JWS, think hard bout this: Jesus had 2 b called the son of god cuz if he just came and said he was god, he would have been killed right away and not have a chance for 33 yrs. even though he tried to conceal being god, the jews, thomas ("my lord & my god" john 20:28), all knew who he was. thats y he was killed.

Just a loving reminder we are suppose to "DO ALL THINGS FOR GOD'S GLORY" friends. We have people like my unbelieving mate I would like to share this footage with to show a encouraging example of a sisters choice to serve Jehovah (he's into music). But if we post what seems as arguements we don't make the truth shine and no one can share the clip w/ a study who may identify w/ her. We all are imperfect I know, but we keep trying to do better right? Love all.
If I were her, I would change the date of my first performance in theocratic school. Maybe as a non-baptized person shy didn't know about that possibility... But the most important thing in this case is the fact that she doesn't regret her decision. Wonderful performance!

The experience in that book, yb08-e p 58 is beautiful, i loved to read it, from almost being too famous and then go from that to believe something else is amazing. That must have felt really good fot her! Go girl, keep on like you do now. Your sister..

I must agree with Dnakerma. I know the practices of jehovah's witnesses, and this whole public congrats thing is a bit extreme. Don't get me wrong she did the right thing but i think that the support given to her should be done in a different manner. Besides, these comments might not ever make it to her since this is not her page.
Later, a TV reporter attended the district convention to film the convention and baptism and recognized Helgi. He filmed her baptism and then interviewed her. That evening it was on the news, which included a clip of her performing at an early level of the competition and concluded with her baptism and her saying with a beaming smile, "this is the best decision of my life."
A photo of her giving a talk in the Ministry School is in the Yearbook!
she entered a nationwide singing competition and won the immediate support of the judges (I think that was the clip we saw)...and advanced to the next round. the next event was to be held at the same time as her first talk...she chose to give her talk.
Helgi is 17, living separately from her divorced parents...showed interest in the truth and studied but missed many meetings because she was singing in a local band....as her appreciation grew she told band members why she could not entertain meeting nites (which implies she may have entertained on NON-meeting nites)....she joined the Ministry School and became an unbaptized publisher.
Go Helgi, Jehovah should be all of our first priorities in our lives!!!! "Keeping our eye on the prize," is the ONLY way to go! You do have a pretty voice. I wonder is Helgi a "servant" of Jehovah or is she just studying? I'd really like to know!

Chimp asked more than once "why would she audition in the first place?" My answer is, why not? She is not sinning against her Creator.Helgi made the decision to put Jehovah FIRST in her life. That doesn't mean she has to stop singing.Would you suggest she just sing in the shower?I doubt that would make her happy.Prince, George Benson,and Larry Graham (whose experience was in the Awake)have chosen to continue to perform while being selective in their songs and the amount of time they tour.

Jesus could have been the world's best carpenter or whoever he wanted to be. He could have been a prestigious man in the world. He was better than any man on earth. However, he chose to suffer temporarily to gain something much greater and Helgi you have imitated that great example. May Jehovah bless your efforts. Your experience is really inspiring to me because i am a musician and the temptation to be famous is there but we got to keep focused on what really matters. Thanks!
Fame is relative to its decedent. consider the source. True fame is nothing compared to God's glory. Working to serve him is the highest of honors. I'm not a JW, but I might become one someday. If I can break my old habits, of course. Knowing the truth is only half the battle. Applying and maintaining it presents the most difficulty.
well like Luke 13:24 states " Exert yourselves vigorously to get in through the narrow door, because many I tell you will seek to get in but will not be able" I found out a while back that Exert yourselves vigorously is an originally greek term that means "Be struggling" so in order to gain something in the end, we have to struggle. There are so many brothers and sisters that have amazing talent, but they sacrifice it for Jehovah. Just a loving reminder we are suppose to "DO ALL THINGS FOR GOD'S GLORY" friends. We have people like my unbelieving mate I would like to share this footage with to show a encouraging example of a sisters choice to serve Jehovah (he's into music). But if we post what seems as arguements we don't make the truth shine and no one can share the clip w/ a study who may identify w/ her. We all are imperfect I know, but we keep trying to do better right? Love all.

If I were her, I would change the date of my first performance in theocratic school. Maybe as a non-baptized person shy didn't know about that possibility... But the most important thing in this case is the fact that she doesn't regret her decision. Wonderful performance!

Helgi's edifying example was written in our yearbook 2008.Mayby you're not aware of the fact that more than six million copies of this book have been published by now. Isn't it the kind of bringing attention to her?? At the same time only 105748 viewers watched his performance on Youtube.
First think before you write something which doesn't make any sense.And expand your horizons :)

Jehovah's witnesses right? hmmm... who watches you tube? oh thats right, the rest of the world. lislesta, your completely right. and plusmatthias theres also lots of other experiences in that book (i'm studying the bible) so the attention isn't going directly to one person, thats not the point of the book. its to stimulate our spirituality through WHAT THEY DID. oh and another thing, don't wish her LUCK. I think you should study more.

When you say "..as far as WE know..", you state that Every Jehovah's Witness agrees Your point of view. Please Do Not Use Word We ,or atleast, use it VERY CAREFULLY. Ofcourse, there is nothing wrong ITSELF saying good about somebody... But where to say and HOW to say it, might cause unwanted results.

The experience in that book, yb08-e p 58 is beautiful, i loved to read it, from almost being too famous and then go from that to believe something else is amazing. That must have felt really good fot her! Go girl, keep on like you do now. Your sister..

I must agree with Dnakerma. I know the practices of jehovah's witnesses, and this whole public congrats thing is a bit extreme. Don't get me wrong she did the right thing but i think that the support given to her should be done in a different manner. Besides, these comments might not ever make it to her since this is not her page.

Helgi is 17, living separately from her divorced parents...showed interest in the truth and studied but missed many meetings because she was singing in a local band....as her appreciation grew she told band members why she could not entertain meeting nites (which implies she may have entertained on NON-meeting nites)....she joined the Ministry School and became an unbaptized publisher.

Chimp asked more than once "why would she audition in the first place?" My answer is, why not? She is not sinning against her Creator.Helgi made the decision to put Jehovah FIRST in her life. That doesn't mean she has to stop singing.Would you suggest she just sing in the shower?I doubt that would make her happy.Prince, George Benson,and Larry Graham (whose experience was in the Awake)have chosen to continue to perform while being selective in their songs and the amount of time they tour.

Jesus could have been the world's best carpenter or whoever he wanted to be. He could have been a prestigious man in the world. He was better than any man on earth. However, he chose to suffer temporarily to gain something much greater and Helgi you have imitated that great example. May Jehovah bless your efforts. Your experience is really inspiring to me because i am a musician and the temptation to be famous is there but we got to keep focused on what really matters. Thanks!

Fame is relative to its decedent. consider the source. True fame is nothing compared to God's glory. Working to serve him is the highest of honors. I'm not a JW, but I might become one someday. If I can break my old habits, of course. Knowing the truth is only half the battle. Applying and maintaining it presents the most difficulty.

well like Luke 13:24 states " Exert yourselves vigorously to get in through the narrow door, because many I tell you will seek to get in but will not be able" I found out a while back that Exert yourselves vigorously is an originally greek term that means "Be struggling" so in order to gain something in the end, we have to struggle. There are so many brothers and sisters that have amazing talent, but they sacrifice it for Jehovah.
