  • When I first did these tutorials everything worked (Perfectly!). Now I when I tried to update everything got really slow and so I deleted the android skd and eclipse to get everything clear ( I know this was not a good idea). But now when Installing the ADT plugin or updating everything is still slow I have a 2Mbit/s connection, and the download is about 3kb freezes 20kb freezes then jumps to 200kb/370kb freezes , any ideas on whats going on?

  • that is a big/slow download, grrr

  • i checked every available box in the manager to install, I hope that doesn't cause problems...

  • starcraft2 wow bestgame

  • do i need to root my android device in order to put my developed apps on it?

  • @sid07desai nope! just go to (on ur device) settings > applications > Unknown sources (make sure thats checked).

Then after u make the app transfer it to ur device!

    No root required

  • Can I use Netbeans instead of Eclipse?

  • @leicarido that should be possible :)

  • lol I can see why you are tired, is 2:42 AM

  • starcraft 2 lol

  • if you have problem on ubuntu 11.10, error

  • dude how come your SDK and AVD managers are in one window mine open seperately?

  • im done of talking... anymore... im going to bed

  • I love using google chrome search feature

  • @tatecheddar thanks a lot man. I was like "WTF" when it said i dnt have JDK installed" lol

  • hahaah what the hell after C# and java.. hahahaha i like this mEN!! haahah

  • I'm not getting "Android " option in eclipse......

  • Love it when he adds a slightly bit of humor to these tutorials!

    Keep the humor up!

Note: This is the first tutorial where I actually watch the next part(s) ;)

  • @AppOmaker But what's the fun of that?

  • If you've got people who don't even know how to extract a zip file, they probably shouldn't be doing something as complex as programming.

  • The installation procedure is awful. It kept erroring out when downloading the packages.

  • @KDALove exit out then right click on android manage and run as administrator

  • im only doing andriod apps cuz i dont have a mac so i cant use xcode :-(

  • @TheGeekTraining same with me

  • @monofono2006 ikr

  • WTF?! How do i install all those packeges,? where from?

  • You sound like Alan from Two and a Half Men. But thanks this and other videos helped me a lot!

  • Windows rullz Java lmao great vids yea I said the same when I opened Java DAMMM WITCH ONE!!!!!!

  • The hell with my System... It's i5 and while running the emulator I've monitored only 1 core is processing full... Is there any way to utilize the other 4 cores to speed up the emulator...???/

  • @FedericoJimbo You're such an idiot. i5 doesn't mean you have 5 cores. You probably only have 1 core. If you had more than 1 core, it'll probably say something like, "dual core i5" or something. There is no 5 core processor. there is 1, 2, 4, 6, and rarely 8.

You can see how many cores you have by going to Ctrl-Alt-Delete (task manager), Performance, and if you have more than 1 bar under "CPU Usage History", you have that many cores. If only one, you have 1 core.

  • @RobloxScriptTutorial Oh sorry men.... what i mean to say is to utilize the remaning 3 cores... upon my research my system has only 2 physical cores the and the remaning 2 cores is virtual.... so how can I utilize the remaining cores for android emulation??

  • @FedericoJimbo Well... I don't think you really need more than two cores for emulation, because most mobile devices (including androids) DON'T have more than two cores. So... you want to get your system to as close as possible to the other devices so you can test the speed of your code as effectively as possible. You don't need your other cores for that. And, if you put ALL of your cores on emulation, which ones would be running your OS?

  • @RobloxScriptTutorial If that so, why the hell android emulation in the PC is so damn slow compared to the real device. Is there any means to speeden the processing power?

  • @FedericoJimbo No clue... I never really worked with Android things very much. I don't even have an android. T_T I'm going to get one soon, though. I just do development for PC, and possibly apple later. Sorry, man.

  • so anyways

  • so anyways!

  • StarCraf II there~ ;p

  • great tut as usual :) might want to add a little explanation for those dl'ling the mac version. Just my two cents ;)

  • The first day at university , told us how to download Eclipse for java development, today I refresh all I learned hahahaha

  • Eclipse IDE for Java Developers, 99 MB

    Downloaded ¿1,618,899 Times? Decrease?

    :/

    nice tutorial

  • "that is just F'ING great!" lol

  • chrome ftw :)) Even in some point, it is little bit slow but at all, it still rocks!

  • Do you need eclips?

  • the solve for the error : " java se is not installed , please install java se before installing sdk" . it's very simple . just click "back" and then click "next" again and it should recognize your version of jdk. :)

  • Thanks Man!

    So anyway!

  • for anyone having issues downloading /installing the packages run sdk manager as administrator

  • @snopiir thanks! i was about to pull my hair!

  • Hey... I downloaded jdk with jfx.

WhEn I started android sdk, it said not able to detect jdk on your computer.

    Help.

    Thanks.

  • @Illuminator91 you have to register the product right at the end of the java jdk install, its a pain but that is the only way to get the sdk working at all... dont worry the register page pops up right after you reinstall it

  • @Illuminator91 I ran into this problem as well. I guess it's a bug in the installer. When it tells you that it cannot find the JDK just click back and then click next again. It should then recognize it fine.

  • @tatecheddar thanks a lot xD

  • @tatecheddar thanks dude ;)

  • @tatecheddar

Thank fucking god I seen this comment.

    Thank you tate.

  • @tatecheddar FUUUUUU i reinstalled java 2 times and it still didn't work thanks for the tip ;).

  • I want to go to harvard :( lol

  • hey i have downloaded eclipse IDE for java EE developers (second option 206 mb) so will it do the job or i need to download the first one that u have downloaded

  • if this is a bitch to install... imagine MAKING this

  • Comment removed

  • And btw guys, tomorrow (Norwegian timezone, GMT+1(I think)), will there come a new version, (I think) which is the 11th version, mabye that will contain the bug fix? (:

  • Hmm.. As I see Bucky is using the Android SDK Revision 8, and the newest out there is 10.. The 10 is not working, so why not just download the 8th version? In the download link, it should end up with like: installer_r10-windows.exe (for Windows)... Just replace that with like: installer_r08-windows.exe ... (: (08 stands for 8)

It's working good to me so far... :D

  • Failed to fetch URL ... D:

  • mine dosent install even if i restart the android sdk, what do i do?

  • 'So anyways... Just/so go ahead...'

  • that 1 disliker dude is crazy... I mean it

  • how about an opera widget?

  • does anyone else get this message? when try to open eclipse it says

Failed to load the JNI shared library "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_23\bin\..\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll".

  • does it matter that I have GALILEO and not HELIO? (eclipse)

  • Comment removed

  • hey, I just thought I'd let you know, I don't know if I'm the only person that had this problem but my sdk archive wouldn't install at first.

I had to run as admin (even though I am) windows 7 home premium 32 bit

Just incase anyone else cant figure it out, It's not that complicated to me but some people need info spoon fed, Great vids man! keep em coming

  • 8:06 Don't use windows bucky! Linux

  • @Admiral3131 he uses windows cause thats wat most people use

  • For those of you who didnt know. After you get the hang of this with Bucky, if you build your apps w AppMobbi they have a bridge over where you can upload your android apps to iTunes. Just a thought for those who want to capture both markets.

  • we need to know java... -> we know what eclipse is... anyway nice job :D

  • More, please :-D

  • some elecution lessons would be good for you; it seems that you have lazy diction. 0.47 (0:42) sounds like: I don't want to give you guys a dr-rink !. What a meanie, seeing as you've already drunk. 1:18 Eggs edible fry. ! 1:35 Bannenewas And Saweenywesz. (hilarious) ! No, in English it is "I have to scratch my ear" ! Because it is itchy. Errors not "earrs" It is "next" not SnextSnextsnext. 4:11 Google had an advertisment showing the simplified searching. 7:00 wierd wenking ironit.
  • @CushionOfWealth what is this English class now? Nobody cares how he well he enunciates his words, he gives us the lessons we need and some comic relief in the end.

Also at the end of this tutorial he even says he is going to bed...maybe he was already tired. Guess you just have that much time on your hands and feel to the need to put people down for their language skills.

Another great tutorial Bucky, i actually had the wrong Eclipse downloaded, thanks for this and keep em coming

  • @infdecoy Dear infidel, Don't you call me a nobody; I know other people who say the same thing as me about his articulation. . You've just been living in the North America for too long; why don't you go somewhere different and study to get rid of your monolingualism, try Hebrew. . Don't think that just because you use the device "wrong eclipse downloaded" that you are forgiven for your impertinant outburst. . Cheers. from, del-boy.
  • @YesYesYouAreRight wtf are you talking about you ignorant fucktard? Do you know me? I have lived in Europe, Central and South America..and no im not counting my 15 month deployment in Iraq, so before you spout off more racist ignorance why dont you try and culture yourself instead? Why would I want to learn Hebrew? what an odd choice of languages you offer.

  • @infdecoy Dear infadel, Why don't you but out of it; mind your own business, or are you Bucky's civil partner? . Your response reveals that you have no idea where the boundary of your skin lies. . Speak to your psychiatrist about your merging with others; unless that is if you are not Bucky's civil partner. . Don't write back. . Cheers. from, del-boy.
  • @CushionOfWealth wtf dood? you have some issues, go tell your mom that she let you suck on her tit for too long. You need to make sense with your ramblings. Call me infadel all you want, ill re-enlist just to invade whatever country you live in.. wish i could block your doucheness

  • @CushionOfWealth oh wait...i can block ya haha

  • Bucky.. Could you be nice and make one game in the java game development tutorials?

  • 3 days.........

  • So, who was the old/original Boston?

  • Download, download and then I go to bed ; ) Brilliant! ; )

  • I'm sorry, but you should invest in higher resolution screen recording. :D Anyhow love you man, no homo.

  • @xXChaosHavokXx

LOL, invest in that? He can record in 1080p but everything would be so small you'll have to watch in full screen.

  • Love it Bucky, can't wait until tutorial 3!

  • I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it on here, but I think theres a problem with the android sdk on Windows 7 x64. It doesn't recognize that you already have the JDK installed. So if you have this error, try using the zip file version.

  • You should have done this with Netbeans. It's a much better "text editor" than Eclipse.

  • Great video :D, keep em commin. Only bad thing about android is that u need to pay 25$ to be able to upload android aps on market, at least i seen so. Correct me if i am wrong :)

  • @Dvojnovakazealot 25$ is a lot cheaper than buying a crapintosh for IPod apps.

  • @Dvojnovakazealot I think that is the Apple app market for iPhone that charges $25 but I could be wrong...

  • Come back :( Wake up, you don't need to sleep!

  • im really excited for this series, you rock bucky!

  • If you (like Bucky) didn't notice, there's a checkbox in the security warning window before you open eclipse. Uncheck it to get rid of the message.

  • bucky your aswome cant wait for the rest of these tutorials iv been doing java for some time now using eclipse so using java to develope an actual android game will be aswome...i have an iphone thoe lol sadface lol i loved ur dev for iphone apps but i dont like xcode and dont hav a mac

  • Go google chrome

  • You know. It would be more helpful if you ACTUALLY SHOW US HOW TO DO IT INSTEAD OF YOU TELLING US WHAT YOU ALREADY DID.

  • @Techn0Junki3 If you need to be shown how to download a file, just go kill yourself

  • @alexz003 I know right.. But he may also need help on how to kill himself.

  • Everytime I look on youtube and see you put a new video on, I do my happy dance while screaming like a little girl. EEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

  • @jag9998 Umm you can subscribe and get an email when he uploads a vid :D

  • if u are gettin an error for the sdk manager- make sure u run it as admin

  • Ok.. Now can some one expline.. I have a iPhone but i dont have a mac but i want to develope iPhone or Andorid apps, wtf to do? buy a andorid? is it worth it? or get a mac?

  • @7715z TRUST ME.android apps are SO lame.developers ARE NOT making money or ever will.Google themselves are not happy with the app store. develop for apple instead.Look at their app store and see how much better the store is compared to android.android app store is full of junk .I was gonna start with android but after looking in to it it will be a waste of time in the long run.No one is buying android apps.Just invest in a mac..unless you wanna make more butt and boobs apps for android(boring)

  • @johnydee187 PART 1

lol, I find this comment very funny. I am no java/android expert but I have done my share of app development for android and have looked into iphone app dev. I would take android dev over iphone dev any day for many reasons. One is the apple app store takes up to 70% of your profits while android takes 10% maximum (or something close to that).

  • @TheMedina well from what i read ,apple only takes 30% of your profit. idk where your getting 70%.And the diff between both app stores is that apple has better ones that people will pay for appose to androids(i own a android)theres not one app i would buy from androids app store.Problem is that theres too many people like that.Ive paid for LOTS of apps from itunes(like street fighter 4,ultimate mortal kombat 3)which are bad ass games that android will never have becuase its not capable.

  • @johnydee187

    PART 2

Also, java is multi-platform so while I could work on my android project with my friends mac, He couldn't make apps on my PC or my Linux distro. also, the reason nothing good is coming out is because the market isn't as big. But that is also a good thing because the iphone app store has hundreds of thousands of apps to compete with and thus you are less likely to hit it big. And the android market is expanding and there will be a better market, patience is key ;)

  • PART2. thats why androids app store is hurtting because theres nothing worth buying. apples customers are diff because everyone buys all kinds of apps so you dont have to worry about competition.i tried androids sdk before making the move to iphones sdk.android just plain sucks and you will soon learn that. just aint worth it for me.look it up for yourself androids market is horrible, full of hackers and security issues. well i wish you luck and hope android works out for you...

  • @johnydee187 You're so rational and unbiased.

  • @MelvinSF um....ok...whatever that means..but your probably a underage kid who disagrees with what i said and thats fine i dont hate..its your opinion and thats ok.But iam 26 and learned alot in my life time and have been through alot.Try not to argue with people who are older and know more and "been there",and"done that".all i can say is that you will live and learn...

  • @johnydee187 Um. I'm just saying that you're exaggerating with the Android hate, by saying things like that Android isn't capable of running "bad ass"-games. That's not true. It's perfectly capable. Calling the Market "horrible" and making it seem like a catalog of viruses is misleading too. You seem to be irrationally hating on Android.

Your age is in NO way related to this matter, nor does it mean I can't argue or that you're right/wrong. But I'm not looking for a fight, I don't hate either.

  • @MelvinSF i own a android phone, so i dont hate the platform. it really isnt capable of such great games.take for example UNO,the iphone has online play.so if i wanted to play you we can even though we live thousands of miles away.On androids version theres no online play just againts the computer.and its really horrible.if android has a game that came from the iphone its cutdown somehow which makes the game suck on android. If its capable why cant it have such small details?see what i mean?

  • @johnydee187 It depends on developers

  • @MelvinSF also android is infested with hackers, and some of them have apps in the android app store that send back code to them and they can see your personal info, and your web pages.so if you were checking your bank account, they saw it.Those are the kinds of apps apple rejects from their app store because they were sending back code.Like when you download a android app it will show you what it can access from your phone. You dont have to worry about that from apple because they DONT accept that

  • @johnydee187 It's capable, it just doesn't have the developer support yet, since the iPhone's a larger market. Refer to Pocket Legends and Dungeon Defenders. I highly doubt Android apps can just read all browser info. Some may access personal data, but that's why you should read the permissions (and Google should improve that system). Not saying you don't have a point. Less controlled is going to be less secure. But for me as a beginning dev Android is great, and to me as a user, it's great too.

  • @MelvinSF I own a android(fascinate) and love it.trust me go with apple dev, if not be open to it just in case.I wish android had games that are on the iphone. the best apple dev wont even go with android. And their GREAT at dev.check out predators, time crisses 2,altered beast, ghost and goblins, jenga, sonic 4,ironman 2,rebirth,the simpsons, pinball HD,zombie smash on the iphone and see how good they are.But check out each one.Dont waste time on silly apps for android and worst yet,not make money

  • @johnydee187 Thanks, I appreciate the tip. Android is only now beginning to mature, and opportunity for revenue will increase I'm sure. Of course I'm open to Apple development too, I like working across different platforms and languages and will surely try iPhone development once I have the equipment. I just don't think that Android development sucks, so to speak.

  • @MelvinSF well like i tell everyone else i wish you luck and i do hope androids market gets better becuz i hate going through it and seeing lame apps.I want to put my 4inch screen to work. And i hope they have lots of movies to buy from too.Iam all about having lots of movies on the go..

  • @MelvinSF only thing i hate about androids and big screens is that theres not much movies to buy anywhere, blockbuster app sucks.I have a big screen and its useless.on my ipod 4th gen i can download almost everything thats on tv from the app store,i even downloaded the whole season of prison break. And this sucks becuz you cant get stuff like that on androids market and it pisses me off.i only have root for free wifi(to power my ipod)and a flash app(whoo hoo) android is like 10 yrs behind apple.

  • @johnydee187

Lol, google checks applications.... You are so stupid....

  • @johnydee187 I agree with what you say, but thats why we developers need to be innovative, because as they say, one app can make all the difference. If i made five popular apps that would make the market much more popular. It may not be worth it now, but as i have said before, when some good apps roll in, it'll expand. I hope :)

  • MOREEEE bUCKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! COME ON!!!!! You should be popping these things out like chinease woman with babies!

  • @Ayabrego a chinese woman with babies and no child limit

  • can't wait for next episode.

    thank you so much.

  • Hey bucky what's the best android phone in your opinion?

  • Camtasia Studio is really good, but yes it takes a whole lot of power...

don't expect to run the windows aero theme xD

  • So I try and install the android sdk and it says that I do not have the java sdk installed. I definitely have the java sdk installed! I tried moving the android installer to the same folder as my java sdk, but no luck. (Scratches ear...). I've been making java apps on my pc with and without eclipse for about a year now, yet it says I don't have the sdk installed.

    Any thoughts?

  • @anaik1 For some reason the setup program is not detecting the jdk, check your environment variables, PATH and JAVA_HOME

  • yesssssss i come home and.. yes! another android tut!!!

  • Eclipse FTW

  • "the one with the wierd icon next to it" xD

  • i hope you go far on android tutorial. btw, how do you learn all these kind of things??? you an alien?

  • so go ahead, and gonna wanna
