Personally i have no problem with Revan losing but after Kreia said herself that Revan was "power" and "like starring into the heart of the force" makes the idea of him being defeated farfetched. But still acceptable(P.S i haven't read the book i'm going by what i saw and heard in the MMO)
Sad to hear Carth isn't featured in the novel. I know its Revan's story and all. Nonetheless, given how close the two characters got over KOTOR, I thought the least the writer could've done is give Onasi a brief cameo of some sort.
@FellFather I didn't need to see him, and I understand that his name wouldn't have come up for consideration on a mission that would possibly end with the Mandalorians gaining more power/organization so Revan and Canderous wouldn't have thought of bringing him along, but he could have been mentioned all the same.
Great review guys, one thing though, I don't think that scourge did what he did because he saw no option to win the fight, he definetely saw a vision of them destroying the emperor, but it was his natural paranoid nature and his sith instict to look after himself more than others which drove his decision. I also thought while reading the book that it would make a great film, especially with good music.
@MasterRancisis Well, it did seem to me that the book suggested that one option was perhaps more viable than the other at least in Scourge's mind. But what you said certainly played into his decision.
Agreed people see Sith as potential killers and also power hungry but they have to also see what they have done to the order and what makes them a mark through out the SW
I agree that revan isn't about being unstopable and beating everyone. However revan is up there as intended by the writers as a top force user on par with exar kun, mace windu, yoda and luke skywalker. Kotor 2 also brings up an intresting point that over the millenia the sith/jedi have gotten less skilled in combat and even the force so perhaps the further closer to A new hope you get the weaker force users get an interesting thought.
@DisruptiveMonkey Yeah, I agree with you, but I'm not one of those who's offended by the idea of him losing. You will find many people who staunchly believe that Revan is untouchable.
@DisruptiveMonkey That's a lie. Weaker force users? What about Darth Sidious, Dark Krayt and the Rest of the One Sith, what about Anakin Skywalker who should more force potential than any in history. That thought fails.
@wintersnoob It's not a lie at all play kotor 2 and when you're on korriban kreia talks about how the skills with weaponry and the force of the ancient sith were on a tier far beyond the current powers. It would make sense to a degree that over the years up till new hope the sith become far less common due to internal fighting and then the rule of two. I'm not saying that those sith aren't powerful just that they may be weaker then thier sith ancestors---
@wintersnoob Palpatine for all his power was unable to learn his master darth plagueis mastery over life itself showing his powers had limits. I would say their are quite a few who showed more power in the force then anakin including both his son luke and his grandson anakin solo plenty of sith revan, exar kun, darth krayt. He certainly had portential but after becoming vadar his injuries prevented him from--
I agree there is a lot of Star Wars fans who think they know everything about Star Wars and they just go off saying "Oh this guy way cooler and more powerful than this guy." And saying all this crap, I mean there not even real fans to just think Star Wars is cool because people kill people I mean that just not the point of Star Wars.
Good points made all around. I think Revan was very powerful, intelligent, and masterful in dueling, but the Emperor (as you guys mentioned) WAS alive and well during the time of Marka Ragnos, Naga Sadow, and Ludo Kressh. He obviously knew Sith magics and Alchemy that no one in the galaxy thought still existed. I think people may be complaining because the book was mostly propaganda for the MMO (disguised as Revan's post KOTOR story) and because the ending felt rushed...
One small nick-pick, they never refer to Scourge as "Darth" in the novel. In the game, they make it clear that "Lord" and "Darth" are two separate titles.
@yarealpoof Yeah, I really had the same thoughts as you guys did about the book and like you I think most Revan fans are getting their panties in a wad over nothing. But, on the question of the difference between what Darth Nihilus and Emperor Vitiate did is that, Nihilus was a "wound" in the Force and his need to drain the life essence form beings was something he could not control. What Vitiate did was more like what Exar Kun tried to do in making a ritual that would allow him to..
@yarealpoof .....sacrifice his followers and make him immortal. Although Vitiate did it correctly and on a much larger scale. The Exile even remarks after landing on Vitiate's home world, that she remembered what it felt like to be cut off from the Force, but what Vitiate had done was worst that that.

@wintersnoob becoming the worst sith ever seen. my opinion is well thought out and based on stuff within the EU so IMO the thought doesn't fail.
