  • I see yours is as noisy as my 1938 12"! Those straight cut gears sure make a racket!

    Mine has loose change gears and no power cross feed like yours, but works well for what it is. Definitely NOT a heavy duty, high precision machine - but can yield good results with some finesse.

    I'm thinking of selling and upgrading though...

  • @Ziknazoo I think most of my noise came from me cleaning too much gunk off the gears. I added some light grease to the gears and it sounded much better. I couldnt do precision work if I tried, I have no clue what I'm doing . I'm basically going to use it for wood turning and the occasional piece of metal. I may sell mine too.

  • Great lathe, but can become very expensive with the extra tooling. Milling machine might be just as useful, maybe more.
