Her mother was beautiful but I think Nancy got her dad's looks- not bad but a bit plain. Couldn't she have had her roots touched up for this appearance?!
One example of the Sinatras. I am a teacher and one afternoon a phone call came from Frank Sinatra's secretary asking for a friend's home address. He, the secretary, apologized repeatedly for bothering me at school and said "Mr. Sinatra apologizes too." I said, "You tell Mr. Sinatra he can bother me anytime, anywhere; it's an honor."
Regarding Nancy using the name Sinatra, it would never have occurred to her. As a family the Sinatras add up to far more than show business stars. The family includes doctors, artists, lawyers, and much more. For being who they were, the Sinatras always have also been a traditional Italian-American family with all the love, pride and brights that implies. They also have always been tremendously generous people to good causes and people in need.
Regarding Nancy's singing voice, it is was and is strong and true. For records, a soft, feminine approach worked best but in performance she could be a belter. No less than the great jazz singer Chris Connor thought Nancy was a great singer, as did the legendary Peggy Lee. And many critics praised her long breath line, great intonation and sense of feeling. In the recording studio, she was very easy to record.
interesting introduction by mrs. arlene, "more often than not at my left, mr. martin gable". a political jab?
also interesting that nancy sinatra didn't use another stage name to alleviate any doubt about her own fame. correct me if i'm wrong, but didn't she have a less than powerful singing voice?
Nancy didn't get as many benefits from being Frank's daughter as you'd think. She got signed to Reprise records through exactly the process other talent did, to the same standard contract, and he told her it was up to her to make good and if she didn't her contract would not be renewed. She went through a series of singles, some which barely got noticed, some which did, but when "Boots" came along Frank had nothing to do with it. She worked hard and was clearly a very talented individual.
Rex Reed said whatever they did with Nancy she still looked like a pizza waitress. But it was never, ever true, as you can see her. She was always darling. Besides being talented, she also was forever unspoiled, down to earth, intelligent and a good mother and daughter. Her catalog of music attests to her great taste in material and wonderful style.
Nancy had been on WML before as a mystery guest with then-husband Tommy Sands in thge early 60's. By this appearance, they'd split. I'd guess this was in 1966-67, since that's when Boots was a hit and there was no Dorothy Kilgalen on the panel.
I wouldn't mind seeing Arlene in a faboo Rudi Gernreich topless bathing suit.

@MOGGS1942 ~ i didn't say she "should".

@tomitstube No...Martin Gabel was Arlene's husband, thus often alongside her in one form or another.

Nancy was really cute, and for me she is also one of the best singers.
