Silly person ...if u knew ur guitar history, u wud know that Chet had huge admiration for Tommy ....Tommy's style embodies all of Chet and Merle (Travis) and takes it a little further. Tommy is a truly great ambassador to the legacy of Chet .... if there is a heaven, I'm sure Chet is beaming down with pride !

u heard me. one he admired in a whole other way is knopfler. he didnt admire tommy like that. i know the history and more. and i know what tommy is compared to chet and that aint much. talent is one thing to perform is another. think about that style and beyond and understand it. lol
new zealand has the haka and australia has waltzing matilda! lmao... i hate this song when jonh williamson sings it at the rugby, but tommy does it better.. omg i think its grown on me lmao
This song is about a spirit of Freedom and never giving in to oppressive regimes. A "matilda" was the name given to a swagman's kit (his swag or bedroll, billy and tucker bag) and "waltzing" was the slang name for walking around the country looking for work. A swagman was independent and it is our love of independence and support for others that characterises Aussies.
Because so many Austrailians were murdered in Bali by a radical Islamic group. This is the Austrailian National Anthem performed to pay tribute to the Aussies killed.
because its about a guy stealing a sheep. and its a traditional folk song. i wouldnt mind it to be our national anthem, but it sorta is glorifying criminals, or thats how the politicians would argue it though.
if i die before he does, i want him to play this at my funeral.

He he, I think Tommy's tie may have been a bit 'happy' for this occasion. :D

@Listirine No, it wasn't happy. It sounded proud...

Tommy really held back on the fancy picking for this event, but he's great nonetheless.
StumptownBoy 2 years ago
how the hell does he play the chords and the vocal line on the guitar at the same time
paulio2293 2 years ago
@paulio2293 Practice, I guess. He's really good.

I'm a little confused how this song fits the occasion (a memorial service)...can anyone shed light on why this song would fit the occasion?
geetarguy531 4 years ago
this is a happy australian song, better to be happy people had lived at a funeral rather than sad that they died right?

I'm pretty sure it's waltzing MATILDA not MatHilda.. whatever though, i could be wrong as well.
