  • I'm sorry to see Thrice disband (temporarily!), but this song really explains why.

  • @thisiswilson2 I very much agree... that and the lyrics to songs like "The Sky Is Falling"... Listen to that... I reckon it might be something to do with the fact it's 2012, they're supersticious dudes, and i think they could be laying low with their fams this year, just in case...

  • this tempo is so hard to play!!!!

  • Im playing this song right now with the same capo :D and im playing with a pick i caught by him, just this once.

  • his voice gives me goosebumps. ive met this musical God twice now, and I cherish those 20 minutes we spent together.

  • #9,798 but i feel like #1

  • beautiful song<3

  • I totally cried at work when I found out they were on hiatus.

I'd like to thank them for everything they've done over their time together.

There's songs by them that I need to listen to just to get through the day.

They will be missed so much by everyone who they've touched through the years. We can't thank you enough!

  • @JFlem86 I know I couldn't believe it when I read the post on their site... I was sooooo glad I went to see them in Atlanta in October. Hopefully they'll keep making music some way or another. They're so inspiring.

  • Thank you Thrice for your music...you will be missed.

  • @HighFivesForGod they didn't break up there just taking a break.

  • Who cares what the time signature is? It's a great song, period.

  • @fomoco30 Thank you.

  • best performance of the whaler I've seen. glad I stumbled onto this one.

  • The original version can be counted either 5/4 or 10/8 for the whole song. This version has a couple of random measures of 11/8, which I think are just there because it's probably pretty difficult to strum, count, and sing this song all at the same time. Also, at the end of this video, for the sort of vocal outro thing, he switches to 3/4, I think that this is, again, because it's probs hard to count this song while singing. But the recording is all in 5. Also, no hemiola here.

  • @xBeefyisDeadx Though 5/4 can be used, I usually count this song in 250/4 when I play it. It just feels more correct.

  • @Koztunk Thats cool dude, 250/4 is my favorite time signature.

  • Verse is 11/4, chorus is 10/4

  • I'm glad this only have 4000 views. maybe that means im one of the only people on the planet that recognizes good music :-)

  • @PizzaByAlfredo The people who love good music love it more passionately than anyone else :D

  • @PizzaByAlfredo say that to the almost 400,000 facebook fans of Thrice...I like Thrice, am I cool too?

  • So sad but so beautiful

  • the time signature of this song is so different. i think it alternates 10/8 and 11/8 like one after the other...but i cant really tell if theres a simpler way to put it. but man this song is so soothing :)

  • @FOBrienK10 I'm pretty sure it's in 5/4

  • @FOBrienK10 The original is 4/4 with a hemiola, I know that much.

  • This is so good, I couldn't move or speak when it finished.

  • Thrice <3

  • How has no one commented on this?! It's amazing!

  • @thefallofgavinshero Because everyone is SPEECHLESS!
