Not to be a wet blanket, but this episode broke a ton of the program's format/protocols. Did anyone besides me notice that Monk not only had no issue with touching the kid, regardless of bogeys and tears and slobber, but also made no bones about the state of his house and the things the child did to mess it up? It felt like the show bent his character to force the kid into the plot and make a mushy episode. Heartwarming yes, but fit Monk's profile? No.

@dudeinco That's the point of the Episode. That's what happened to him with Trudy. He was able to forget all his phobias when she was around. That's how he is like when he's with someone he truly loves. Which means that he just loves Tommy very much :)

@dudeinco That's whats been going on since the first episode, technically, he developed more and got beyond fear in the first episode. He couldn't climb a building, but by the end he could go in the sewers, but in the rest of the series he is much worse, and it's used just for jokes, this was one of the few that I though actually made sense and were real, and not just jokes.

It was a Judge. I don't want to say too much, but this last episode of Monk was thrilling. Tony Shaloub really saved his best performance for last. I have seen all the monk episodes and I can tell you everyone of them were terrific. There was not one bad episode. If you can get season 8 with the final episode part one and two, you will see what I mean. I didn't want to tell you too much in case you get a chance to watch it. It is a must see!!!! I hope this answered your question.

I'm not a kelly clarkson fan at all, I am the least likely Kelly fan probably. pictured something like 'You've Got a Friend in Me' by Randy Newman (who also happened to have composed the show's theme song) not a pop-y ballad. I saw it too for the first time! I nearly cried at the Monk/Tommy scenes. It sucks that many people wouldn't think he'd be able to take care of a kid; he couldn't take care of himself.
