well we can confirm one thing about Nero's Devil Trigger, it had the same left hand to that of Vergil's DT, the left hand is the sheath for Yamato. We also know that the Bio Angelos in the game were made using remnants of Nero Angelo. Though Nero and Vergil has no relation what-so-ever, it's safe to assume that Nero's DT is in fact Vergil's one, but like Dante, has changed into something much more nicer looking than in DMC3.

Ok, then explain this. DMC3 is the prequel. Nothing can replace it. DMC2 is a SEQUEL. Same like DMC3, Nothing can replace a sequel. So, saying that, means that it can't be either the prequel or the sequel. And also, if the DMC series was in the order you said(DMC3, DMC1, DMC2, DMC4) then why would Dante go from a person who messes with/jokes around with the demons in DMC1 and then goes serious in DMC2 and then back to joking around with the demons in DMC4?? Doesn't make sense at all...
