@ickidy LG's been in the phone biz for a long time. I've owned several going back to the Envy 1 and 2. You comment sucks. Try giving reasons why LG makes poor phones. LG and Samsung are big South Korean manufacturers.
For the "rounds" that you mentioned, LG is pretty prestigious in all of those (camera, sound recorder, or pretty much anything that has to do with a camera). You said the Spectrum won on the front facing camera. How is that win Rezound has 2 MP and Spectrum has 1.3?
You have to remember, the HTC Rezound is MUCH better for the buyer that depends on its phone for high quality portable media. For me, the beats part of it won the whole thing for me!
@copycat1919 It depends on what you have running on the phones. When I test them, the phones are pretty much right out of the box with no downloaded apps (except for these bench tests). If you are running apps in the background, that will lower the benchmark results.
Sorry but beats is available on an aux car adapter . You must use the HTC music app NOT google music app . So you are incorrect in that aspect . You don't even need to use the beats headphones either to use the beats eq settings

All I hear about this phone is that its laggy and has an ugly UI. But lately, everyone has been giving this phone praise. Can someone honestly tell me how good this phone is compared to the Rezound.

@youkids123 All I can say is that the Spectrum seems to have almost all its bars most of the time. I don't know if that can be believed, but it looks reassuring.

I just saw the announcement yesterday for the Note hitting AT&T on Feb. 19th....lucky guys! Well, I guess I shouldn't say totally lucky because at least with my Verizon unlimited data plans, they are grandfathered unlike AT&T (and other carriers) who are limiting data plans and charging overages accordingly. So you get what might be the best smartphone (or 'Superphone'?) but on a network that I've not heard a lot of great things about (sorry AT&T fans). I tried them and went back to "V"

I just watched two longer HD videos from YouTube and they looked fine. I noticed no blockiness or pixelation, and the 4G connection let the videos start quickly and play without pauses for buffering. I can't really say why you saw what you saw.

Hi Bob, great schmackdown btw. I am definitely looking down the barrel at the Spectrum, but also at the iPhone 4S. Do you have any thoughts about the performance difference? There doesnt seem to be anything out there that really re-invents the wheel and impresses me completely. I am dedicated to Verizon, and that could be part of the problem, but the service and the network are second to none, even if the phones are. Any thoughts would be great, thanks!
@shwany80 The Spectrum's display is much better than the iPhone's, and the Spectrum has 4G. On the other hand, the Spectrum is a little buggy (which an update might fix) and the battery life on the one I have has been weak-- even with the display turned off. An update might fix that, too. I prefer the Spectrum, and expect that an update will fix the issues. The Spectrum's display is outstanding.
@wirefly Thanks Bob! I went ahead and ordered the Spectrum and it should be here tomorrow. I'm really interested to see how long we will have to wait for the ICS update. I'm sure it wont be very long. It seems like it was an oops to release it without the update since it was designed with the 3 button format like the Nexus. As always, thanks for the great info!
Hardware matching doesnt mean that you get the same quadrant standard results the ui has a huge difference the fact that htc scored ad close as it did with the sense ui drawing 500 mb of ram is impressive. Since ive racked a score of 2100 on an og droid running a liquid rom. Btw ips is a battery dominator have you used a barnes and noble nook recently lol

I notice you said Beats audio doesnt work in auxillary in the car. Yes it does and i use it all the time. As long as you stay to the the stock music player on the phone it doesnt matter if its on car or headphones. The beats audio logo pops up on the screen when plugged into auxillary port

i hope you can find a pocket that is big enough for the spectrum despite its lightness (for only 1oz less). Not a objective comparison between the two. What happen if someone like the rezound's weight and only has small-pocket-apparel?
@lawmauwa I guess if your pocket is too small, you can't carry the Spectrum in that pocket. I carried the Spectrum in my standard shirt pocket for much of this past Sunday and barely noticed it was there. Its big square shape keeps it standing upright and it didn't slip to the bottom of the pocket where it's hard to dig out. Android is about choices -- feel free to choose a smaller phone if that's what works for you.
I dont get why viewing angles are that big of a deal on phones. I never look at my phone from that much of an angle that it makes me wish I had an ips display. :/ I dont know.
@TheAtticusKid With a phone the size of the Spectrum, it's easy to share with one or two more people. A wide viewing angle makes the experience good all around. And when you use the phone for navigation or just glance at it in a car to change a song, it's nice to see clearly from odd angles.

@ZEPHEADLA323 I get the annotation on a couple different computers, so you must have YouTube set to not show annotations. While you're on YouTube, click on "Settings" then click on "Playback setup." The bottom choice is "Annotations," so check the box and hit "Save." That will let you see annotations on the screen, which is the only way I can correct a video once it is posted.

After watching this, I think the spectrum is a better idea. The bionic has seemed to fade from my thoughts after this. I received a very nice pair of Altec Lansing earbuds so I don't think I need the Beats. I like that both are $199 with 2 years and I'm ready for an upgrade. Thanks!

@Alexannnnnnnder What talk is that? I honestly don't know all the details on contracts, so I don't know if what you heard is correct or not. I can say that you sign a contract with a carrier (such as Verizon) and any charges come from the carrier, not Wirefly. Once you get the phone and it works fine, Wirefly's part in the transaction is done.
Beats Audio definitely works with ANY headphones or an AUX. But, It only works on the HTC Music App and Gallery for Videos. It does not work with any other app.
There I a.$100 difference between the two. Not to forget that htc includes a $100 pair of earphones. Beats are beats no matter what phone they are plugged into they work the same. Ive had an lg g2x with beats and now thr rezound. Absolutely no difference.
you gotta run antutu more than once and average it out, you can run it once and say oh the spectrum is faster. in the end they are about the same thing
@mdotsosa sense just has a more complicated contacts app. it takes some work to get everything right with it. its the same with all phones with sense, not just the rezound.
Beats Audio is definitely activated when u plug it into any aux input. It works on mine and u actually have to adjust the bass because it does give it a boost.

@sticko234 No, I don't own an LG Spectrum. However, I brought it home with me (along with a Samsung Epic 4G Touch) to continue using it over the weekend.
I think there's a little bias here because you probably want to promote the new phone. The Rezound is the obvious winner. Unless there's a huge price difference that favors the spectrum.
I haven't had experience with the Spectrum but LG does not have a very good track record and between the GN and the Rezound the GN blow's it out of the water. (I've owned both) The GN blows it out in so many ways, especially battery life.
If you watch close enough at the lg's battery over the course if the video you will see that it drops from about 3/4 to 1/2. It's the same as the lg nitro on att and the battery is going to be horrible on lte. I was lucky if I got 5 hrs on the nitro on fake 4b.c.
@don198769 Actually, the battery started the Schmackdown at 60%. I did an AnTuTu battery test earlier and had it on the charger as long as I could afterward. I had to make the video, so I grabbed the Spectrum when the battery got to 60%.

I'm very interested to see how this compares with the nitro hd seeing that they are basically the same. I have a nexus now and honestly think the LG hd display is better than the nexus screen.

i hope you can find a pocket that is big enough for the spectrum despite its lightness (for only 1oz less). Not a objective comparison between the two. What happen if someone like the rezound's weight and only has small-pocket-apparel?

@lawmauwa I guess if your pocket is too small, you can't carry the Spectrum in that pocket. I carried the Spectrum in my standard shirt pocket for much of this past Sunday and barely noticed it was there. Its big square shape keeps it standing upright and it didn't slip to the bottom of the pocket where it's hard to dig out. Android is about choices -- feel free to choose a smaller phone if that's what works for you.

I dont get why viewing angles are that big of a deal on phones. I never look at my phone from that much of an angle that it makes me wish I had an ips display. :/ I dont know.

@TheAtticusKid With a phone the size of the Spectrum, it's easy to share with one or two more people. A wide viewing angle makes the experience good all around. And when you use the phone for navigation or just glance at it in a car to change a song, it's nice to see clearly from odd angles.

@ZEPHEADLA323 I get the annotation on a couple different computers, so you must have YouTube set to not show annotations. While you're on YouTube, click on "Settings" then click on "Playback setup." The bottom choice is "Annotations," so check the box and hit "Save." That will let you see annotations on the screen, which is the only way I can correct a video once it is posted.

@ZEPHEADLA323 Did you not see the annotation I put on the screen to say that I misspoke at that point? Do you have your annotations turned off? (YouTube has a setting that lets you do that.) The Rezound wins for the front camera, but it's a fairly minor point overall.

I can see the annotation when I play the video back on a computer, but didn't just now on a cell phone. Sorry about the confusion... the fact is that the Rezound wins for front-camera resolution.

After watching this, I think the spectrum is a better idea. The bionic has seemed to fade from my thoughts after this. I received a very nice pair of Altec Lansing earbuds so I don't think I need the Beats. I like that both are $199 with 2 years and I'm ready for an upgrade. Thanks!

@Alexannnnnnnder What talk is that? I honestly don't know all the details on contracts, so I don't know if what you heard is correct or not. I can say that you sign a contract with a carrier (such as Verizon) and any charges come from the carrier, not Wirefly. Once you get the phone and it works fine, Wirefly's part in the transaction is done.

Beats Audio definitely works with ANY headphones or an AUX. But, It only works on the HTC Music App and Gallery for Videos. It does not work with any other app.

There I a.$100 difference between the two. Not to forget that htc includes a $100 pair of earphones. Beats are beats no matter what phone they are plugged into they work the same. Ive had an lg g2x with beats and now thr rezound. Absolutely no difference.

Beats Audio is definitely activated when u plug it into any aux input. It works on mine and u actually have to adjust the bass because it does give it a boost.

I haven't had experience with the Spectrum but LG does not have a very good track record and between the GN and the Rezound the GN blow's it out of the water. (I've owned both) The GN blows it out in so many ways, especially battery life.

If you watch close enough at the lg's battery over the course if the video you will see that it drops from about 3/4 to 1/2. It's the same as the lg nitro on att and the battery is going to be horrible on lte. I was lucky if I got 5 hrs on the nitro on fake 4b.c.

@don198769 Actually, the battery started the Schmackdown at 60%. I did an AnTuTu battery test earlier and had it on the charger as long as I could afterward. I had to make the video, so I grabbed the Spectrum when the battery got to 60%.
