Me and 3 friends decided to try out the multiplayer for the demo for a little bit before we all went our seperate ways.... we ended up play it for a good 8-10 hours straight. Best time ever and it was exciting throughout the whole time. We loved it and convinced 2 people to pre-order and buy the game. It was amazing.

Dudes... that is impossible. Either you get the best singleplayer and multiplayer is a nice add-on for those who want to go futher down the rabbit hole.... or it is essential in order to unlock the best ending.

It doesn't matter where you start actually. Each Mass Effect is it's own story. Mass Effect 2 recapped ME1 through most of the storyline so you can get the gist of what ME1 was about and what Shepard did. I'm pretty sure ME3 will recap the first and the second.

While I don't care about any of these franchises (Since they're complete sell-outs), THOSE games you can jump into, since Halo: Reach is a prequel, no one gives a shit about CoD's story, and Gears' story in all 3 games is inconsistent as hell anyways, so who gives a fuck? Mass Effect is an RPG Trilogy, meaning it's a complete CINEMATIC BASED STORY, skipping to the end is just fucked up

I hope they didn't aim for pure gameplay. I played ME2 first, then 1, and when I played 2 for the first time, I was amazed at the atmosphere the game has. Running around and doing sidequests on the beautiful omega. I also got a new xbox, (use the same hardrive) and I havent transferred my DLC to the new xbox, i wonder if when I transfer my save file to ME3, it will count all the dlc I did like shadow broker lair and what not.
@TkaXYZ I know that you wouldn't of course NEED the dlc in order to play ME3, that'd be loco. I'm saying i bought all the ME2 dlc, and the dlc that I beat is on the save file, however I got a new xbox so all dlc that i bought isn't on the new xbox. I'm wondering if when I transfer my safe file, it will incorporate what choices I made in the DLC, despite no longer having the dlc on my xbox.
For me Mass Effect have always been a personal experience. Getting deeply involved in the story and characters. So no, i wont be playing the multilayer-part. It would ruin all i have achieved and done on a personal level since Mass Effect 1.
Stupid Bioware, don't they know that multiplayer ruins everything? Like in the Uncharted series, Portal 2, Gears of War, etc. Whoops, those are all primarily single-player games that turned out to have decent, optional, "tacked on" MP. (In the case of Gears of War, it turned out to be unexpectedly popular.) The only time MP detracts from a game is when it's done badly. So have faith in Bioware's ability to make a decent multiplayer experience, and, if you just don't like MP, then don't do it.
@art2000cc Well I certainly hope they make a party creation system like Dead Island had, because my friends aren't going to get this game and if there's no system like that and since my friends aren't going to play, I won't even be able to acess the whole experience of the game.

You know I think even though this Trilogy is ending they should make another story during the Rachni Wars or the First Contact War that would be a good idea.
i hope that you can make the complete playthough without the multiplayer. i mean if the multiplayer have impact over the single player will there be something you CANT do only playing single or you should play multiplayer to get it (from story perspective)
and think about this. they do multiplayer just because ME3 is the last game, that way they will make sure the game is played for longer. if the multiplayer is good it will be played for years, and from people who run only one single playthough

And you're right about BioWare not depending on this game. In addition to the great games you mentioned, they're also releasing The Old Republic this month.
I encourage Bioware to do multiplayer if they want. Assassin's Creed Series added multiplayer on it's 3rd game, and the singleplayer was still awesome, and now it also has awesome multiplayer. So wait until it comes out until you judge :P
It's going to be interesting, whatever they do with it. I want to check out some gameplay for the multiplayer though before I ultimately make my decision on whether or not I'd play it. Still getting the game regardless.

@GhostCamaroX75 Bioware has 4 months to perfect it because of them delaying their game to avoid competing with Battlefield 3. I suspect the single-player is at the "patching-phase,"a.k.a breaking the game and then fixing it over and over. It would have been out by now, but now that they have 4 more months to work on the game. ME3 has all of the signs of a great game in my book.
@Afryte actually EA fucked up DA. Bioware did the best with what time they were forced to work with when EA strong armed Bioware into developing and releasing DA2 within 1 year. Not saying Bioware is completely blameless, they made the choice to focus on certain things, so blame ratio is 75% EA- 25% Bioware. DA2 was still good when it should have been great but, it's not the worst RPG ever made. Crimson Sea or Vandal Hearts 2 possibly. Maybe DA3 will be better if EA doesn't interfere again.
@1vandread I totally agree, but I doubt EA will change their tactics. They just want the game out quick so they can make the big bucks. It will take a lot to screw up ME3, though, since the series' high points are the amazing story, characters and universe.
@Afryte Mind if I jump in here? Originally, Bioware told us that it would be out by "Holliday 2011." However, Battlefield 3 did the same thing. So, Bioware agreed to delay until early March 2012. So now, Bioware has evaded EA's strong-arm. ME3 has the signs of a great game, and Multiplayer, being at first a VERY controversial topic for Bioware, seems like something Bioware wanted to do, but now has the time to perfect. Happiness all around here.

I can't stand how they keep pushing this 'great place to start' bullshit. How is the last chapter in a trilogy a great place to start? You pretty much miss out on everything important that lead up to this point. It's really just baseless PR to try and get as many sales as possible.

These are some of the best games ever made, obviously the devs don't want to scare potential players away with ideas that they need a PhD in Mass Effect thus far. With all the well-deserved hype surrounding the choice carry-through in ME, do you blame them for wanting to counter any negative consequences? It doesn't matter where you start actually. Each Mass Effect is it's own story. Mass Effect 2 recapped ME1 through most of the storyline so you can get the gist of what ME1 was about and what Shepard did. I'm pretty sure ME3 will recap the first and the second.

While I don't care about any of these franchises (Since they're complete sell-outs), THOSE games you can jump into, since Halo: Reach is a prequel, no one gives a shit about CoD's story, and Gears' story in all 3 games is inconsistent as hell anyways, so who gives a fuck? Mass Effect is an RPG Trilogy, meaning it's a complete CINEMATIC BASED STORY, skipping to the end is just fucked up

I dont care about multiplayer, i just hope singleplayer will be as awesome like last two "episodes".. I still liked ME1 more, because different armor / weapon customizations.. But then again ME2 is quite even with ME1 IMO.. I just hope this will be great :)..

I hope they didn't aim for pure gameplay. I played ME2 first, then 1, and when I played 2 for the first time, I was amazed at the atmosphere the game has. Running around and doing sidequests on the beautiful omega. I also got a new xbox, (use the same hardrive) and I havent transferred my DLC to the new xbox, i wonder if when I transfer my save file to ME3, it will count all the dlc I did like shadow broker lair and what not.

I'm saying i bought all the ME2 dlc, and the dlc that I beat is on the save file, however I got a new xbox so all dlc that i bought isn't on the new xbox. I'm wondering if when I transfer my safe file, it will incorporate what choices I made in the DLC, despite no longer having the dlc on my xbox.

Stupid Bioware, don't they know that multiplayer ruins everything? Like in the Uncharted series, Portal 2, Gears of War, etc. Whoops, those are all primarily single-player games that turned out to have decent, optional, "tacked on" MP. (In the case of Gears of War, it turned out to be unexpectedly popular.) The only time MP detracts from a game is when it's done badly. So have faith in Bioware's ability to make a decent multiplayer experience, and, if you just don't like MP, then don't do it.

can't wait for this... gonna play MP too if I can make the campaign have more assets... any help I can get from fellow players to defend the galaxy from the reapers are welcome... and if I don't, Bioware promised that I can still have the same effect... for sure, the MP is more like a help to make the SP easier...... still by choice anyways so it's cool... better lighten-up people... don't let it ruin the experience before you even try the game for at least one play-thru...

i hope that you can make the complete playthough without the multiplayer. i mean if the multiplayer have impact over the single player will there be something you CANT do only playing single or you should play multiplayer to get it (from story perspective)
and think about this. they do multiplayer just because ME3 is the last game, that way they will make sure the game is played for longer. if the multiplayer is good it will be played for years, and from people who run only one single playthough

@GhostCamaroX75 Bioware has 4 months to perfect it because of them delaying their game to avoid competing with Battlefield 3. I suspect the single-player is at the "patching-phase,"a.k.a breaking the game and then fixing it over and over. It would have been out by now, but now that they have 4 more months to work on the game. ME3 has all of the signs of a great game in my book.

@Afryte actually EA fucked up DA. Bioware did the best with what time they were forced to work with when EA strong armed Bioware into developing and releasing DA2 within 1 year. Not saying Bioware is completely blameless, they made the choice to focus on certain things, so blame ratio is 75% EA- 25% Bioware. DA2 was still good when it should have been great but, it's not the worst RPG ever made. Crimson Sea or Vandal Hearts 2 possibly. Maybe DA3 will be better if EA doesn't interfere again.

@1vandread I totally agree, but I doubt EA will change their tactics. They just want the game out quick so they can make the big bucks. It will take a lot to screw up ME3, though, since the series' high points are the amazing story, characters and universe.

@Afryte Mind if I jump in here? Originally, Bioware told us that it would be out by "Holliday 2011." However, Battlefield 3 did the same thing. So, Bioware agreed to delay until early March 2012. So now, Bioware has evaded EA's strong-arm. ME3 has the signs of a great game, and Multiplayer, being at first a VERY controversial topic for Bioware, seems like something Bioware wanted to do, but now has the time to perfect. Happiness all around here.
