If the Department found it was a suicide instead of a murder, Calvess' wife would not have received the pension. Oak's motive in the movie was to convict a "murderer" (a goal that could have been reached when the Department pinned the murder on the druggie that had Mike's badge in his freezer; Oak did not have to subsequently try and frame the 2 black men. Though this would have ended the movie; so they left this plot hole in). I have no idea why I have been the only person to see this plot hole

i cant be quite sure what you're trying to say, but i feel spielbergs only decent film was saving private ryan. his other films seem to be kind of soppy. for example, the beginning of A.I. was made by a director who died half way through the film and it was good, up until the point spielberg took over and turned it into a heartwarming family-film.
Both Saving Private Ryan and Narc are excellent films. I'm not that big of a fan of Spielberg, but to say all his other films are "kind of sloppy", and that his only decent movie is Saving Private Ryan...mmm - Jaws - The 3 Indiana Jones movies (not a huge fan, but no questioning how great they are) - E.T - Empire of the Sun (LOVED IT) - Jurassic Park - Schindler's List - Minority Report - Catch Me If You Can - Munich Honestly, he's one of the greats. I'm more of a David Fincher fan, though.

AI was originally something Stanley Kubrick wanted to direct, and he went several drafts and hired writers, but he never felt that the CGI was good enough in the 70s. So he handed it to Steven Spielberg. After Kubrick died, Spielberg decided to bring the project back, writing the screenplay and filming it in an imitation of Kubrick's style as an homage. Kubrick didn't actually film any of that movie.

thomas, i didnt say this happened in middlesbrough (every day), i said that estate looked like some of those in middlesbrough. middlesbrough city centre is very well looked after and clean, but it does gradually become worse as you move out through the suburbs, etc. its just a shame most of the people look like hobos and ironically wear tracksuits when they probably couldnt run to save their lives...
