  • I love this song!

  • Beautiful song....love it....thank you

  • What a perv

  • When i hear this older version i imagine a porn set in the 80s .. set in a tropical beer garden by the sea shore under palm trees and midori cocktails served by pretty waitresses. I imagine the balmy tropical breeze rustle through the palm trees as people cheer on the porn stars having sex on stage while Benny Mardones walks out with a white tuxedo and sings this song for all the lonely hearts who have been dumped by their partners helping them realize that "love" is not as "easy" as it seems.

  • This was released in 1980 on vinyl that I remember.

  • This is the version that made this song famous! The later version is close but you can hear differences if you listen. I think he did the later version for contract problems ($) because there's no other reason.

  • wow this is when singers could sing, the good old days, and when the most beautifull woman lynn holly johnson was on top, wish i could live in the late seventies forever, i was only seven then, before the evil assault of the world got to me.

  • This man can sing his ass off damn!!

  • This is indeed the 1989 version.

  • she's just 16 years old, leave her alone they say...seperated by fools who don't know what love is yet. sorry- but those fools are the her parents and the police. i see an order of protection in this guys future real quick, if not a lengthy jail sentence to boot.

  • This is the re-make that hit #1 a second time, not the original.

  • @metalzep786 You're right. This is the re-recorded version from 1989, after the song charted for the second time after almost a decade. The original was recorded in-studio, and did not have the "echo-y dance hall" style (which gained alot of popularity in the mid-late 80s) that this version has.

  • yo douche get your versions right

  • This song has nothing to do with being a predator! If it did it would have never made the airwaves. And yes us older folk have heard songs about pedophiles before in others music...get the story straight and you will see what it is really about! Pedophile are everywhere in your family, next door, behind you, I'm mean give it up. It was an always will be a very soulful singer, and No one can sing this song like him!

  • This is the best version of this incredible song. Fantastic!

  • All time favorite!

  • This just simply has got 2B 1 of the prettiest songs from men of our pop age.

  • hard to believe this dude never had another hit, great voice!!

  • Just love this song.

  • I'm just going to step into and and let it squish between my toes: this song is one of the best ever.

  • VampireKristie41 God bless you always. You're not alone.

  • Reissue by Benny hit #20 in Billboard, 7-1-89. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • @VampireKristi...Not stupid at all.....I felt the same way.....

  • see thats what its about not the pedophileshit it entails to the untrained eye... i know it sounds wierd but its from the artist standfpoint not the freak point of view...

  • WENA WENA WENA......... GOOD SONG

  • i was 14 when i met a 24 year old man that i knew i was going to spend the rest of my life with! IM 54 and he passed away at 62 we spent the rest of our life together and this was our song!

  • @dirtyep3619 thats the point!1! and you grew old togeher and loved each other!11 brava!!!

  • Luv this song. He sings it with so much soul!

  • raw, raspy, and soulful, timeless and absolutely heart string pulling, when a song is good I get a shiver up my spine and my lower lip starts to tingle...this song does that.

  • (IN A WHITE MAN'S VOICE) this fuckin song "ROCKS HARD" very fuckin hard...and I'm a "NIGGA" LOL

  • This isn't the older version. This is the 1989 remake. I can tell right from the opening drum. I love both versions, but the 1980 version is better.

  • @BillG37 Agreed. This sounds a bit funky, but still nice.

  • awesome sound . love the song . i was in spain in '81 thru '84 and was going out with a fifteen year old . she turned sixteen the last summer we were together . i was twenty turning twenty one . we were so in love but i never stole her innocence

  • 4 ppl dont kno good music...smh..

  • this is about being in love not about how old anyone is

  • this

  • OMG this gives me chills!!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG.........

  • There is an older version but I find that most of the time you can't get them because of limited releases. Believe it or not they play the older one at the Giant I shop in. LOL

  • Summer of 1980............

  • I opened the show for Benny one summer in Oswego ny.He signed an early album for a friend named Steve. I said"will you sign it to Steve? He said, that's a really old record Steve.I didn't correct him or tell him I was the opening act. His roadie Conan had also roadied for my band before I had joined on bass. You sounded great Benny.Hope you are still performing.I play tonight in Fargo ny at Two Charlie's bar. Take care. Tom Mitchell also (youtube rightfuzzball)..don't ask..

  • @sharksandwichreview HMMMM I FIND YOUR COMMENT VERY INTERESTING mR mITCHELL. WHAT'S THE NAME OF THE GROUP YOU PLAY FOR NOW? DO YOU HAVE ANY VIDEO'S TO WATCH? AND DO YOU TOUR OR PLAY THE EAST COAST?

  • @shell19491 I don't tour anymore shell. Not that I don't want to ever again.I was a hired gun and still am.I could never figure out how to get my own band off the ground and keep things together at home..I just write songs now but never perform them.I play bass and sing in local dance bands.Been doing it for years, too many years.peace

  • i remember i remember

  • It's like yesterday never left. Memories are

are all we have to HOLD on to.. Thank You for the Memories.

  • This is a much clearer and louder version - great!! Thanks for posting!! Great classic!

  • I truly adore how he puts his very heart and soul into his music..every time I hear this song it feels like my heart is trying to sing along with it..he is truly blessed to have such a wonderful talent.

  • Usher pretty much " re-imaged" the song as a tribute. Do your research before you talk. And yes I do think no one could top Benny's version because it simply a classic.

  • @26Kend I gotta say,as an Afro American I enjoy "ALL" music. In my opinion Usher really did this song no justice. This song falls in the category of a classic and should be left that way, unaltered! No disrespect to your opinion.

  • This is the version I remember and nobody does it better than Benny not even close.

Usher couldn't make a song like this so he had to copy it.

  • anything benny is good...dudes gotta a golden voice!

  • This isn't the "Never Run Never Hide" original...This is the 1989 "Benny Mardones" LP re-record.

  • @Blackychan229 1979

  • @atom12v No...Never Run Never Hide (first version of Into the Night) is from 1979. The Benny Mardones LP (second version of Into the Night) is from 1989. Although this video has the "Never Run Never Hide" cover, this is not the version from that album.

  • Who the fuck is this usher? Good for Benny getting royalties, anyway.

  • Usher remade this song.

  • @26Kend Usher's version could never hold a candle to the original Benny Mardones version.

  • For all of you saying he was 16, 17, or 19... he was 34, read his bio. Regardless, it's a great song and if this is how he expressed himself to the girl, that is not such a bad thing.

  • Well I am not into dating young girls but this song will be great for a man who loves a mature woman.

  • negitive forces seem to lack respect, lol.

  • just an awesome freakin song,still soday..'rick.

  • Benny Hill's dirty little secret?

  • I bet you he was 19

  • I'm 16 everyone told Chris to leave me alone because he's 21 this song isn't about a predetor it is incredibly sweet this guy was inlove with a sweet young girl and nobody would let him be with her they judged him saying she was too young but he couldn't help loving her and it's not molestation I'm 16 years old and if someone wrote this for me I would be incredibly flattered

  • wow. he sings that like he means it..awesome..

  • Tony Bruno whaaad up

  • I've always LOVED this song....both version are awesome!!! Gives me goosebumps!!!!

  • benny mardones es chileno!!

  • Awesome sound!

  • wtf how come every page this songs on make the pedo's come out the woodworks ppl on here admiting having sex with 16 yr olds and shit what the hell the catch a predetor dude should of just played this song and everyone would of just gave up.

  • Here we go! The one they sell on iTunes is off. Thank you.

  • Look up Usher - Making Love (into the night). Its a newer RNB spin of this song. I knew I heard it before somewhere.

  • i love this song

  • THIS SONG SOUNDS GOOD WITH THE 4X15" KICKERS IN THE TRUNK

  • @qwertyui403 Although I never would have thought to bump Benny like that, I see your point, great bass! Cheers!

  • Benny Mardones is singing about crickets

  • Ephebophilia, proudly proclaimed. just watch out for chris hansen

  • Love this song! Thank you for posting this version, I listened to the version with the most views, but it didn't sound quite right. This one is the version they play on the radio here, thanks!

  • May sound stupid to some of you, but there was a time when I would turn this one up loud, just to drown out my tears. Waiting for someone to pick me up and take me away from the hell that I was being raised in.

  • @VampireKristi41 Doesn't sound stupid to me at all

  • @VampireKristi41 Although I'm a guy & our situations may be different, I've been feeling that way for 17 years. It really is hard when you feel like NO ONE (particularly the opposite gender but family also) understands you & on top of that they DON'T bother to try & get to know you to do so. BUT the kicker is that since you're deemed/considered/dubbed a Nice Guy & all you can be depended upon for any & all matters just NOT those associated with the heart, love, & romance... :-l

  • @VampireKristi41

hon, never feel stupid, as i am with you!! i was raised in hell also and i just thank the Good Lord that He let me survive it.....this song is beautiful and reminds me of the love of my life in high school.....i was only 16 and i thought i would die when we HAD to break up.....he wasn't good for me :(

i still cry when i hear this song and i play it over and over again...mind you i'm 58 years old now!!

  • @VampireKristi41 It doesn't sound stupid. But it doesn't sound true.

  • @VampireKristi41 Not stupid, sweetie...Music is a solace to many. Peace and blessings to you. You survived and I hope life has taken a better turn for you.

  • @VampireKristi41 What a wonderful comment, and really self-revealing. Your feelings are not stupid at all. I was married to a woman who, like you, had a dreadful life, especially through her teenage years, and who adored this song. The song offered the hope of someone's exquisite passion for her whole being (not just her sexuality), compared to the utter humiliation her father inflicted on her (including her sexuality). His cries towards the end of the song are gut wrenchingly beautiful!

  • @VampireKristi41 :( Sad

  • This should be the theme song for To Catch a Predator.

  • been the 16 yr old and will never forget this song.

  • I sense there was much heart, soul, passion, sweat, and tears in the recording room during the making of this classic.

  • I first heard this song about 20 years back, during an episode of the Twilight Zone. It had haunted me ever since - every once in a while, I will sing it in my mind. Really powerful melody, voice & lyrics!! Simply amazing. Period.

  • she was 16. i was 19. been married now 18 years. one of the most heartfelt, real songs ever recorded. period.

  • I LOVE This Song Everytime I Hear It!My Friend Has The Album Never Run Never Hide.Every Song Is Great. This One Is Very Sensual... I Met Benny At A Show When I Lived In Florida.

  • This is the most romantic song ever written, every time I hear it I am blown away. quit reading something into this that isn't there. I agree with mixwell63

  • Will always be one of the most gorgeous songs ever!

  • BEAUTIFUL SONG!

  • I really love this song. It has one of the most soulful vocal performances I've ever heard. I wish the first couple of lines were different, I just imagine he's 17 and she's 16. Anyway I think the piano part is really fabulous too as it augments the mood and is so complementary''.

  • Billboard's #69 song of '80. Benny hit #11 in Billboard. God bless!

  • sensasional!!!!!

  • i can never get tired of this song...and i prefer this version...i can really feel the torment in his voice...

  • i so love this song since the first time i heard it but damn he doesnt look like what i thought he would thats ok he can sing his ass off

  • @mymanlovesme1 I think you really need to grow up or may be get some help because you have some kind of mental problem. So grow up!

  • Classic!!!! Yes powerful too!

  • This is the best version. It's the most powerful!

  • @TopTenCrew So you are telling us "pedos" have a certain look? Grow up!

  • @jimymax58

No, you can just kind of tell when someone is one. And going by the lyrics of the song, well...

  • @TopTenCrew Well you not being a good pc liberal, you are profiling. Also I believe Benny was either 16 or 17 when he recorded this song! I still think you need to grow up!

  • ...forever, for DF. .... ...

  • es chileno el culiao

  • @mymanlovesme1 People like you are always looking at the negative in everything! I can tell you just don't get it. Grow up!

  • @jimymax58 hey jimmy maybe its you he wrote the song about, thats why u so offended... here's my hit song its called go play in traffic some where, be sure to cop the album.. fucktard

  • @mymanlovesme1 You a very sick person and you need some help for your mental problems. I know there is some kind of free mental help in your area. Better get some help soon!

  • @jimymax58 why are you trolling the song so hard, is this your full time job? because i dont agree with the pedophile impression i got of the song it make you mad? im sick cause i disagree wow, well guess what that still doesnt change my thoughts on the song. so you can keep being the pedos butt boy your comment you posted on my page dont phase me one bit, so go take a hot relaxing bath in a lava pit. lol ima dirty canuck because i hate this song, ok dude tell me how mardones cum taste....

  • That first line actually came when Mardones was out running one morning w/a friend...they passed his teenage neighbor, and when his friend made some kinda comment about her being a hottie, Mardones told him "hey, she's just 16 years old, leave her alone!".

  • This song is so intimate good for Lovers.....Makes me miss someone!!! xxoo

  • I love this version,too.

  • Maybe he's singing the song in third person. Ya know?

  • whats with all the pedophile comments?? The song never says how old he is...could be 18...Just enjoy the feeling in the song and his kick ass voice.

  • This is NOT the older version!! This has clearly been remastered and DESTROYED with reverb. Go here for original version...

  • @anonymousent

oh please. c'mon. i proudly gave my innocence to a man in his 20s when i was 16. there was nothing nasty about it. no one conned me and he sure as hell wasn't a creep preying on little girls. that was some 30 years ago! teens mess around and experiment all the time. some of us just don't want to experiment with BOYS in high school! lol and for the record, i know plenty of GUYS that fooled around with women back then who were in their 20s and the guys were only teenagers..

  • @anonymousent

don't have kids and well past that to have 'em and i'm not gonna preach to 'em.

that's rich coming from someone who under your profile for movies it's "anything with nudity" and you're freaking on me accusing me of being something i never was. "getting boned by the neighborhood dudes in their 20s and 30s" - 16 yr olds, both females and males, have been exploring relationships with others outside their age group for centuries - get over it.

  • @anonymousent

you were the one asserting morality on others and when you go implying things to others w/o any grounds you best be prepared to hear from that person. you, like several others on these comments take a song and turn it into something dirty. if people actually read past the cliff notes of romeo & juliet, that would probably be banned. no you need an education and understand that age of consent laws were introduced by puritans- same ones that went after midwives for healing with herbs

  • @anonymousent

re your profile, "my profile is supposed to be COMEDY - read the rest gurl !! ( and it didn't say nudity under 18 did it ??? ) "

you really misread my comment when you interpreted it that way. you shouldn't go pushing around your morality on others when your own is left to question. you don't have to be watching kiddie porn - your whole profile, whether you say it's for comedic reasons or not is hardly something to be proud of if you're a parent - keep your own house in order 1st.

  • Its just a song?? A song that made it twice to number 1? Thats all? WTF??

  • this is not the original 1980 version. i have 3 versions & this is not the one.

  • I can't help but think of of Selena Gomes......lol

  • this says it all for intense passion and true desire....

  • Whats the meaning of this song ????

    O.O

    does he wanna fly?

    cause im confused ?

  • this is on the pedo bear movie sountrack.

  • I LIKE THIS SONG...USHER REMADES THIS SONG ON HIS NEW CD...

  • @PrinceOfDaMIA Really? I think I'll check it out. Thanks for the info.

  • GREAT SONG !! IT WAS NUMBER ONE TEN YEARS BACK..AND THEN CAME BACK AND IT WENT TO NUMBER ONE !! THE ONLY SONG TO DO THAT~~~~

  • mi cancion favorita con ella me enamore en los años 80

  • What year did the first version come out???

  • This was the theme for my old high school's homecoming dance in 1997. The girl that I went to the dance was 18 years old and I was 30 years old. This became our song all thru-out her senior year as we dated her senior year and 2 years after.

It was the best dance I had ever went to at PCHS, in Alabama. Thanks, Beth. You are always in my heart.

  • @SlowDaddie >> When you love someone, does age really play a factor between two people? The whole time we dated, we were not messing around sexually, as you may think. There is a word, that two of us shared together, and it is called: RESPECT!

  • @kev1fsu

Imagine that!...17 years after the song was first recorded, and released again in 1989. It was appropriate enough to be at a high school prom theme. Wow! I'm thinking they weren't too concerned with pedophiles, right? She was 18, you 30..adults--period... Glad that song still hold good memories.

  • SHIT! This one IS better! Very subtle...

  • I know that white tie is HARD!

  • Comment removed

  • One of the best rock ballads ever.

  • I loved this song and bought it on 45 when I was 15. It was my own story one year later when I was "just 16 years old".

  • Comment removed

  • Not the original.

  • GODDAMMIT, I love this song...a great "fuck song".

  • lol he even looks like a pedo! : )

  • @ben0vame That's funny cause he's singing about a 16 year old. Wasn't Sleeping Beauty and all the other Princess 16 too? hmmm.. Have you ever voted? Good chance you voted for a pedophile! Specially if you voted Republican.. don't believe me, Google Republican Sex Offenders! Most of them aren't even into Women, they prefer young boys! now that's sick!

  • @romeroenrique don't get me wrong, I luv this song, I wouldn't be on this page if I didn't! Just stating a matter of opinion.

Pedos run the world, they've ran it since the greek and roman empires. Don't believe me, Google it! the catholic church is full of pedos! I don't vote republican nor am I catholic. But point taken...now go grab a joint and chill out...and press rewind : D lol

  • @ben0vame I'm with you. People have to take better care of their kids. That too is a problem you know. I would never put my kid in the hands of Clergymen or anybody for that matter. I don't smoke :)

  • takes me back to the good old days! loved it then, one of my favs still

  • Hell of a song!

  • Huh...Young Love cannot be compared too, a life time has shown me this...Rewind..

  • One of my all time favorites

  • Will always Love this song. So many good memories. Best line....I would wait til the end of time and do it again it's true

  • True this song is about fobidden love! But really listen to the lyrics and you see that the singer realises this and is walking away!He speaks about what he would do if he were allowed! We all would be in prision or dead if we were convicted for our thoughts!

Remember you have some really adult teenagers now!

  • This is the closest version to the original radio play I've heard, only a fine ear (and a great memory) would be able to separate the differences. Good job, considering Benny put out about 50 wildly varied spins on this dynamite soulful ballad. Not bad if you consider the lyrics are about statutory rape..he he.

  • Makes me think of my first love when I was 16. played it over and over when we were separated

  • Serious pipes. What a great singer.
