I wish they made sheet music for this piece that was written for Bb trumpet I really dont want to transpose it or buy a C trumpet I mean I'm only a freshman in high school
@MultiAC130 they do have sheet music for Bb and just get ur C trumpet man. i mean if u r serious about trp u will need it anyway so u may as well get it now. u will need it for AMUS or equivelant
Wynton is playing trumpet like singing - it's very rare for those who play trumpet...Most of times they can't develop the frase and only play notes. He makes something more than only playing - this is the real talent! It doesn't sound like trumpet - this is the voice write from his heart.
I started on flute about 4 years ago, and I'd say I'm fairly good at it, but i don't like playing it nearly as much as the trumpet .I just started playing trumpet a couple months ago. I've made a lot of progress on my range in just the past couple days. I've only had time to play every once in a while, and i can't wait to be able to play something even remotely close to this.
that would be amazing if you could play like this as a 7th grader but i think he means he is playing grade 7 pieces...i guess.......do those even exist. Hi phrasing was awkward but i think he means thats the grade of music. Maybe. just a thought
no i mean i am grade 7. to make this music you have to a be a true professional like him. easily grade 8 piece. he has such a lovely sound to his playing doesn't he.
@Gozaburo1 lol if u think its the most difficult u musnt b that good. unless our talking musicaly. in that case it would b up there. but technically i think tomasi's "triptyque" 3rd mvt is very technically demanding. cornet pieces require alot more than trp pieces so if u r looking for technique then go to the back of the arbans and play the solos. they require heaps of maturity and musicality and technique. soo there u go
@so1many1taken1names I am referring the entire concerto, as I outlined in my first comment. You can train anyone to play technically, you can find musicians a dime a dozen who can play incredibly technical pieces. But there is a reason only a few of them make it big in the music industry, like Wynton. Its because they have a feel for
music and can insert themselves emotionally into the piece. So yes, it is difficult to play this piece this well, which is the proper way to play it.
This is my favorite Wynton recording by far. His playing here is really tremendous! And I usually would pick him over Andre, but on this piece I agree with demspin12, that Andre's recording is better. I think Wynton's tone is just as good here, though!
lol

@OlgaKopylova essentially, all a wind instrument is is an extension of your voice

if they do, it won't be for my trumpet playing; oh well, Tomasi wrote some other things I like better anyhow

This is regarded by professional trumpet players as one of the hardest pieces. Marsalis is also one of the best. I myself would never attempt it.

if you were able to play like this as a 7th grader, i would die
this guy has years of experiances on him
if you work hard and practice lots, maybe in about 20 to 30 years, students might be the one being listened to:)
go practice!
