Part of the Santana Holy Trinity along with Welcome and Caravanserei - an absolutely brilliant swath of music that I still listen to all the time. Timeless indeed...
One of Santana's finest albums. It would be the last with Mike Schrieve and also Chepito would leave. But the musicians here all were fantastic. David Brown played well . There are some real great jazzmen here. Airto and Flora did lovely things also and Ndugu would prove a worthy replacement for Schrieve. This and Canto de los Flores are the best from side 1... Side 2 would explode and make this LP one of my all time favorites... I own it 3 times!
Outstanding piece on the album creating a nice flow between "One With The Sun" and "Mirage". The tenor sax solo by Jules Broussard makes the piece completely dynamic, sensual, and hypnotic. His tone is almost where L.A. and European Jazz meet - somewhere in the "noir" and film-noir-like if we are talking cinema. Definitely a closet-classic from the Santana collection off perhaps their greatest album. "Borboletta" in 1974.
