Thanks for responding. I've been looking. The currents are pretty swift & the winds can come up at any moment. I might have to resort to a drag system. It's basically a parachute type device to slow down the drift.LOL
This has worked really well for me and my wife. She has had no problem at all using this set up. You will have to tie off the rope in the yak and find a way that works for you to coil the rope and keep it out of your way. Also a way to adjust length of line out. I use a simple clamp I picked up for a few dollars or I just do a quicky knot in the Yak

Not bad but do you think it'll work in 30 meters of water?

@hombrelubinero
I use 1/4" paracord for my anchor, and it works fine. The thinner line means I can wrap it around the weight more, resulting in a greater length.
Personally, I don't think marine-grade rope is required for a light weight.

That system works, however if for any reason the anchor gets fouled
on underwater brush you can't get to the front of the kayak.
You might have to release the line and lose the anchor or your possibly
stranded. The detachable system is safer especially if the wind comes up. IMHO

@impulse38 Good point, this set-up is not recommended for heavy currents. Always think safety.

@kaz2664 Excellent, it sounds like you improved on the idea.

This simple set up makes the difference, it can save a fishing trip. I use it every time I'm out so far.
