  • THANK THE LORD!

  • cheers lad

  • that;s like the way called lattice way ok then nice keep it upppppper

  • im in year 7 i have a big test next week and this has now completed my check list of revision thanx x

  • well done (:

  • Thank You Thank You Thank You! All my life math has been impossible now I laugh at the beauty of it!

  • I went through 18 years of school and never knew how I to do this and it took me 20 minutes to figure this method out

  • This helped me a lot now i can ace my tests!!!!

  • Thank you; Very helpful...

Can I ask what if the sum was

5070 by 306 how do we treat the zeros ?

  • @v5mark The method will work for any numbers, just use a four by three sized grid and remember anything multiplied by a zero is zero.

  • What is the first method called?

  • @anneschoice This grid method is apparently known as a variety of names. i was first introduced to it as the Russian Method but I have no idea if that has any substance. The traditional method in the other videos doesn't have a name as far as I know other than Long Multiplication

  • @psychosides Another name for this method is called Gelosia (jee-lo-see-uh) or Lattice Mehod .

  • Currently studying to take the GMAT and I must say your mini-tutorials are exceptional. Thank you so much for helping me to brush up on long forgotten mathematical principles; some of which weren't that fresh in the first place.

    Kudos

  • you sound like a guy from lord of the rings........

  • you have the kind of voice i could fall asleep to, i mean that in the nicest way possible.

  • if you came up with this method you deserve a medel of some type!!!! its brilliant, ive always found the conventional way REALLY confusing:( this is fail safe and easy to do though:) thanks heaps mate!!!

  • The reason the 0 became a 1 was that the diagonal before added up to 10 or more and so you have to "carry" the 1 into the next diagonal. In your example of 28 x 23 the digits in the penultimate doagonal only add up to 6 so there is no carry

  • you spelled "you" right once, why did you revert back to stupidity later in the same sentence?

    aditionally,

    a. stupid*

    b. method*

    c. taking*

    d. analysis*

    e. classes* (thrice)

    f. differential*

    g. equations*

    yes, you are an idiot.

  • i have a learning disability idiot ...

  • and american kids get stupider and stupider

  • not sure what you mean , but i've always known it as the Russian method others know it as the Chinese method. It also serves to explain why the traditional "english" method works.

Whatever "trick" or algorithm you use if it's efficient and this has been proved to be as efficient as traditionally taught methods, and it works then use it if you like and and don't if you don't.

PS - nowt to do with the yanks

  • thankyou i was looking for an easier way !!
