I cant even Imagine what we have in store. this plane had to be in production at least 2 decades before we Americans even knew it existed. What does that tell us, that we are at least 20 years ahead. Cant wait to see the next super Fighters of the future.

I read and watch some worrying comments on this plane. It is said it is so thinly armored that it cannot fly low. It cannot stand small arms fire. Two, the stealth coating is making the plane vulnerable to rusting. Three, the airframe is prone to suffer from cracks on certain part of the airframe. Is this all true? F-22 looks good, would be a shame if it didn't live to expectations. Production has ceased. Merely budget or is there prevailing issues with the current ones?

@bingofioul The corrosion issues had to do with the gapfillers and water leaking into the aluminium panels. I think those problems have already been fixed.

The only thing the Eurofighter shot down in Libya were cheap MiGs and Sukhois from the 60's. Those were easy pickings for them. Put them up against a 5th Generation fighter and they're toast.

@alizgraphikz not sure since i don't think its finished yet. The large intakes on the T-50 don't conceal the fan blades which is supposed to be a big give away to radar and no pics yet of the internal weapon bay. They also haven't finished the engine that is supposed to be able to super cruise. I believe it will be the best "multi-role" fighter in the world but i still think the f-22 is the best air supremacy fighter in the world if they can get it back in the air and keep it there.

ervin920..... See the point by ThcDinobot. Also, the Russian Sukhoi T-50 PAK-FA has 3D thrust vectoring and is much more manueverable than the F22. It also has a higher range and better radar. The F22 is a fantastic bit of technology. It's one of my favourite planes ever. But even the older Russian Sukhoi 35S have superior radar, handling and combat ability. In a recent excercise, they defeated the F22 in all categories. I still love the Raptor though. It's one of the best jets in the world.
@kanben7 Su-35S doesn't turn tighter than a Raptor with those draggy missiles under its wings. The Raptor is all about sustained turn rates. I like how people understate the F-22's maneuverability, as far as I heard it can outmaneuver an F-16 Fighting Falcon without the use of its thrust vectors. Did you also know that the F-22's nozzles can be deflected 20 degrees vertically while the Su-35S/37 can only deflect its nozzles vertically by only 15 degrees?

They simply feel, that YES the F-22 is an amazing air craft one of the best the world has ever seen. But really, the aircraft of there choice after all the experience they have had. Is a Typhoon. They'd even choose a Rafale any day over the F22. No doubt the F22 is top stuff, but its unpopular and pilots feel they are very limited in one.

@alizgraphikz not sure since i don't think its finished yet. The large intakes on the T-50 don't conceal the fan blades which is supposed to be a big give away to radar and no pics yet of the internal weapon bay. They also haven't finished the engine that is supposed to be able to super cruise. I believe it will be the best "multi-role" fighter in the world but i still think the f-22 is the best air supremacy fighter in the world if they can get it back in the air and keep it there.

ervin920..... See the point by ThcDinobot. Also, the Russian Sukhoi T-50 PAK-FA has 3D thrust vectoring and is much more manueverable than the F22. It also has a higher range and better radar. The F22 is a fantastic bit of technology. It's one of my favourite planes ever. But even the older Russian Sukhoi 35S have superior radar, handling and combat ability. In a recent excercise, they defeated the F22 in all categories. I still love the Raptor though. It's one of the best jets in the world.

@kanben7 Su-35S doesn't turn tighter than a Raptor with those draggy missiles under its wings. The Raptor is all about sustained turn rates. I like how people understate the F-22's maneuverability, as far as I heard it can outmaneuver an F-16 Fighting Falcon without the use of its thrust vectors. Did you also know that the F-22's nozzles can be deflected 20 degrees vertically while the Su-35S/37 can only deflect its nozzles vertically by only 15 degrees?

NVA had more aces than US did in that war. @packr72 f-22 only have 4 aim120 missiles that cant travel far relative to other modern missiles, so the f-22 would need to get very close, sry. plus as soon as it turns on its radar to fire its missiles, it would immediately give away its position. again sry to disappoint. for a modern weapon, the f-22 is very much a old fighter with inferior computers on board. its like how someone once said "its to advanced for its time". but i love the look of it. its like a desert eagle, sexy, but useless.

@ervin920 usless, really well you should know that the f22 carries aim120ds that have a range excedding 45 miles and the other pilot will have a fraction of a second to lock on to the f22 while it weapons bay opens, it's computers are not inferior, thats one thing that makes the us armed forces so deadly is its computers. lastly the amrams are the most sucessful air to air missiles to date, they are used by countless countries and we are developing ramjet missiles like the meteor.

@ervin920 the f22s computers are advanced, tghe software is old, but thats by design and its radar is so advanced that a single f22 can act as a mini awacs, and 45 miles may be unstating the range cause the aim120c has a range of 65 miles and the 120d is said to be almost 50% increase in range, and dont forget about the f22s engine that allow the plane to reach speeds exceeding mach 3 and without afterburners and its advanced thrust vectoring which makes it a very hard target to hit

It is a good aircraft indeed, however with all the faults that have been discoverd combined with a ridiculous price tag for a plane that has yet to be deployed in combat elsewhere, I don't see the justification for having it in service when there are aircraft such as the Rafale and Typhoon which are less expensive, more capable, and are actually seeing combat service at this moment
