  • You had to in l929 after the second crash lol..........A great song to cheer ya up.

  • Grzegorz my friend, excellent. I like very much your tunes! Thanks for sharing!

  • @fredjmp Hi Fred! It's one of my favorite tunes: so happy, so careless, it's one of these last happy tunes just before the Great Buuum! in October 1929. Polish version of it was recorded by Chór Dana with rather banal lyrics totally ignoring the "painting aspect" of the English text: in Polish it went like "Do You Really Have Such A Pretty Face / Or It Only Seemed So To Me" etc etc

  • My Darling Grzegorz,

Love this song......love the BANJOLICIOUS BANJO!

Love that photo of the Hylton Band in Luna Park....

I like those snuggly one piece bathing suits. :-)

Thought Luna Park was in Old Coney Island but I guess it was in Old Berlin too.....:-)

Excuse me...I have to go paint some clouds.....now!!!!

  • @genia106 If you are short of clouds on the sky in New York City don't hesitate to ask and I'll send you some. We have plenty of them in Poland now: big, grey and heavy, and definitely needing a good paint!

  • Like it...

  • keep painting those clouds.... great version of this tune. love the vid. thank you on a bitterly cold day; this may help to warm the place up. brrrrr. i remember the silver linings on cigarette packs even though i don't smoke my father did...funny the little things that you remember.

  • @bill3murr Thank you BIll. I love these hot dance recordings of Hylton's band from before the Great Depression. It was then, definetely, one of the best dance bands in the world. Regretfully, they did not keep their extra-league position thru 1930s, when Hylton had to change arrangements towards the big-band sound. Yet, still many of these later recordings are exquisite! If you have moment please see in Dailymotion my recent upload of Hylton's "Hypnotised" from 1936 - it's wonderful!

  • @240252 Hylton's best period indeed.

  • If only I could find a jar or even a tube of sunshine, I would paint those clouds night and day. Guess I'll have to settle for now on the silver linings and forget that every silver lining has a cloud. Remember the silver linings of cigarette packs?

  • @barbcard I just wrote to Genia about so many grey clouds on the Polish sky today, that I'd be happy to send her some to paint, if she's short of them in NYC. Russia's daclaration on the "reasons" of the Smolensk plane catastrophe - the "drunkard Polish pilots" - shows clearly the miserable state of the world we're living in. Plus immediate reaction of German press - who in recent 2 days does nothing but herolding on front pages the news about "Polish drunk pilots" - deeply saddens me.
