@SpyceySalad Well, what can you expect? The pack of gum was five cents then. I'm sure they could have spent more, but there was an entire advertising campaign using this cartoon character on bus billboards and magazines as well.
Whenever I see Wrigley's Spearmint Gum, I think about my Grandma, she always had this gum in her purse. She would give my sister and I a piece. She passed away when I was eight-years old. I haven't been able to chew it since. It makes me sad to think about her.
Yes! I remember those "Wrigley's Zoo"TV plug for "Wrigley's"gum with those animated animals. I'm surprised that no one here ah You Tube has found those commercials and added them to the site?
Does anyone remember the Wrigley Zoo? There was a little jingle about each animal and why they loved to chew Wrigley's.(The only one I remember is Buster Bear.: "Let's talk to Buster Bear today/Let's hear what Buster has to say." The ad ended with, "It's always fun at the Wrigley Zoo, and Wrigley Spearmint is fun to chew/Younger folk, and old ones too/Enjoy it while it's helping you!" There was some sort of claim that gum full of sugar was good for your health.
How funny! I worked in an animation gallery and we had a couple of cels from this commercial, and I could never figure out exactly what they were. We presumed they were publicity art or something from a pitch, but had no idea they were used in the actual commercial as a series of static images.
The American Dental Association opted for their ads being this way too: just a dozen-and-a-half still drawings.....and this, throughout the 70s!
I recall a "swimming safety" ad from about '65, where a duck & a dolphin "danced" by simply having the separate cell of their bottom half being moved by the cameraperson.

Wow! I haven't seen the "gum girl" (as I called her) since I was a kid! (I believe I had a crush on her then.) I also remember a series with various wilderness animals (a beaver, a squirrel, etc.) commenting on how much they loved chewing Wrigley's while working.
used to love this commercial back in the day!

@SpyceySalad It was an OLD commercial. You can't expect it to be HD.
This is why I hate this generation. Everything has to be BETTER and BETTER.
And it's not like it was common to have cameras back then. They were expensive, believe it or not.

Clap hands, one, two, Let’s take a trip to the Wrigley zoo,
Chitter chatter, yakety yak. When you talk to the animals they talk back.
We’ll talk to Melvin Monkey today, let’s hear what Melvin has to say:
“My mummy says I should realize That monkeys all need exercise,
But teeth need exercising too And my mum makes it fun to do,
For when I swing she gives me some Delicious WRIGLEY’s SPEARMINT GUM
