i say: no because males have a bulge under their tail you can probably tell what that is look at 0:50. i have experience with hamsters. so rats being almost like hamster (but without the tail) i know but i have a female my friend has a male i found out for him.

You know what i find interesting, these are both the most hideous nuisance and the most wonderful companion pet at the same time depending on who you ask. The only animal I ever really consider a pet though as I loath dogs and am not too fond of cats.

AWWWWWWW is this a very rare moments or fairly common for male rats? I would love to get a docile, cuddly male rate but i hear they can smell quite a bit :( i personally wouldn't mind, but my familiy probably will have a problem with that..

@333pinkelephant333 It depends how you raise them. My rat NEVER gets tired of attention, but some other rats do. And yes, males mark their territory by peeing, while females can even be potty trained.

If you get rats from a pet shop, chances are much higher that they were never properly socialized and therefore do not enjoy human company as much as if you get them from a responsible breeder.

And unless you plan on spending ALL DAY with them, you should get at least two as companions.
