I went there too..every day I could..I saw Dick several times after that; and worked with him on Back to The Beach (1989) (I think I got the date correct( go to imdb.com and check it out
I loved him. I miss the 60s and Dick. The long lines dancing..we created the original surfers stomp.......
Don't remember this song but went everything that Dick Dale played in the 60's. Was a regular at Harmony Park and the Rendivoux in Balboa. My girlfriend, Verna Kuskie, and high school buddy, Terry Syndergaard, followed him everywhere. Times were really good then. Not like today - then, we went out and had a good time and nobody was stabbed, raped or killed. It was a safer and a much better world than the kids face today. We just had fun. I believe the Liberal mindset has destroyed our world.
Harmony Park had a wood slate floor like a basketball court floor. The boards were worn and loose and if you stomped your feet it would make a loud percussive sound. Kids would get in long lines and stomp (surfers stomp) and it created an unique sound and atmosphere--the building would resonate.
Sunday night (opened at 5:00 pm) at Harmony Park with all the surf bunnies was very cool.
@ShiitFerBrains you'd have loved it....we danced in LONG LONG LINES to his tunes. I remember him singing this here. And Dick's still rocking with his son Jimmy!
Yes, there's more. I've recently added another clip from this show, featuring two tunes with Dick playing drums and saxophone, respectively. And elsewhere on YouTube is a clip of the tune Miserlou being performed at this same Harmony Park show.
