  • Dear Kevin,

You and Sisjewel are responsible for me buying one of these Blaine not-a-strum-sticks! I love the body and the louder sound much better than certain other higher priced type duclimer like instruments. I am grateful to your videos in helping me decide what product to buy.

  • Hey, that's fantastic! Thank you so much for letting me know. I think this is a great instrument and it makes me glad to know our little musical conversation has helped someone else discover it. Hope to see a video of you playing sometime!

  • wow u r like so good

  • hi kevin, blaine just mailed my strum stick yesterday, cant wait to play it! i really like what you do with it, do you also play other instruments? could you keep posting videos? i'm totally in the dark and this is the next best thing to having someone to practice with.

  • Hoorah! It's great to see others getting started. Yes! I will be posting more videos and more music soon. Very soon. I would love to "practice" with you! Send me a message anytime. I'd love to be of whatever help I can. Thanks for watching and commenting! :)

  • I just love the song though, very fun to play, pretty little melody, you did a great job, you didn't really need me!!

  • Well, I thought it felt like a starting place more than anything finished. I figured you'd come up with some cool other place to take it. Lyrics and bridge would work. That's a lot to do at once, I thought we'd just add a bit, then add another bit, etc. But if that's what you've got, go right ahead! Add whatever you like. :)

  • ok, I have been working on it, and honestly, it seems like a finished song already, I'm not sure where else to go with it, it seems to already have a verse and a chorus, at least by my definitions of a song, and I guess I could add a bridge, but you pretty much finished it by yourself. I will go ahead and add some lyrics and a bridge if that is ok with you.

  • very cool.. ha.. I've seen her playing one of these.. neat instrument. good playing.

  • Yeah, I like it quite a bit. I will do more actual playing soon. I've primarily noodled thus far. Glad you like it.

  • This is very cool, I liked your little jam session!! you could definitly teach me a few new tricks... I am game..I will see what I can put together for an add-on response to your song. Maybe I will even add some lyrics if you don't mind. Your section sounds to me kind of like a chorus, so maybe I will add a verse. How is yours tuned? what key? and is it tuned D,A,D style?

  • Yeah, roughly DAD. I don't have a tuner, so I'm sure it's not exact and of course the sound quality leaves something to be desired. Oh, well. I'm glad you liked it! :) Do what you wish. We'll build a section at a time and see what happens. I'm not used to playing and singing - fair warning up front! I hope it's fun.
