  • Such a beautiful song and the accompanying vid is quite beautiful as well. Kate Bush is one of a handful of muses that I deeply cherish.

  • StnRd2005, Kate Bush is my favorite artist of all time, but I've never quite gotten into her music videos... what you did here is something she should take a serious lesson from... you took her beautiful art and enhanced it, which she has never quite done with her own videos... can you please share where you got all these film clips? I'm American, but it still made me miss an old country that I have never lived in.

  • I also think this is one of aerial's peaks

  • Aerial's high point. Nobody else on earth would write a song like this.

  • Very beautiful video and song

  • Closing my eyes and listening to Kate, just wow. Going to listen to Cloudbusting now.

  • An Architect's Dream is like the 'Watching you without me' of Aerial.

  • This is (in the true sense of the word) one thing - sublime. Gorgeous lovingness.x

  • I love the old film, but its a distraction, the sound, don't look just hear

    Spud custard

  • I see glimpses of things I have seen before, online and and in real life. Castle Drogo?

But I agree. The innocence is wonderful.

  • @TheQuietEye I think it was, there are the brifest glimses of Torquay and Cockington in there too. Looks like a nicer time to've been around.

  • I keep coming back to this and watch it through, through the last 4 years. The innocence of early movie scenes, and Kate Bush.

  • très belle mélodie ..... très belle vidéo .... une vrai évasion .......

  • Beautiful video.

  • love the bass and guitar in this <3333

  • Beautiful! This goes right to my favorites.

  • can you tell what it is yet......nice touch at the get go

  • I wish miss Bush and family the best of lives, the best thing an artist can achieve is changing other peoples life to a better..her art certainly made me a better person in few weeks. Thankyou Kate Bush, thankyou internet, thankyou Youtube and the person who made this film to the music, wonderful.

  • "The light (life) is changing..."

Very very deeply emotional song. The whole life is at the moment. THE BEST FEELING. This kind Perfomance is able only by time pass experience.

Dear Kate Bush, thank You very much for sharing this gift living inside of You!

  • wow, this video makes this song even more beautiful. Something I think was impossible. Thanks

  • Commented before...still one of the most beautiful videos on You Tube. Thank you.

  • Hopefully Kate has seen this. Words can't describe - a masterful piece of work you've created here.

  • This is a wonderful combination of a great song and a haunting video - well done

  • wonderfull... une chanson qui m'a redonner de la confiance, qui me fait du bien quand mon coeur souffre ou au contraire bat très fort...

La voix de Kate... merveilleuse/// The Kate's songs are always beautiful... my heart with Kate voices...

  • My favourite song on the album. It's sublime.

  • where'd you get all your footage? great work, thank you

  • Kate Bush's soothing voice really did captured the essence in the vintage video. A simpler innocent time that have eluded us. May we cherish those memories..

  • This was one of the first video's I watched when I found You Tube back in 2006...And it's still one of my most favorites , it's beautiful....

  • @blackflower75 Glad you like it !

  • @StanRd2005 really rather special

  • Great video. Good job & thanks!!! Really enjoyed it!!

  • Absolutely brilliant! One of the best videos I have enjoyed watching and listening to on here. Great stuff...

  • The Aerial album reminds me very much of the Kate album Never for Ever. This song in particular, reminds me of Delius.

  • Nice video to a gorgeous track by Kate - The whole Ariel album was genius.

I was so happy when Kate collaborated with another genius in Prince!

Kate, if you are reading, I know touring isn't for you, especially with family commitments. Why not make an intimate concert for DVD with family, acquaintances, a strictly capped number of fans, etc in the audience? Please? You know it makes sense :-)

  • ♥

  • Why hasn't she been knighted?? If Jagger, Elton John and McCartney can get it , surely Kate can become a Dame!!

  • @debiedog1 Maybe in her case it wouldn't be an elatement but a debasement?

  • very good point!!!!

  • @debiedog1 She is way above all that nonsense.

  • she chose Rolf Harris to work with for a particular reason - both creative people.

  • Fantastic&Great

    Excellent work!

    Thanks for this post

  • Fantastic - ,what a blend, what genius.

    I hope theres another,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • LUKE19 you have taste m8. i'm glad you discoverd kate. let the others have the likes of lady gaga. LOL. kate's not realy about awards. it's all about the music.

  • haha thank you ^_^ it is long overdue though, shes the best ^_^ cant wait for a new album from her! :P

  • im trying to finnish my coursework (that i have been struggling with for ages) and now im listening to "a sky of honey" its flying by lol love this album ^_^

im 21 and wish more people my age got to hear kates amazing music and p.s when will kate get the lifetime achievement award at the brits?!? -_-

  • im sure the male voice at the start is none other than rolf harris

  • Comment removed

  • Yes, Rolf Harris is an artist - he has painted a portrait of Queen Elizabeth. He used to get a large brush for painting a house and a few tins of paint an do the most incredible paintings at a really quick speed.

  • A beautiful video, a work of art. Kate is a seminal genius. In pop music terms she is simply the Mother.

  • Classy :-)

  • She is an anagram of perfection forever Beautiful Kate

  • This video and BlueMorpho3's Sunset video are probably the two best Kate Bush fan videos available on Youtube.

  • Thank you !

  • I agree.

  • It's So wonderfull!

  • This is as far removed from THE! X! FACTOR! as you can be. Making 'ordinary people' stars is not a bad idea if they have written the songs as well like Kate Bush has. Otherwise it's a bit dubious not to concentrate on giving singer songwriters fame rather than just singers. There is no false, overwrought emotion in An Architect's Dream but, like much of Kate Bush's work, it is a relative hidden treasure because of the limited imaginations or rank stupidity of radio stations and the media.

  • and SOULPEACE - that is what this song is.

  • ...I could feel what he is feeling...

when the grand architects will come to the conclusion that their plans where decepted from the beginning the golden age will reign...

    WORLDPEACE

  • Just love this, watch it every now and again, love the song, and the vid is wonderful.

  • me too, it takes me away.

  • wonderful song...one of the best from Kate...

  • Ummmh ok history what is your salient point

  • when I listen to this song my breath becomes very slow and steady and my mind becomes very still

  • this video really evokes in me a profound nostalgic melancholy. i was born in 1986 and will never know this england, instead i am stuck modern england with its adoption of vulgar liberal values and trash popular culture. we have also destroyed our countryside by building ever more homes for our increasing immigrant populations. O England..... (goes off to cry..)

  • I do love Englnad..., but I am disgusted about what they have done in India for instance. And in the end the Immigrants will be blamed for cruel Capitalism. THAT makes ME cry ....

  • i make no apologies for the history of British colonialism, and i am not in any way nostalgic for the empire, or wish it to return. i am merely sad for the loss of a unique and fascinating culture, as well the beauty of a countryside decimated by increasing population growth (not from the native population which is decreasing, but from growing immigration). i am not racist, i just want to save rural England from the tyranny of the housing shortage. there is nothing i can do. thats why i am sad.

  • Thank you, for this polite answer. Now I know what you did want to say. I think so many people are sad and angry about the whole developements in our world which could be a beautyfull, and mystic place. I guess we all have to fight on qur place not to loose hope and to express our desire for beauty and truth. : )

    I

  • yes, but no human race is 'innocent', as their ancestors too did horrible things to others, for example what the now so-called 'native' Americans did to those who had already lived on the American continent, or what the various races did to each other on the Indian or African etc etc etc continents. Whatever race you are looking at, even if they had the most horrible fates in the last 100 years, their ancestors were killers and exploiters too, even if it is 3000 years ago but it was just as bad.

  • I agree wipe your tears up and smile with the beautiful Kate .....

  • In 20 years time people will be looking back, at how much better things were in 2009, than 2029.

For example people can choose what speed they want to drive, without being constantly being monitored. I bet this will change.

Just enjoy the good bits of life in 2009 :-)

  • 1989! so i can relate in exactly the same way... no matter how many amazing artists of any sort do great uplifting work these days it'll never be able to change the way the world is headed. I long to have been born from ANY age to the end of the 50s when Kate (and my parents) were born, no later! (joins you to cry) as many problems then as there are now, but without this gaping non-culture we're left with...

  • ANY age to the end of the 50s?

I recommend the period 1940-1945 then. The period 1914-1918 was also quite wonderful.

  • haha thanks for the advice :l but my point still stands...wether or not I'm in the epicenter of a massive fuck up of a war at any point in history if doesn't change anything. I could be in a war zone now but I'm not, simple as that.

  • beautiful pictures beautiful song beautiful singer beautiful artist! can anyone ask for more?

  • I've been watching this video for 3 years. It's still refreshing each time. Thanks so much!

  • I agree, Gord! I keep coming back for more . . . and more. This is Kate at her very, very best . . . and the clip is simply stunning!

  • Beautiful. Her songs really touch the soul - some creap up on you..

  • Absolutely lovely tune and video to boot.

  • Yes, She is a Genius, Crazy and Love!ly

  • its amazing that when i listened to most songs on a sky of honey i wasnt impressed but now im listening to them in order its amazing :P

kate bush is a genious! :D

  • I love this video it always makes me feel sad that all these people and times are long gone.

  • mesmerizing video had me hypnotised from start to finish especially as ive been to most of those places.

  • Stunning !

    thank you

  • My favourite song on the album and this video is beautiful. Thank you, I have tears in my eyes

  • had no idea this kind of footage existed!...i am enriched!...thanks!

  • My Engand back then my beautiful Engand Thanks Kate

  • I keep coming back to this, I love it.

Who can explain why I get tears in my eyes and just feel an intense love for all these people filmed, who I don't know (yet!)?

Great thanks to: all who are shown; all who filmed the clips; Kate Bush for this music (with Rolf Harris guest-vocal intro); Auguste Rodin for his sculpture The Kiss; and StanRd2005 for posting this here.

  • Can you tell me the connection between Auguste Rodin's sculpture "The Kiss" and this video/song? Is it in the video or does Kate refer to it in her song? I'm dying to know, as I don't even know what this sculpture is to begin with.

  • Thanks for asking, sorry for late reply!

You can find the sculpture online (eg Wikipedia). Did Kate have it in mind? I don't know! Lyrics that suggest it to me are: "The flick of a wrist, twisting down to the hips.. so the lovers begin, with a kiss, in a tryst" & "Curving and sweeping, rising and reaching, I could feel what he was feeling". "Lines like these have got to be an Architect's dream":

in her song Kate refers to painting, specifically, but the title I think implies a wider scope.

  • superbe chanson cette vidéo est sympa

  • i like the video! good work!

  • I love Bjork, Alison Goldfrapp and Tori Amos. But Kate still is the master, and still has some moves to teach.

  • @Aueneye

    Kate will NEVER be equalled.

There is only one Kate and there is NOBODY like her and there never will be.

  • @Aueneye

I would agree :) I've loved her since "Never for Ever", and she has progressed in brilliance with each album since then. I love Tori's World, Fiona Apple is shocking good, Bjork amazes and delights, Siouxie Sioux is amazing, but there's only one Kate.

The true test, 3 artists work on a desert island:

    1) Mozart, well of course....

    2) Kate, because I can always find something new in her work

    3) Nina Hagen, who has the most amazing voice of all)

  • wonderful! t4p

  • thanks for sharing this...lovely

  • Beautiful

  • beutiful indeed

  • My favorite thing on YouTube. It never stops making me feel somehow better about the world.

  • Comment removed

  • I adore this song, for me possibly the highlight of a truly great album, and this video complements it wonderfully. Well done indeed!

  • this is so beautiful. the film flickers pulse with the music.

  • Oh My God! This video is a rare pearl!

  • I love the simplicity of life portrayed in this video

  • Gerry you are not the only one ,i just cant get enough of it and it has been in my favs since i found it .The video goes with this song so well ,i am sure if kate ever saw this she would love it ,i know i do .One word sums it up for me and thats moving.the song and the film.

  • I watch your video over and over. It is a masterpiece regarding music, lyrics and images. Thank you so very much.

  • Glad you like it !!

  • beautiful...

this is one of my favourite videos on youtube

  • So, so beautiful........bless you Kate.

  • it's that voice, those sounds, I drown in her music and love her.

For me Aerial is her best album.

  • rolf harris ;)

  • Great Video never seen it before.

  • " ...It's just great."

  • AERIAL is such a perfect and brilliant album. I love the music from Kate Bush so much...this video is beautiful and lovely

  • Welcome back, Kate.

  • oh...I am crying...my brother is an artist

  • What I meant to say was, for four minutes and forty eight seconds we were all in heaven.....

  • For 4:48 where all in heaven........arn't we....nice one Kate.

  • I have no words to say how beatiful this video is!

  • i read through some of the comments, has anyone had the pleasure of seeing kate bush perform during one of her official tours ? it strikes me just hearing her voice, it would interest me to know firsthand accounts. thanks for putting up this video. it's different.

  • My answer to that is no. She only toured once in 1979 with 'The Tour Of Life', although she has obviously made appearances on TV e.g. chat shows and a handful of one-off events eg The Secret Policeman's Ball and with Dave Gilmour.

  • Such a beautiful Woman!!! An artist Non-Parallel!!!!

  • Haven't come back to this in a while but it's still favourite youtube song/vid combo.

  • Lovely! I think I can die now.

  • это песня и весь её последний альбом - это шедевр!

  • Reminds me of university. This is a beautiful song and we cannot not be thankful for KB.

I have all of her albums and collect her vinyl also. It would be greatly appreciated if she made a musical appearance one day for us her loyal fans!

Will we always be kept waiting?

  • JUST A F-----G BRILLIANT SONG, FROM A F-----G GENIUS, like the video to.

  • nice atmosperic

  • That's nice to know

  • If you love this song, I strongly suggest that you listen to 'Watching you without me'

from Kate Bush's 1985 album 'Hounds of love' because they use the same kind of quietly funky beats and epitomise the same kind of atmosphere.

  • I strongly suggest the same. Now that you made that point I can hear that! I never noticed it before.

  • Yes, although Kate Bush hasn't specifically compared those 2 songs, she has said that 'Aerial' was an attempt to replicate her 'Hounds of Love' album- after a few listens, I even think that Aerial arguably surpasses it, partly because it includes more aspects from other stages of her career (Mrs Bartolozzi is like 'The Kick Inside' era, Pi is like 'The Red Shoes' era.)

  • I've got to say I prefer Watching you without me. This has a nice mellow feel though, just prefer the other song.

  • I've written about this song before but I just want to add that touches like 0.41-0.43, which I assume is something like a bass guitar, coupled with the tribal sounding opening, are an example of the quirky touches in Kate Bush songs that are not just for the sake of it but seem to heighten the sense of mystery and history in the songs. The Stone Roses used such tribal touches as well.

  • Heard this song first in a radio show and bought the album the other day. Perfect album, keeps you dreaming.

  • thank you its so beautiful it makes me cry.. i love kate bush madly and always will

  • a great slice of British social history set to a warm balming song

  • Had this in my favorites for 2 yrs now , never tire of watching it, beautiful song and fantastic old film , for me the best vid on Youtube , i can't praise any higher can i?

  • Best on Youtube ! I'm glad you like it so much

and took the time to make a comment on it , that go to everybody, it warms my heart everytime I get a nice comment .

  • Its just the perfect video to go with this amazing music. Thank you for enhancing Kate's work. How many people have ever done that?

  • I love the dreamy feel of this song. It's very beautiful and relaxing.

  • hilarious wonderful!

  • brilliant video. actually enhances my apprecation of the song.

  • And he's so pleased.

It's the best mistake he could make.

    This is absolutely monumental.

  • Look at any review for Aerial and this song does not get mentioned as much as it deserves. It's not soppy, it's like the 'Watching You Without Me' or 'Experiment IV' of the album, a brilliantly, subtly mysterious song- a great ode to creativity. I always think of this video when I hear it- it's brilliant.

  • It's a great song and I'm glad you like the Video ,thank you for your comments.

  • An amazing song......shes incredible...never fails to continually push the boundaries with her music......

And I'd LOVE to give it to her up her babooshka.....but I digress....KATE IS QUEEN

  • Great song, thanks

  • I've been in North America all my life. Only left Canada the first time a year or so ago, but I hope to someday go to sites like the ones displayed in this marveloues video :)

  • I'm pining for the U.K. now ! Haven't been back in a year. Love Kate, too.

  • WOW! Thank you for inviting me Tahllulah. Mary

  • Tahllulah sent me your way and she has great taste in videos! The images are exquisitely elegant and the music is soft and mellow! 5 classy and artistic stars!

  • Beautiful!!!

  • What a wonderful find! Thank you for sending me here,Tahllulah :)

  • dat was sho nuff beautiful

    thanks Tahlullah fo sendin dis

  • Thankyou for this and thanks Tahlullah!

  • My friend Tahlullah sent me this video...and what a superb one it is.I love the ladies fashion back in those days...

  • I consider this song to be arguably the most richly beautiful, subtly moving, piece of art Kate Bush has created.

  • I'm only familiar with Aerial plus the classics but I haven't heard better than this. When the deep tones opened at 00:24 (where the car crosses the bridge against a mountain backdrop) - that's when I knew it was going to be special. It's truly beautiful.

    Happy New Year!

  • I was entranced by this. I was drawn in by the reds and golds of the song; there is something almost epic in the way its many layers find these long-dead ghosts, these anonymous people. It conveys a sense of eternity, as if they are still somehow around.

I broke down the third time I watched it.

I can't do it justice with words.
