you shouldn`t do this! a easy way to fix this error is by disconnecting the fans and leaving the xbox on for 10 minuites, with no air to keep the internal systems from overheating the CPU and GPU will force a connection (the real reason for the 3 red lights is the CPU and GPU split and cannot make a connection between the two), after this let it cool down for about 2 minuites, connect the fans, restart the system and it will work! certain people with a brain will see that this does infact work

@ROCKYREDMAN07 i do alot of part time working with consoles despite being 17.... anyways most common prob that caused the rrod is a bad solder joint. sometimes people force it to work the the highly renowned towel trick but that forces some specific joints to melt onto the board ever so slightly. cant tell you how hard it is to do a full and complete reball (about 5-7hrs but pays good). the slim console is now slightly easier to fix but still hard. so no broken parts. an overheated joint yes.

I don't know if anyone else has said this, I'm too lazy to read through the comments, but yes, triple red lights means that it is a hardware failure, in most cases it is just loose screws on the heat sync or chassis, or loose solders as well, a bang on the front probably got it back into place. That was pretty damn entertaining.
