Great news is there was always a rumor that certain seasons of the DVD's that are out of her show were destroyed.. nope..they took a while to come out.. the seasons 1,2 and 3 are the very best look-wise..they had booklets in them telling you what show was on ... the otheres were still with 2 -3 dvd's in the seasons, yet they weren't as elaborate as the others but still great and classics!!! So all 7 seasons are out now.. : ))))))))
This was always my favorite show when I was little to watch with my mother.. it was so funny and I always swore I was going to have that apartment. To this day I still think it's cute... No one would really want an apt with no bedroom but it was a cute situation, Rhoda, her best friend upstairs, her great friends at work, and the apt, although considered small was better than the one she got in the last couple of seasons.. still love it and loved it when Oprah had her on and recreated it.
Wow, not only am I again nostalgic for MTM, now I'm also nostalgic for a network (Nick at Nite) that based its programming on nostalgia for classic television series like MTM which, since I'd seen it first in the seventies on CBS, I already felt nostalgic about when I watched it (again) on Nick at Nite in the early nineties. My head hurts.
Nick at Nite was awesome with this and "The Dick Van Dyke Show" back in the 90s. What the hell happened to Nick? I t's awful now. There are no classic TV shows on anymore. All the shows are lame. Very sad.
@staytunedfor OMG I remember the Mary-Thon too! :) I was 15 years old in 1992 and it was my first introduction to this show. Feel in love with it at first sight.
Can anyone tell me why Classic TV is no longer show on Television? We have TCM for Classic Movies but no longer any outlet for Classic TV. It sucks.
Bill St. James is the announcer for these promos (he was "Nick At Nite's" resident announcer during the late '80s, right through the '90s); his most recent voice-over assignment was NBC's coverage of the Winter Olympics from Vancouver.
Thanks sooooooooo much for uploading these! They are all GREAT! The only one I actually remember is the saxophone one, lol. Gee.. I wish N@N and TVLD were like this again!
Along with her husband, Mary Tyler Moore also had a major recording label in Nashville, known as MTM Records. Sadly after the buy out of MTM Enterprise, the record label was closed down.
whoever "lied" and stated the remainder of her series was coming out to complete the 7 season dvd set? From what I understand, they were distroyed in the archives along with many other older t.v. shows that they were not able to recover. There would be absolutely no reason at all for her not to release the remainders. Some of us are die hard fans. Hey if you know so much, where the heck are they? I hate people that give out false hope!!!
I loved Nick at Nite. Thats where I watched the Mary Tyler Moore show for the first time! Block party summer was great, a whole evening of MTM show. Thanks for posting!
I was hooked on this show from the first week it was introduced as a "Marython" in 1992. I watched this every night at 9pm and then after the initial run it was aired back-to-back episodes at 10 and 10:30 for several years.... Loved it!
I remember these promos. I was born the year the show ended so I never got to see this show when it aired, so I began watching when NAN started airing it and I immediately loved the show. Frankly Nick at Nite now really stinks - absolutely no shows on there that I even remotely like
I love the style and music of these old promos. It breaks my heart to remember how great Nick-at-Nite used to be. Block Party summers, themed marathons such as "Very Very Ida", it was all so great. I miss it all. I have this show on DVD...but it's just not the same as watching it on Nick-at-Nite. The network used to create such a great viewing atmosphere for these shows.
I have always LOVED the blue bonnet lady in the background from 4:07-to the end. It is so funny because she looks at Mary as though she's crazy when she tosses her hat. She has become famous in my household! :)
I remember all of these! And it makes me feel really weird to know I was only 9 when they aired. I love this show! Nick at Nite used to be so much better than it is now.
I'm 24 and I feel the same way. I'm not that much older than you if you consider how old the show is...
I used to watch MTM show when I was a kid by myself. None of my friends even knew I was such a fan of it and I discovered it independently of my parents or anything.
I'm only 16 years old and I remember promos like this on Nick @ Nite. I REALLY miss those days and these shows being played on tv. It makes me cry because of how much I miss these fun times.
N@N was such a class outfit back then. I remember how they'd always preface each episode with a little introductory blub showing the episode's number and title, along with an interesting tidbit such as who guest starred in it, where the writer got a certain idea, etc.
I also loved their "Bob Newhart Show" promo, which consisted of dozens of clips of people saying "Hi, Bob!" shown all in a row.
Back in 1996, I bought the book, "Nick at Nite's Classic TV companion." It had descriptions of all of the episodes of this show and others that were part of Nick at Nite's lineup at the time.
I agree with you...I don't know what happened to TV land these days they seen to get rid of all the classic shows and they only have a lot of reality shows.......I don't get it...what happened to all the Classic shows I thaught thats what TV land was about..Classic TV..
they should BRING BACK MARY MONDAYS!

Aaaah I have like, 30 tapes of The MTM Show and The DVD Show with all of these commercials.
Why'd they have to sell out? I'd rather watch this than Everybody Hates Chris...

40 years and I never until today knew it was "you can have the town." I always thought it was "you can never tell."
I remember when they brought MTM to the schedule with the 7-night Marython ... I taped as much as I could. N@N was the best in the 80s and 90s.
