Thanks for posting. I'm looking to go dual sport but keep my Hayabusa - it's great but useless in the dirt. Time to tour and hit some trails!!! Thanks for the video! Rock on, buddy!
hey how do you like the 650l ? i want to stop riding super sport bikes i am done with high speed i wanted the 230l but my disability my right leg does not bend so i need more ground clearance so im just going to go with the 650l anything i should know about the bike before i get one? i am 5.6 125 lbs i had a 125 enduro in columbus ohio there kick ass now i am long island ny theres a lot trails much respect kenny.m
It's a great bike: reliable, capable, simple, and plenty of after-market parts to boost power. I'm 5'10" and can touch both feet to the ground - barely. If you buy a stock one, you will want to re-jet as soon as possible as they come lean from the factory.
You say it easily rides at 75? I like that because i would like to go places far away that my street bike cant go and they are easily accessabel by highway. Also, how many horse power does it have and it only has five speeds? I would prefer six. Thank you
With the stock gearing, it will cruise easily at 80+. I've had it up to 100 a few times and cruised at around 90mph for awhile on a long trip (400 miles in one day). I don't remember the horsepower when it's in stock condition, but you can easily increase it by re-jetting and adding an after-market exhaust. It will also run cooler.
More specifically, what rpm does it rev at when going 75 and 80? those are the speeds i like cruising at on the highway. What i mean is does it ride comfortabley, i know its small and will get blown and such but does ir run fairly smooth?
It does cruise comfortably but a lot depends on how it is set up. With stock gearing, 80 mph is no problem. However, it is a light bike compared to a cruiser. If you run full knobbies, it will be buzzy. The front fender also wobbles at speed but a stiffer, more aerodynamic CRF fender bolts right on. A steering damper also helps reduce wobbles.
It is air cooled and has 5 speeds. With the stock gearing I had it up to 100 mph a few times - then my courage ran out. Now it's geared to about 85 - 90 mph. Fast enough for me.
It's the most fun bike I've had. Reliable, fun and, although it's not a lightweight race bike, it can do just about everything and still get you home at the end of the day.
idk where he is at but brown mountain ohv, above morganton, is a great place. im heading up that way tomorrow to do some dirt road riding on the xr650l

Basically what im getting at is does the engine rev so high that it isnt necessarily good for thr engine? when traveling at that speed?

I was running Mefo knobbies during the video. I have since switched to a Pirelli Scorpion Pro in front and a Dunlop D606 in back. Much better!

I love it! Would have liked at least a little bit of engine sound in there. My lips feel funny now having to make engine sounds.
