My grandpa used to take me and my brother to school in the early mornings before my mom came home from work because she worked midnights, and my grandpa always listened to this and "The battle of New Orleans" and it just made me think about him and brought back some great memories, he passed away almost 3 years ago. I was always a big fan of Johnny Horton's. I was only ten when this song first came out but within time it grew on me & so did all his other songs. Johnny left us way too soon in that fatal car crash in 1960 at the prime of his youth, 35 years old. I could only imagine how many more songs he could have made. He was known for movie theme songs & his first venture out of the block, "The Battle Of New Orleans" which was a chart topper in 1959. It's true "the good they do die young" amen to that!!

i will say alaska is amazing. Ive taken alot of carribean and alot of alaskan cruises as well. Ive traveled the world for many years. It depends what your looking for. if your looking to sip a mai tai and relax on a white sand beach, then carribean. If your looking to sightsee and adventure, fish, and be in the outdoors alaska is a must. Beautiful land there.
