@MsDIDOUAZ852 its from the book the things they carried by Tim O`brien. Its a collection of short stories from vietnam, this one is originally called sweetheart of the song tra bong. If you like vietnam, READ THAT DAMN BOOK.

I remember seeing this when it was first released and to be honest it kind of spat on Tim O' Brien's story to me, it is impossible to adapt his work into film.
