I don't think any marijuana smoker claims that weed is totally harmless; we just think that the laws enacted to prohibit marijuana are causing more societal harm than marijuana itself.

It's like the people who savagely defend alcohol/who are in denial about their use and/or abuse of it, only know about - or admit to - liver damage. What about the heart? What about the brain? In the short term, yes, your liver keeps you from dieing from it (ie, that day/night you're drinking it), but in the long term it's bad for all sorts of other organs.

Furthermore, there are natural receptor sites in the brain for THC. When you smoke or eat pot, there's only so much you're body will absorb, exactly like Vitamin C. Worse case scenario you'll nod off. I live in Canada, and while it's not legal, being caught with smaller amounts of it is pretty much a non-issue. I truly feel bad for my friends south of the border, having to constantly deal with the UTTERLY INSANE threat of being caught with such a harmless herb.
He is one of the greats, yeah. Doug Stanhope and David Cross might be the final "political" stand ups we have in the same genre as Bill Hicks and George Carlin. At least thats how I feel.
