These cars are part of American history. They could be rolling museums. In cases where some idiot is just letting them rot with no intention of restoring them there should be legislation that allows for these cars to be confiscated and auctioned. They need to be protected just as classic buildings are.

Maybe not. There are imbeciles out there sitting on rare cars and letting them rot away. Years ago there was a story in one of the magazines about some idiot that had one of the very few '67 GTX Hemi 4-speed convertibles rotting away in his yard and he refused some incredible offers to sell it. He even admitted he had no plans to ever restore it. He was just going to let it rot. They should have knocked his ass out and towed the car away.
