C'mon people he's playing thru a SS Fender not a full rack of gear. I've heard people demo Mesa Rectumfryer's on here and they make them sound like total shit. This guys getting killer metal tones outta this thing good enough to be recorded. This tone actually reminds me of my buddy's old Marshall Valvestate 100 head back in the day. Good playing and grindage bro!
surprising for a fender but still garbage, its thin and theres no clarity plus its lacks a bottom end entirly not to mention the single coils in the guitar offer no punch or gain unless your getting the top line shit, may compare to marshall since they also lack in bottom end but as far as tonal giants go, id go with Mesa boogie mark Iv or dual and triple recto, ENGL savage or higher models, or framus cobra, or fortin natas all are extremely good for metal even diezel einstein amps are sick
@dedej88 I dunno, man... I use an Ibanez( SZR520... big chunk of mahogany for a body, it's super thick sounding) going through my Fender London Reverb with a blues driver and a noise suppressor. That's it. Sounds dirty as fuck, I love it( It's not your typical metal tone, but it sounds cool to me.). I dunno. guess I get tired of the oversaturated metal tone you hear nowadays with the Mesas and whatnot.
@thehornypuppy The mic is clipping. The amp sounds a shitload better than how this video portrays it (well, for a shitty solid-state budget amp, it sounds decent). But this amp isn't even close in comparison to my Jet City. See my latest vids to hear what it sounds like.
guud tone! if it suits ur playing fuck the brand whores!the unpaid hypers that brag about their brand!! with no endorsement perks @ all none!!!!im not some asshole that speaks with no experience ive owned a few marshalls, fenders, crate, boogie, all it takes is a well known guitarist to swear by an amp and....every body wants one!!!then the price goes up!supply and demand, my ass!its called get it while the getting is guud! im a diy guy now theres lots of amp kits on the net!
i recently owned a fender stage 100 head. the distortion is about as good as your run of the mill crate. that equates to garbage. if you want quality tone, get a quality amp. you dont need to break the bank to get a good tube amp, check my channel for a sample of my bugera head.
@jw11432 This will no longer be my main amplifier. I just got my Jet City JCA100h head in the mail today, and I'm expecting the cab to be coming tomorrow or the next day. That will be an all tube head and I payed a total of $895 for the entire stack (Musician's Friend was having a sale). It's not designed for metal, but I have heard metal played through it. To my ears it sounds better than what most people recommend for metal guitarists. (6505, Mesa Rec, etc.)
@krustynails Thats why you hold it around your mid-section.. But I guess you need to learn guitar first. Sorry I thought you were a guitarist.. My bad.
You got a really nice sound out from that amp!!...the important thing is to keep mids down, bass and treble high. Awesome technique in your playing, congrats!!
what amp is that again? Is it a older model fender? Cause I was trying to find it and I haven't found it anywhere...definitely not on Fender's site...
@NiGHTRiDER9001 ok...I gotta get me one of those...I love my American Strat with the Seymour Duncan HotRails on it....I'd love to get a Fender Amp to go with it. I'm not a tube snob so I could care less if it's SS. Besides with that much distortion (like I play) you can't tell anyway! Sweet rig, sweet playing
Give this guy 5 stars please. He has just shown all of you fuck faces the same shit that I've been trying to tell about Fender's being good for metal. Especially the silver grilled Frontman series. I've played Kranks, Mesas, and Marshalls...but I'm sorry-people need to get rid of that whole idea of Fender amps being unmetal. They're very good for chunky tones. They're the chunkiest bitches on the market!!!
iv played the head. you can make it sound heavy at low volumes but once you crank it past like 5 it looses all heavyness and no way does it rival mesa or 6505..thats just retarded. ok for a band practice but thats it
hey man that tone sounds awesome i have the same amp and i was wondering what the settings were, if u could please tell me that would be great just send me a message thank u so much
I can't remember the exact settings when I made this vid, but I usually have the volume at 2, treble at 4, mid at 1, and bass around 5. However, a lot of my sound comes from my high output bridge pickup (Seymour Duncan Hot-Rails).
hey what are u tuned too? and what type of condenser mic is best for recording a guitar that low cause i am recording soon.please get back to me thanks. your sound is sick.
I used the MH-500 for like 5 years gigging and I still have it. That tone definitely rivals it in many aspects. It's nice to not hear the generic mesa/6505 tone in heavy riffing for a change.
hey dude !! how are you tuning the amp settings?

I think you got a pretty damn good sound considering it's a Fender solid state and you are plugged straight in.
Don't listen to anyone that says otherwise.
You are a good guitarist too bro.

mrchadchad1 2 years ago
I'm tuned to drop C. The best mic for amp recording (in my opinion) is a Shure SM57. It has a much fuller sound than any other mic I've ever heard.
NiGHTRiDER9001 2 years ago
great cover.. but it still sounds like a cold fender solid-state amp.. ( i own one myself, no offense)
i mean, you can play metal with a fender amp but mesa boogie and marshall would make it sound better.
(plug your guitar into a dual rectifier and hear the difference)
