  • @yuga2 ok then but do u feel it drop or y were the peeps screaming

  • @icrushkool It's a motion simulator. The "ship" is a room that sits on a motion system. Paired with the ultra-HD film, the illusion is that you are flying.

  • Do u actually drop in this ride is there a drop??

  • @icrushkool Not as such. The ride is actually a motion simulator so, while you never actually drop, the combination of motion and film give that impression.

  • i went on it when i was little! but it is closed right now. on march 26 2011 ( in 6 days) it is my bday and i will get to go to disey land but star tours is not open : (

  • nn ho capito nnt ma mi piace cmq

  • when i rode it it wasn't that fun to me

  • Dude it is coming back, and tons of us SW fans are waiting!! I know I definitely am.also want some SWST patches also, and both starspeeders as well.Have a great day and May The Force Be With You!!

  • RIP star tours :'(

  • WAIT! Have you guys ever noticed that Star Tours is in TOMORROWland even though it says in the Star Wars films that the movie takes place "A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away..." The films didn't take place in the future, but in the past. What's it doing in a place that is designed as the future? I barely just though of this right now!

  • It's ALWAYS that droid's first flight.

  • the reson captain rex dosn't work right is because on his torso there is a red plastic strip that says remove before flight.

  • i hate those fgts yelling in the background

it's almost like talking during a movie

  • sorry for double comment, but....

if you wanna get the most out of this ride, don't hold on to anything. it feels like you're gonna fall out and your instinct is to grab onto something, but don't, the seatbelt takes care of everything. everything feels much more realistic, especially when you start to fall toward the death star and when you fall in the launching bay. i wish light speed was longer too. and i love the tractor beam part!

  • lol when my friend and i were waiting to board the starspeeder for the second time, she looked around and then said loudly "strange... last time there was a wookiee here!" everyone was staring and we started cracking up lol it was funny i'm gonna do that again when i go to disneyland tomorrow!!!

  • This was one of my favorite rides!! I always wanted to have the feel of being in a Star Wars ship!!

  • Captain Rex is voice by Paul Reubens himself! He even has Pee-wee's laugh.

  • Your Droid tour guide/pilot - Mr PeeWee Herman himself - Paul Reubens

  • This is by far my FAVORITE ride, as a Star Wars fan, and a amusement park fan.

  • thats is a good ride and my freind is a mechinac at disney land he told me some stuff about star tours that i did not know that r2d2 during the movies thats somebody was inside hime and he show me the spare r2d2 for star tours it look like the real one from the movies and 3cpo has a backup too in the back just in case a it breaks down for it and he told me when you enter the ride look down on the boaeding platform you will see down below you are in the air

  • So you actually are above ground during the ride?

  • Yes.

  • Seems they allowed you to film your adventure.

  • My dad filmed the whole freakin thing, RIGHT IN FRONT OF A WORKER WHEN IT SAID NO PICTURES OR VIDEOTAKING.

  • Looks fun. xD

    I wanna ride it.

  • I love this ride!

  • i wish they would change how this ride goes... its just the same thing over and over again and the robot says "this is probably ur first flight and it's mine too" HE'S TELLING LIES!!!!!!

  • lo i know but you know if anyone is like the girl from 50 first dates anytime is there first time lol

  • LOL

  • i hated this ride... it made me wanna puke

  • this ride is cool

  • I agree with "chrisaclark." There should be a version of this ride where the spaceship actually reaches planet Endor as the droids planned, plus it encounters everything else it encounters on this ride.

  • Random fact from a Star Wars freak...Endor was a moon, not a planet. Sorry, had to throw that in there

  • I remeber when I was waiting in line and you had to go inside a room to wait theres about 3 freaky aliens starring at you

  • everyone on the world loves this ride forever! i have that cool spaceship as toy,i really like him...thats years ago.And i love that ride :)

  • i can't believe they haven't made different versions of this ride. it's a just a movie with the hydraulics moving the passenger thing up/down/around/etc in timing with the movie. in other words, it would be the easiest ride to make many different versions/scenarios. Maybe have 5 or 6 that rotate. how cool would that be - every time you go on Star Tours, you go to a different place!! don't know why in 20 years they've never done this.

  • I've heard rumors in the past few years that they are planning on doing this - at least make 2 different "destinations" - but I have yet to see anything definitive. :(

  • @yuga2 From what I have read, they will do this for Star Tours 2. Maybe even more destinations.

  • @sonic619760 That would be great!

  • @yuga2 Yup! :D .Actually, if you look star tours two up and read some info, theres a picture of is im correct the Starspeeder 1000 in Coruscant.

  • @yuga2 Gonna be riding star tours 2 on june 5th!!

  • @yuga2 It is! ive been on it, its better than the first, WAY better

  • @sonic619760 I went on star tours 2 a week ago theres 54 different combinations of destinations now! ITS AMAZING.

  • @MrFunnyGuy83 I too went on it this summer, its awesome :)

  • @chrisaclark Hory shet. It finally happened.

  • I love this ride but in France when you want to do it there is a queue of 45 mn, unless you have a fastpass, but I don't care because it's my favorite , I regret only one thing: it's too short.

  • I agree. I'd love it if it were longer!

  • i think Vic would love to be on this ride ^^

  • ive been on this ride before it cool

  • this should have been the biggest ride in da world nuff said

  • I went on the one at WDW. It was AWESOME!!!!

  • I thought this would be very scary, so I didn't go on it. But I went to sea world and tried an artic ride that felt exactly like this. Now I know how it feels. I'm going to try that next time!

  • i luved that ride!!!

  • Favorite Ride....'Nuff Said ^_^b

  • love it

    see the one i have

  • love it when smoke and love new pilot

  • *during lightspeed*

    that feeeel gooooooood

  • HA!

  • super ta vidéo ça rappelle de bons souvenirs et en plus elle est asser nette

  • I HATE DISNEY LINES I love disney rides.

  • This is so kewl I especially love it when your crashing into the ice things and when you do light speed thing!

  • Observe this video at 5:37, notice the surface detail on the Death Star changes at 5:38 just as a flash of light from a laser bolt passes by us. The slit-second of the laser obscuring the Camera Frame was used to change the scene from the outside of the Death Star to the Trench Run model that was used in the original filming of Star Wars IV: A New Hope ( 1977 )

  • Wow! Thanks for the in-depth analysis. I hadn't really thought about that before. Makes it even better!

  • To progress from 1 scene to the next in a seemless fashion was very difficult and took alot of creative "tricks" that we, as the audience are unaware of. For example, the laser bolts that flash by so close to us as we fly in a space battle near the Death Star are not there to "scare you", but are in fact the "tricks" used to fade in & out of 1 scene to the next.

  • The visual FX producers from ILM often said that the filming of Star Tours was "100 times MORE difficult than filming TESB or ROTJ." The reason being is because this small "movie-ride" is ONE continuous take. In other words, there are seemingly NO cuts, no fade outs or different camera angles used to progress the action from scene to scene. We have nearly 5 full minutes of ONE Point of View of ONE camera moving thru a myriad of different situations, ie the launch hanger, asteroids, death star

  • maybe someone can answer a burning question Ive had for the last 20 years...WHAT THE F*** IS JOHNNY 5 DOING ON A STAR WARS RIDE?

  • the robot shoudn't be afarid of darth vader's ship. its because, anakin still has good inside him.

  • You can feel it?

  • That wasn't expressed much in Episode IV. I believe he choked someone because he disagreed in the force. I would be afraid if I was on Darthie's ship.

  • i love that

  • when i rode this i had to hold my head in place

  • i <3 this ride but for some reason i always end up sitting next to someone who screams their head off...

  • I just got back from there on sunday. Very fun.

  • I hate you. XD Naw, I'm glad you had fun.

  • A very awesome ride. And i like the Safety Instructions too. Hillarious.

  • This is a very awsome ride. Just a shame that it doesn't take so long

  • Yes, the ride originally opened at Disneyland in 1986.

  • to the guy below me... this ride is at disneyland too

  • You mean disney world!?!? Anywho...we never got to endore...WE WANT OUR CREDITS BACK. =D

  • I luv this ride i road it like 90 times ( Not really that many times )

  • I love this ride!

  • thanks for the upload, I can remember the 2 1/2 hours it took in the summer of 98. Too bad Disey destroyed america sings to do it.

  • i love this rideee <3 its best when u sit in the very back though when your feet don't touch the floor =P more exciting <3

  • Oh yeah... the back corner is where the action is!

  • This is why you should NEVER EVER hire a robot to control a flying machine!!

  • Especially one that just came from the factory and wasn't installed properly! :)

  • This ride is one of my favorites in Disneyland.

  • i've been there to, it was realy cool!

  • haha that ride was uber sexy

  • very amusing ride

  • I remember this ride on my first visit to the USA back in 1988, we had to queue for nearly 2 hours !! Is it really nearly 20 years old ?? And still so popular.

  • Yeah, kinda mind blowing isn't it? We rode it not long after it opened, right after Xmas. We waited about that long but it was worth it. And it still kicks butt! :)

  • Sure does ! Seem to remember "Captain EO" with Michael Jackson being popular there too !! Star Tours was deffo my fave....rode it in LA, Orlando & Paris...think I'll give Tokyo a miss !!! Have an awesome New Year

  • Oh, I'd love to go to Tokyo DL. Someday. You have a great year, too! :)

  • how many times is it going to be his first flight every year i go there its his first flight! XD

  • Shhhhh! I don't think he realizes he's on a loop! :D

  • Great Video, thanks for posting. The ride is much better as you feel the motion and acceleration, but a good video anyways.

  • that's my favorite ride next to space mountain

  • i rode this at Disneyland a long time ago. Excellent cap/post!!! thanks

  • You don't have to watch it if you don't want to have it spoiled. But as a piece of nostalgia for those who have been on the ride, it's very welcome.

  • way to sulley the experience of the best ride ever! What kind of low life records disneyland rides and posts them on youtube????

  • Apparently there are a lot of us "low lifes". We do these videos for ourselves to quell the jones to go there every other month. We can relive the expieriance and look forward to our next visit. We put these up after discovering that others had done the same thing. I just happen to have some talent editing and the equipment to do so, so we make our little vids. Most people like them and I see it as free advertising for the park. STFU GBTW.

  • Someone who wants to share the experience with people who have never been to Disneyland and likely will not go for the foreseeable future. I taped the ride as well and am currently debating if I will post it, but since others already have, I thank them.

  • Having actually experienced the ride, this hardly does it justice, nor does it share the experience. I get why you guys do it....I guess, just surprised is all. Whatever, to each his own.

  • i love this ride it is so cool!!!!

  • Sorry, you've been misinformed. What is illegal is making money from making a video on the Park property and then selling it or portions of it. The Park allows cameras/camcorders on rides. That is implied permission to take pictures/video of said rides, as long as there are no issues with bothering other riders, affecting the machinery or copyright. Better talk to the legal Dept. again...

  • Um, yes it is illegal. I work on this ride, actually. And yes, we will tell you to stop filiming.

  • Some of the Worker Droids used to be birds in America Sings

  • i wonder what the meganism is of the lichtspeed thingy its awsome i whas in disney paris and ya its french i didnt onderstand anything

  • You idiots, this is not illegal. I have vids of all lines and queue vids - never been stopped. Perfectlly legal

  • According to Wikipedia, the update is going to be a sequel based on the prequels.

  • BEST RIDE EVER!!

  • Do they take your camera away?

  • Nope got my footage to prove it, check it out , at HBVIDEOS

  • this is illegal yes. If they had seen you shooting that footage the whole thing would have been put to stop. My sister has experienced that with someone else filming. They have surveilance cams inside that thing.

  • Probably had a light on. They can see that.

  • Wow thats A load of crap, I have filmed this like 7 or 8 times . We even filmed this back in the 80s with A big ass VHS camera. I plan n tapeing it again when I get A better camera. I did get yelled at for tapeing the Back to The Future ride and Sorring over CA. But they never tok my camera or tapes. I have Sorring Over Ca in my videos. Check it out. We taped it 3 times that day. They only said something the last time we taped it.

  • probaly some non-official dumb site. dont worry yourself too much about it... I live right next to him so maybe I'll ask him tomorrow.

  • aww i miss disneyland! i have got to go back!

  • Back To The Future is better!

  • I've never had the pleasure of riding it, but I'd like to. I'd also like to go on the Spiderman ride at Orlando Universal.

  • I hope they keep Pee-wee's voice if they update it.

  • The voice of the pilot Rex is provided by Paul "Pee-Wee Herman" Reubens. "I'm itching! I wanna go home!" "You may go stand in the corner until you can _talk_ like a little boy!" - "Overboard"

  • No it isnt. It's just a rumour. Look it up.

  • I did look it up, and it says it's not a rumor. Where did you hear it was?

  • i was on there yesterday!

  • I hear they're updating the ride or something.

  • That's what I hear, too. Perhaps we'll be able to go to Hoth or Tattoine!

  • And maybe Rex will be back!

  • star tours is one of my favourate rides

  • Yeah I've been on this a billion times. If you're a fan of the film, this ride is a must.

  • its wierd hearing Rex speaking english. Im so used to the French one!

  • so am i ! :S

  • Well, there indeed is a "Johnny 5" from Short circuit in there, but his name is "G-3 5LE".

    http://www.swstartours.net/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=43&Itemid=43

The G2 droids are indeed gooses from America Sings.

  • Great!

  • Yes they don't like cameras on this ride. But, hey I did it carefully (so the camcorder didn't fly off and hit someone) and I think that this kind of video on this kind of site makes people want to go ride the real thing more often. This is a edited combination of about 5 passes through the ride over 3 or 4 years. I have shot all the rides and am editing together a ride through of each. We do this to quell the Jones for Disneyland between visits. I'm yuga's husband.

  • I'm scared to ride it now becayse I wanna show people what the ride is like too.

  • Aren't cameras not allowed?

Star Tours was a really nice concept. This ride was really cool back in the day... the lines were soo long back then.

  • u can video tape but not take pictures

  • no u cant. u cant take any photgraphy wat so ever

  • Apparently you can, because we have several shoots of this and every other ride in the Park. You just have to know how to be discreet... and no flash pictures, please ;)

  • It's allowed as long as you don't use any flash or bright lights. They ruin some of the illiusions and can be just plain annoying

  • ah cool! it really looks like johnny 5 ah well thanx cool vid, i love this ride!

  • Actually, that is supposed to be a repair droid... nothing to do with Short Circuit. It's an old AA from America Sings; used to be a goose but they took the "skin" off and that's what is underneath.

  • i know its all filmed in the ride, but when your waiting in line you see like c3po, r2d2 and then you see johnny 5 who is from short circuit

  • its also got bits from short circuit hasn;t it?

  • Nope... it's all filmed in the ride.

  • I told all the star wars fans bout this on the forums so you may notice a rather large amount of new visitors

  • Ive been looking for this, thank you! :D

  • I have been on this several times - Great ride - wonderful idea to film the ride too.
