a myth actually, it's also the same with rabbits.

  • @petro062 It's not so much that the mother won't accept him (though that is sometimes the case) it is more that it makes it easier for predators to sniff them out. Which was obviously not the case here. Glad you didn't run him/her over! It's so funny that it isn't afraid of the tractor! Hopefully that doesn't cause any issues for it in the future though :/ Stay away from tractors and cars little guy! They're scary! lol

  • @petro062

the only danger in touching a baby animal is that you might agitate the mother if its nearby, your scent might attract predators to the baby's location or one might pick up something the baby might have

  • @petro062 That doesn't mean that 'don't touch animals' is a myth. You propably don't smoke and had no sweaty hands. In general it's better to don't touch them.

  • @Storybrett Right they might have rabies or something.

  • @Guineapiggies117 Thats a point, but if a deer bites a human, you at least know for sure, it is rabies. XD

  • @Anyakisleddogs i dont really think this is true with dear because they adopt other calfs or what ever you call baby dear all the time.

  • @Anyakisleddogs I think you're thinking of birds.

  • well shit, if someone poked and shook me until i woke up i'd screech and run off too

  • on the cute animal part of youtube again.

  • What a crude brutish way you have about you... handling that beautiful fawn like it was yesterday's garbage.

  • @ryan33bttm

I am pretty sure the man in the video thought the animal was dead when he first touched it with no response. I thought the animal was dead or getting close to death.

  • @LakinKrystle The man has a redneck crudeness about him that comes of as being very abusive and disrespectful in relation to the innocence of the fawn.

  • @ryan33bttm well that's kinda racist of you to stereotype him as a "redneck" and see him in a dark light. He may have not known how to handle the animal properly, but at least he cared about it and was glad when it was alright.

  • Comment removed

  • @OperaGhostess No one should ever touch a wild animal in the first place because it might be rabid and, secondly, manhandling it isn't the kind or smart thing to do.

  • Why are you so freaking mean to the deer idiot?!

  • @Holystuffz He was TRYING to wake it up =c he wasn't being mean =/ he was simple moving it around until it woke up.

  • Dammit on that side of youtube again.

  • He Got Scard When The Dear Screem'd...LoL

  • @michaelnsophia deer* xP

  • awwwwwwwwww

  • did anyone hear:"MOM!"(well mam)

  • @meandonlyme345r2 It was the baby deer crying =x

  • My aunt is a vet and she fixed up a baby dear and it sounded like a sheep.

  • THUMBS UP IF YOU GOT HERE FROM A F-ZERO VIDEO

  • You sound just as freaked out as the deer. XD

  • thats a big yard no wonder!

  • baby deer: "fuck off!"

    Man: "OKAAAY"

  • what an idiot never touch them cause of your smell

  • @AkommaklaA Its mom can tell the difference.

  • anr you sure its holy cow and not holy deer :)

  • I Pooted @ 00:14... I didnt even know what a poot was until that @_@

  • So beautiful!!! Sweet little baby :)

  • I know you're getting criticism for it but I want to thank you for nudging it to get it back into the woods. It's not like you grabbed it and flung it around...you just got it going. You clearly did it out of concern. And I do not for one second believe that the mother would have rejected it. That's a myth.

  • Guy: Are you alright?!

Deer: DAMN CAN'T A NIGGA NAP IN PEACE *runs*

  • Hey this is an educational video. "hey kids whenever you see deer sleeping in your yard because they are babies and don't know better, go pet them and twist their bodies until they screech (i never knew they could do that) and run away"

  • Sounds like a goat

  • Ипать!!! И он надеется что оленёнок ему ответит?! Да что курят эти американцы!?Они даже до оленя могут докопаться

  • awww....

  • wow this is the stupidest thing ever. deer lie down like that to hide and stay camaflouged... you just freaked it out. not the smartest getting your scent all over it either... and yes, they lay there for a long time, whenever their mother goes to graze. the deer is safer away from it's mother because it has very little scent.

  • you should not touch it cause u r putting your scent all over it and that might cause the mother to reject it

  • 0:15 - RUN FOREST..RUN!!!!

  • hahahha

  • Guy-You alrite?

    Fawn-what is this guy doing?

    Guy-you alrie? -pets-

Fawn- STrANGER DANGER STRANGER DANGER! -runs-

  • @Skynet1191 alrite*

  • @Skynet1191 lolololol

  • @AnimalCarnage I thought so too!

  • Is this the same guy in the Double Rainbow video?

  • Bambi!

  • hope it turned out okay

  • Yeah he probably was there for a long tim, he was probably sleeping too

  • No rules great scotch

  • I'll be tempted to keep it as a pet.

  • awwwwwwwwwwwww!

  • You guys do know that the abandoning of baby animals when humans touch them is an urban legend, right? Just from walking around they get tons of other scents. Hell, certain types of birds lay eggs that hatch into baby birds in other species' nests and kill that species' baby birds and the parents don't even notice.

  • It's a deer, not a baby hamster. Hamsters may occasionally abandon their young, kill or even eat them for a variety of reasons. A doe on the other hand will only rarely abandon it's fawn if the doe somehow senses there is something wrong with it. Judging by the dead patch of grass, that fawn was either already abandoned or somehow got separated from its mother AND simply decided to stay put. Seems to me this person helped change its mind and at least gave it a fighting chance.

  • You shouldnt touch the fawn. There is a possibility that the mother will disown it. Best thing to do in this situation is to leave it alone! Mum will find him/her. Nature will find a way. Hope you don't have to come across him/her again!

  • well, now that deer is as goo as dead, the mother will never take it back. Idiot.

  • @bstorm123 That's 100% not true. Many deer have taken fawns back that have been touched. If she knows there is no danger around, or has no fear of humans, she will lick the fawn clean and be on her merry way.

  • foarte frumos.bine ca era ok.

  • You shouldve kept an eye on him not disturb him while he was sleeping. When the mom doesnt come back in a few hours, bring it into your house for a cup of water and some food.maybe it was abandoned bacause it was sick since he didnt move the first few seconds u touched him

  • Its good that he was concerned but the mother probably left it there and would come back to get it. You shouldn't touch them just keep an eye on them and when its obvious the mother wasn't coming back then call someone

  • bambi!

  • thats actually a defense mechanisem (mispelled I know) predators are looking for a chase and wont notice somthing staying completly still

  • she yelled "Mom!" :3

  • loved that

  • Touching an animal will NOT mean the mother will not take care of it. That is an old myth that was propogated to keep people from interacting with animals. And let's review, HE WAS MOWING WITH A TRACTOR, ALMOST RAN OVER IT AND IT DID NOT MOVE. He touched it and almost picked it up before it moved. Chances are it was abondoned as sick.

  • I'm not an animal expert... But i think it's not smart to have touched it

  • def shouldn't of touched it. it's mother was probably in the surrounding area. This is totally normal around where I live.

  • Meanwhile in Canada...

  • I love how he watches the deer run off and he goes ''Holy Cow'' x)

  • should have left it alone i say mum would have come back they often do that to keep them safe so they can go eat etc.

  • A mother animal abandoning her baby because of a "human scent" is a complete MYTH. Ask any rescue wildlife center. Your best bet is to leave them alone if there are no visible signs of injury and do a bit of stalking. I bet the mother will return. [=

  • man this dude is canadian

  • anyone else nearly shit them self when that thing screeched?

  • @minecraftdoneright I jumped in my chair and thought someone was behind me making that sound... ^.^

  • @minecraftdoneright waddaya mean nearly?

  • when it went BAHH it scared me hahah

  • this guy takling sounds so fucking creepy i want to cry

  • The mother wont take it anymore becuz itt smells like a human

  • omgz I was like aww

  • It probably died 10 minutes after you woke it up because it doesn't have a mother to protect it!

  • I hope he found his mom.......

  • i'm pretty sure it's just baby deer you can't touch, not deer.

  • Fawns will stay in the spot their mother's leave them and not move under extreme duress. The doe will return to the exact spot she left her baby. I almost got mowed down by a frenzied fawn scared up by a friend who almost stepped on it when we were walking in the forest. Poor baby, we scared it more than it startled us.

  • BAMBI

  • thank you for being a decent human being :) what you did was very nice.

  • I love how he looks off into the distance like "he'll be fine.."
