In my parents' building, people don't even want to pay the water fee, they say that they did not have to pay water fee before since they get water from well, I don't think it is right. China has changed, they should not live in the past. althought those people's standard of living has impoved, they still complain, and give the ignorance reporters chance to make stories.

This Chinese professor doesn't quite understand the situation in China. It is not rent, it is management fee, every owner have to pay it, it is like the condominium fee in the West. The people used to live in HuTong don't get use to it, because they did not have to pay it when they were living in HuTong.

First, in China, the land belong to the country, the people who live there don't own the land, so it is proper to let the people move.

Second, the compensation is quite fair, at least those I know.

My suggestion is looking at China with an open mind, don't assume that you know everything. I found that some professor's knowledge are outdated, or it is their perspectives, not the Chinese people's perspective. Strongly suggest people listen to the majority of China people, not the handful Chinese or some professor who pretend knowing about China...

If you are not a chinese, u are hard to understand the passion and feeling of the Chinese people regarding Olympics, It is not something could be made by any propaganda. We dream about it even before the Government apply to hold the olympics.

The people who don't want to move and ask for more money is because they are too greedy.

For example, my grandfather has a little house in the area, after my grandfather died, nobody live there, but since they heard that area will be reconstructed, my uncles and aunt all try to move back to the old house. They expected to ask for more money since more people live there. and don't think it is right. The government has done what they suppose to do. This also let the westerner to make stories.
