  • This shot isn't Del Potro's specialty. If you're going to comment on Juan Martin, then comment on his dip drive. It's still a forehand, but it's a hard flat forehand shot from a much higher position while inside the baseline. This Juan Martin Del Potro's winner and his best weapon. When he gets a high ball he pounces, sending a rocket into the opponents court with such pace and depth that they struggle to sent it back, if at all.

  • only federer and del potro use this kinda forehand.

  • His forehand is simplest way to hit the ball..I recommend those who are starting to play tennis.. watch his stroke and imitate him

  • its sad the video did not show the whole process of the forehand, like from the moment when the shoulder rotate

CUZ IS FOREHAND IS SURE HUGE

  • Eastern forehand grip.

  • Part of his power comes from his EASTERN grip. This grip is creeping into prominence.

  • Hey, i'm completly new to tennis. what does different grip have to do with swings?

  • @Reyrocksall According to your grip you can hit a ball in different ways !! For ex if u have e Eastern grip you hit a falt ball . If u have a semiwestern grip u hit half flat half topsin ball while with a western grip u hit a topspin ball

  • looks like he uses the eastern forehand grip like roger

  • damn so simple and efficient, love it.

  • It takes much more than just power to win. That's why Federer's still at the top. But nonetheless DP's forehand is one of the smoothest FH on tour, despite it's power. I'd take his over Gonzo's any day.

  • Same grip of roger

  • Exactly. And I think this is one of the reasons why he can hit so much through the ball, producing effortless power. It suits perfectly to him given his height (6'6''). He can hit even relatively high bouncing balls within his comfort zone.

  • True , but i prefer Gonzo forehand :P

  • @mytennis4you

    what exactly is his grip?

  • @JUSfr34k Eastern-Forehand-Grip

  • @mytennis4you del po usually uses a western for normal shots... He uses eastern for those crushing winner though.

  • @JUSfr34k In fact wikipedia says that he has a semi-western grip ://

  • @GtrEvo No it's a semi-western grip. sorry.

  • You know it better? Great! I wanna sit back and learn from u. Deliver, please!

  • The hardest hit forehands in tennis history belong to Juan Martin del Potro and Fernando Gonzales. But Roger Federer has the most aesthetically pleasant the most elegant the most effective (percentage wise) forehand in all history. Federer The Undisputed Greatest of All Time!
  • Monfils actually has the biggest, I agree with you on federer but you gotta get your facts right.

  • @RuthlessFerocity guess the greatest of all time wasn't so great against this average Del Potro guy right at the US open finals?

  • No question about his tennis skills but he's not class like Roger or suave like Rafa...at least not yet.

  • the most powerful drive!
