i feel the reason Ainge got rid of Perk was that after the injury, a lot of people were saying and thinking that Perk was not gonna be 100% after coming back and that he could possibly aggravate the injury to the point where he could not play again, plus his contract was up at the end of the year and they wasn't sure if he was going to resign with them, so Ainge was probably thinking if all these variables are true then i might as well trade and get James harden out of it
@2Good2BeTrue45 they ended up not getting Harden but Jeff Green (who is great in my opinion and after this season, he will make waves) then Shaq got injured and Jermaine was a lost cause. I also feel that shaq had a hand in it cause during the season, he was looking and playing like the old shaq and putting up big numbers and he knew that once Perk came back, he would be riding the bench, he says that he told Danny not make the trade but i believe otherwise
still the stupidest move ainge has made. he gave away THE piece of the championship that boston needed. Boston was front court stacked with Perkins Shaq and Jermaine at the 5 and Shaq could've still contributed a decent number as long as he's coming off the bench and letting perkins start at the 5. he was amazing at the low post holding pau off
I love kendrick perkins, regardless of how you feel about his talent he seems to be one of the few authentic baskteball players who didn't adapt a primadonna attitude once he made it to the NBA. Boston and being a celtic was home for Perk , I doubt he would have left in all honesty . was holding on to him risky? yes but at the end of the day it's impossible to buy the level of loyalty players like perk and nash bring to the table.
i just hope that... somehow, someway.. perk returns to boston. i know that he knows that we all know he is a celtic at heart and most importantly a celtic for life. god bless
One of the biggest mistakes in recent memory in which fans recognized its foolishness even before the Celtics played their first game without Perkins.
