  • a big THANK YOU for you!!

  • Thank you for this. I'm trying to steer clear of Photoshop these days for anything other than graphic design just to stay more authentic (as odd as it sounds). Aperture seems like the perfect fit for me in terms of basic level adjustments, after watching this video. You also sold me by telling me there is a Toy Camera option in the auto features ;)

  • aperture 3 at only $79.99 on the Mac App Store

    bit(DOT)ly/aperture-us

  • do your prefer aperture over lightroom???

  • you cannot compare this with ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS SERIES otherwise APERTURE 3 is much similar to ADOBE LIGHTROOM...

  • uum, ummm, uuumm ,um ,uuuummmm.. jeasus dude :)

  • Hey,

Good Video. Would you say Photoshop CS4 or CS5 is way better than Aperture 3. Or are they close.

Let me know your preference because I'm new to photo editing programs and want to get your opinion on these programs.

    thanks

  • @ejcross1 BUY IT FROM THE APP STORE ! It costs like $199 when you buy it in a box but if you download it directly from the app store it's only from 60 to 70 dollars or euro depending on the region ;)

  • Does it work with green screening pictures?

  • the quick-brush-pinsel don't work on my aperture 3. do you know why???

    thank you

  • You cannot re-size an image in Aperture 3. Therefore you cannot properly edit using this program. It is a waste of money. Use Photoshop CS3 or better.

  • Very informative. I was just considering moving up from iPhoto to Aperture and wanted to see what the format was like. Thanks!

  • hey is there any way to do layers like photoshop

so you can erase the image and the 2nd layer pops in?

like so you can do 3 of the same person in 1 image?

  • you've done this with iMovie

  • is there any way (like on photo shop) that I can TAKE OUT an item from a photo?

as hard as a car in the background or a bracelet on my subject

  • is there any way (like on photo shop) that I can TAKE OUT an item from a photo?

  • Do you think a standard 13" 2.4 GHz Macbook Pro can handle Aperture with ease?

  • @mikeyDaFonz i have a 13" also and it works just fine

  • What's the song at the beginning?

  • does this work with pc's?

  • how do you extract a human figure [for example] from a photo and make the human figure a separate photo. and change the size of the human figure

  • Thanks for the great video! I always like seeing reviews from new users, since I'm thinking about getting a mac. This gives me a better impression of how I will see this when I get it.

  • @seb389 hi, i'm an amateur photographer from milwaukee, wat software do u use? cuz i've been using aperture for 3 weeks and its not bad at all, just out of curiosity, thanks

  • Comment removed

  • @seb389 i totally agree with you from the packaging point of view, there is nothing super fancy superior about aperture 3, but i kinda like the organization and uploading tools it got, so wat r u using now if u dont mind me asking? lightroom? photoshop?

  • @seb389

ya well im a "professional" photographer who has a spread in National geographic and Life Magazine and the only thing I can say is "ur mom sucks..!"

  • Comment removed

  • @seb389 no, u.

  • Lol i think u have OCD.... Do you?!?!

  • @comrade86 Me? Not even close...:)

  • @stevehuff1969 wow, its incredible how you find some immature people out here.

  • @YellowTTGallardo

    stfu stupidhead!

  • Hey, can you tell me, where can i turn on exif data below the picture?

    Thanks for great video!

  • Using an Imac 27" Quad Core and the image here was shot with a Leica M9. Thx.

  • @stevehuff1969

    Now I'm jealous! :D

  • can you post your computer spec? and camera used to take the pics

  • When I import my photos aperture automatically edits them (slightly). I want full control over my photos. Is there a way to turn off the default edit after importing to aperture.

Note: I'm not talking about presets. Import a photo to aperture and click an image, wait for it to load and after a while aperture will edit the photo automatically.

The reason I ask is because it's smearing some of the colors in my images. Especially ones with a bright subject. Like a stain glass window.

    Help?

  • If their wasnt so many memory leaks it would be amazing!

  • I payed for it

  • @Timothy656

Photoshop is a completely destructive program. Aperture writes all these changes to metadata. You can always go back in and change something, whereas in photoshop, once you close, you made the changes permanent.

The less destructive editing, the better.

  • @heathmcconnell what kind of poison are you spewing? there are impressionable people out there and making statements such as "Photoshop is a completely destructive program." are liable to become someone's determining factor in their creative investment. There are, once more, completely different aplications. Aperture and lightroom are for steadfast batching and cataloguing, while photoshop is is for fine tuning. and as far as destructive goes, its called "save as" you asshat. c( ;

  • @detroitartistdotorg .......

In contrast, and the point I was making, is that I try to do ALL the editing I can in LR2 (past) or Aperture 3(present) so that I can go back at any point in time and remove any single adjustments I choose. The changes are made to the metadata not the image itself.

That being said, using LR or A, I can externally edit (meaning Photoshop) a "VERSION" of the image, and that is what I do.

Sorry I was so confusing before... and calling names is not very professional.

  • looks like a suped up Picasa

  • aperture + photoshop= :)

  • i got it :3

  • wow! i want it!

  • I have Aperture 2, and I love the new features of A3, thank you for posting.

  • CAn u do cloning with this?

  • Yes you can but in my mind Photoshop does it much better!

  • @Timothy656 ...I meant by cloning like having two or more people or things in one image. Like two images of the same person where one is sitting on the couch watching tv and the other image the same person is on the couch and they are eating. Can you clone it so that both are in the same image.

  • @stacynewyork Yes you can!

  • apeture vs photoshop??

  • aperture is much better than photoshop....

  • APERTUREEEEEE!!

Actually you can't compare these 2 applications, Aperture is for managing photos and Photoshop is for editing photos (although Aperture can do a lot of editing too).

  • @Miti96 Indeed, but just to be clear..

Aperture isn't just for managing photos, Aperture's photo editing properties are arguably more powerful than PS's.

Also PS isn't just for editing photos, despite the name, it's an art package.

As you said, they are two totally different programs, if you want something that can help you produce better quality photography, get Aperture.

If you want something that can design graphics for web & print, get PS.

If you want both those things, get both.

  • @ImaginedNation @imaginedNation. your comment is arguably retarded. I'm not even going to waste my time elaborating on why your statements are negligible. anyone who cares for a detailed explanation feel free to message me.

  • @detroitartistdotorg Lol, fail. You first reply by saying my comment is so retarded you're not even going to waste your time commenting why. Then you comment anyway - fucking ey! Made me chuckle anyway.

By the way, I'm not biased, I have both Aperture and PS4. You're the one who is sounding biased and also bizarrely aggressive about a comment on photo editing software. But if you want to make yourself look like a fool then be my guest.

  • @ImaginedNation to be clear? you must preface with "for the laymen". "if you want something that can help you produce better quality photography, get Aperture." is a misguided statement. furthermore "arguably more powerful than PS's." is way off friend. you could say "aperture is for the elderly/inexperienced" or maybe "i have a hard time using photoshop". you cannot make such a biased statement. aperture is a lot faster for a large catalogue considering it's api. photoshop is far more capable.

  • it seems very similar to lightroom

  • I hate it when preview images fade in. If you have the preview ready show it to me right away. Don't make me wait half a second.

  • @mrdarkbit press the preview button. Then it doesn't load. Or just press P to set it to preview.
