How do you think this jacket matches up against the Alpinestars RC-1 and other $400-500 Alpinestars sportbike jackets in terms of protection and quality?

I'm new to riding and looking to get my first jacket... I really like this one but with my budget I'm trying to just get one for now and we get quite a bit of rain here in California. Are the perforation and stretch panels going to make this a poor choice for a four season jacket or is the amount of water that would come through those not a big deal?

Does all the Scorpion stuff fit a size larger or just this jacket?

For the most part just this jacket. I find the Stinger and All-In Leather jackets are spot on. How are the knee guards??

Well they're definitely not friendly for people with big calves, I can say that much. I'm trying to find a way of modifying them somehow to extend that third strap because no matter how much I tighten them up they seem to gradually ride down the leg. That third strap is key to keeping them from doing that.

I just bought the All-In jacket and I absolutely love it. As far as the legguards go, I was able to fix the problem by going to my local fabric shop and picking up some stick-on velctro strips. I stuck the strips to the back of each other creating double sided velcro strips that were approximately 4" long, making an "extension" for the third strap which was too short. do something similar. It's worth doing and is the only way to make them work if your calves are larger than, say, 16".

What would be a good cold weather leather jacket? Brand doesn't matter although I do like the Icon Daytona jackets.

I just bought me a Scorpion All-In which is great. I even wear it as my winter coat when not riding.
