they realize that there are other elements that could combine to create life (silicon based for instance) however water is the only one we are sure of.
As life evolves in any tempurature, the entity will obviously be able to sustain that tempurature. We even see this here on Earth with polar bears able to sustain extremely cold temps and in the water for extended periods of time, to cactus plants that need little water to survive in extremely hot climate. This would likely be the same in other planets as well. It shouldn't be any surprise to find life in temps of consistant +200 degres to -200 degrees if evolution has its time to do so.
i hate how these people assume water is a necessity when it comes to life. Just because its what helped life come about on earth, it doesn't mean that life can't come from other elements.
@terra61 umm..sorry to break it to ya..but our bodies are 60-70% made up of water..even lacking 30% our bodies would either adapt and evolve or die off..water has everything to do with existence in our planet..everything
of course 'our' bodies are 60-70% made up of water, because we evolved on a planet where water is everywhere therefor our bodies use it. if there was another planet which had a different liquid, then the planets creatures would be 60-70% of that.
@terra61 its not a necessity, its just far more likely to find a carbon-based life that thrives on water rather than anything else for two simple reasons: 1. Hydrogen, oxygen and carbon (excluding helium because its chemically inert) are the most abundant elements in the universe. 2. Carbon is the most chemically active element. So something like a silicon-based life wouldn't be as nearly complex as carbon. If life is out there elsewhere, it still is restricted by Physical and Chemical Laws.

Is there life out there? Yes, there are billions of angels and other creatures created by Lord our God, and they live in peaceful worlds without sin, death, or evil. It's only this world that is a quarantined piece of rock infected by sin. Soon when every human decides whether to worship God or Lucifer, then Jesus will come, take his people and destroy the rest, making the universe free of sin.

If you don't want to believe there is a possibility of life on other planets - don't.
But being that the shear numbers for an optimistic view are far greater than a pessimistic view, it is nearly impossible for an open-minded, intelligent individual to be convinced of anything, by a tunnel-visioned, ignorant one! But fools do try and God Love Them for it! Just smile, and nod - thats what I do!
It's no a question of WANTING to believe - or wanting not to believe. Belief is not subject to volition - you can't choose to believe what you want to believe. If someone said they'd torture then kill you if you didn't believe in Father Christmas, could you then believe? No, of course not. Even under pain of death and torture you couldn't. Oh of course you could lie,but could you truly believe? Of course not.
Well, in such a case I most likely would NOT believe in Father Christmas, unless I perceived such a character to be JESUS, but I most certainly would choose to believe that they might actually torture and kill me in such a scenario.
And yes, we do have a choice with our FREE WILL to believe in ANYTHING we want, whether it be Fairies or an impending World War which could bring about the purposeful distinction of 90% of the World's population.
Well only you know whether you think Father Christmas is Jesus or not. OK, another example. If someone says, I will give you nine million pounds, the love of your life and perfect beauty and health...and a wish come true thrown in (wow!)...IF AND ONLY IF you believe the earth is flat, could you believe this? Could you believe the earth was flat for all this? I mean truly believe it, not just say you believe it.
Though money makes the World go round and is needed now in order to live, being that pretty much every square inch of this planet is owned and under the jurisdiction of another whereby taxes need to be paid and unlawful hunting is not permitted making it essential that we work and partake in any Nation's culture and rules of law -- money, love, and a wish come true is not and will never be, anything that I could purposely delude myself into believing the World is flat for, no.
You see, you can't choose your beliefs. You can't just decide to believe in a flat earth - or in leprechauns, or ghosts or anything else - just because you WANT to. If you DO happen to believe in any of these things, you can't choose NOT to. You can choose whether to raise your left arm or your right, or neither; but your can't choose what to believe. If you happen to believe aliens MAY exist, then you are quite unable to believe they DEFINITELY exist (or definitely don't exist).
If for some reason you do not believe in Aliens and feel that you simply just can not, DESPITE, all the statistical data along with so many people's personal accounts, AND, our own Earth's historical account through hieroglyphics and ancient Sumerian writing tablets and Medieval Art all depicting that Advanced Peoples from other planets have visited our own, than you simply can't. But what you can do, is be OPEN TO THE IDEA rather than refuse to believe it because you just don't want to!
I don't understand where you get the idea that I'm a sceptic. I've actually been in ufology for a very long time. One of my constant objections is that the so-called hypotheses of the sceptics are not hypotheses at all but pseudo-explanations which only work by selecting data which fits them and ignoring data which doesnt. The issue that I raised wasn't whether there is any truth in the alien phenomenon - that's a different issue altogether - but whether you can CHOOSE your beliefs.
I believe that one can choose their beliefs, but only if a sense of TRUTH has been tossed out by them first.
If one cares little for truth, then they are free to believe whatever they want to with their 'free will' or not to.
However, if one is HONEST, than they can only believe such things that prove themselves to be true to them, regardless of whether they want to believe it or not, once presented to them.
If what you mean by 'tossing out a sense of truth' is self-deceit, well yes. I concede this point. It is certainly possible to believe in one's innermost being that something is the case, yet consciously deny to oneself that one really believes it (and the converse). Freud called it repression. Yet that deeper belief cannot simply be got rid of. It is still there. So one is simultaneously of two minds not a healthy state. Yes, thats a fair point.
Yeah, I just meant that a man can choose to believe he is 'tough' despite knowing that he does not work out gets beat easily simply by walking around wearing tough clothes and acting like he is tough, even though inwardly, he is not - he's just choosing to believe that he is.
People like me, with 'depressive realism' can't delude ourselves into believing anything but what we consider and feel to be 100% mathematical equatable fact! And THAT is something you either got in life or you don't!
You guessed it! I am completely impervious to ALL media propaganda and can in fact see through it all and even pick up underlying currents of mass media manipulation, which has contributed to my being known within some circles as being a dangerous individual, insofar, that I'm a FREE THINKER!
Hey DreamRedeemer, not to dispute or challange you, i just wanna throw in, if any intelligence is that high to travel this far via space bending or light speed, would they not provide some evidence say, Alien doo doo , pee , boogers, skin or hair droppings. Would they really hide and peek into windows like a common garden rodent? So far evidence is very weak! That`s my take. But i like your attitude anyway .Peace!
Crop Circles appeared years ago and quickly caught the attention of the Media, AND, the governments who were frantic for a way to cover them up - so they hired people to FAKE SOME and then purposely lead the World into believing that they were ALL fake, and voila - problem solved.
HOWEVER, there is a crazy difference between the FAKE ones and the REAL ones - and the real ones, can NOT be faked especially by mere people, on the ground, and in only ONE NIGHT!
What I am to understand is that we come here to see life from many different angles in order to learn to love everyone and everything unconditionally, which is what God is, one who transcends all religions and peoples and loves no matter what.
He is like the parent who loves their child even after they draw with crayons all over the wall.
I don't think you can see God, I think humans are the ones who tried to make God in their image. I think God is in everything you see and everything you touch, like a life force or energy. I think he created everything.
What we have to realise is that we are as humans inquisitive of nature. When we discover one aspect of life, we unfold another. In this sense we will never find the TRUE answer, we will just continue to evolve and question life.
radio transmissions might not even be used by certain life in the universe, so the lack of these radio transmissions might mean that other civilizations may have never achieved a single radio transmission because their technology is so different from ours , they might have a much more advanced way to communicate (telepathy for example), or that they are so far away it will take many many years before a single transmission could reach us.
What if the orbit is at such an angle where the planet won't pass in front of the star? what if the planets are spinning around the sun like the ands of a clock? then the wink-hunt would be kinda useless.... no?
I know what you mean, that the planet will orbit the star upside down, yes, but the star will wobble in this case also, so we can detect the planet. They developed other methods too, like to measure the disturbing of the extra-solar-system outer dust region, or a Quipper like zone, where a planet can change the dust's persentage when passes by, like our Pluto or Neptune does. There is also a third method that I don't remember.
Kepler will not begin feedback of results to earth until June 18th, still they do not expect to discover small "earthlike" rock planets earlier than a couple years from now.
Are we alone in the universe?are we the only intelligent species in the universe? These questions have already been answered in 1947 in Roswell New Mexico when alien bodies and pieces of debris from the alien craft have been recovered as well as the numerous sightings about UFO's some of which were reported by credible witnesses such as pilots and those in the military...
i have digital cable, i still think the uk has better television, besides battlestar galactica, which is the best show ever... and yeah, arizona has nice weather for 9 months out of the year, but it's in the 100s for 3 months. believe me working on f-16s in that weather is not fun!
yeah that was a joke while i think that some of their programs a quite intresting i wouldn't go off and say that they had the best or if i did put the qualifier "in my opinion"
f-16's NICE : P
do you fly at all?? not them in particular but any aircraft
What if that's 10000 spread out over 100 million years. With each species at a different level of evolution. The youngest might be the level of intelligence of dinosaurs the oldest might be of a godlike status. And everything inbetween. The youngest can't talk the oldest might not wan't to. Modern humans have been around 100000 years if an alien species was only 1% younger then us in technology that would still put them at the level we were at in the dark ages.
In the future there are twelve known 'Earth similiar planets' in a galactic orbit similiar to our own. These are called, 'the string of pearls.' Earth like planets are true G.E.M.S and much more rare than ever imagined. We should take care of our own.
how do we know that some new way of life exist on some other planet that is capable to survive other conditions that for us people it looks impossible. maybe they have thei own immune system that is trained so survive that circumstances!
Watching this video, can we humans finally appreciate our lives and existance? Instead there is so much hate in this world with religions and cultures. When will we finally learn- or can we only learn when this Earth gets engulfed by our own Sun, of whom you call your God. Where it will be too late, to learn. Too late to realise, of all your efforts for revenge, all the suffering.. leads to the inevitable extinction of all the Human Race, and Zero nothingless. Your Gods, will not save you.
Hi marsL001 I have taken Pt 2 away and putting it back after Pt 3 then it will run in order. I bet when I've finished messing around with this one the other 2 video's turn up. Great fun!!!

John: Hey Bill, remember that old dead planet Earth?
Bill: Ya, I watched it collapse through my telescope last night.
John: Well i'm glade we where able to build a spacecraft to fly us to Gliese 581g.
Bill: I agree. (Thoughts) I think this is gonna turn out like that ancient movie, Avatar.

DreamRedeemer 2 years ago
I don't understand where you get the idea that I'm a sceptic. I've actually been in ufology for a very long time. One of my constant objections is that the so-called hypotheses of the sceptics are not hypotheses at all but pseudo-explanations which only work by selecting data which fits them and ignoring data which doesnt. The issue that I raised wasn't whether there is any truth in the alien phenomenon - that's a different issue altogether - but whether you can CHOOSE your beliefs.
archdeaconj 2 years ago
I believe that one can choose their beliefs, but only if a sense of TRUTH has been tossed out by them first.
If one cares little for truth, then they are free to believe whatever they want to with their 'free will' or not to.
However, if one is HONEST, than they can only believe such things that prove themselves to be true to them, regardless of whether they want to believe it or not, once presented to them.
DreamRedeemer 2 years ago
If what you mean by 'tossing out a sense of truth' is self-deceit, well yes. I concede this point. It is certainly possible to believe in one's innermost being that something is the case, yet consciously deny to oneself that one really believes it (and the converse). Freud called it repression. Yet that deeper belief cannot simply be got rid of. It is still there. So one is simultaneously of two minds not a healthy state. Yes, thats a fair point.
archdeaconj 2 years ago
Yeah, I just meant that a man can choose to believe he is 'tough' despite knowing that he does not work out gets beat easily simply by walking around wearing tough clothes and acting like he is tough, even though inwardly, he is not - he's just choosing to believe that he is.
People like me, with 'depressive realism' can't delude ourselves into believing anything but what we consider and feel to be 100% mathematical equatable fact! And THAT is something you either got in life or you don't!
DreamRedeemer 2 years ago
You sound like your fairly impervious to media propaganda, which is always a good thing. Depressive realisim or healthy pessimism?
archdeaconj 2 years ago
You guessed it! I am completely impervious to ALL media propaganda and can in fact see through it all and even pick up underlying currents of mass media manipulation, which has contributed to my being known within some circles as being a dangerous individual, insofar, that I'm a FREE THINKER!
DreamRedeemer 2 years ago
Hey DreamRedeemer, not to dispute or challange you, i just wanna throw in, if any intelligence is that high to travel this far via space bending or light speed, would they not provide some evidence say, Alien doo doo , pee , boogers, skin or hair droppings. Would they really hide and peek into windows like a common garden rodent? So far evidence is very weak! That`s my take. But i like your attitude anyway .Peace!
Popalongkid 2 years ago
They're called CROP CIRCLES!

"We don't know how life got started on Earth"...
THERE YOU GO!! Then why do they think that finding Earth-like planets with water on them automatically means life?
Slacktoo 2 years ago
Because if planet will be earth like with water it is allmoust immposible to dont have life on it!
Fjedja 2 years ago
i think its because water is a first priority for life to exist.
if life does exist or not,who knows, but without water it simply cant.

Why do we live here on earth?
I don't care but why?
Why is there a Universe, What is it?
Is there an End?
PaudinsDrawings 2 years ago
Maybe we are here on earth so we can learn to love and get along with each other.
Frogstomp121 2 years ago
Yeah love is better than killing each Other.
But why are why learning that.
PaudinsDrawings 2 years ago
What I am to understand is that we come here to see life from many different angles in order to learn to love everyone and everything unconditionally, which is what God is, one who transcends all religions and peoples and loves no matter what.
He is like the parent who loves their child even after they draw with crayons all over the wall.
Frogstomp121 2 years ago
theres no god. I dont believe in him.
Nobody Created us
PaudinsDrawings 2 years ago
How can you be so sure? Is this coming from research or just looking at the world around you and giving up?
Frogstomp121 2 years ago
Okay tell me how he look like.
Is he 10 meter tall?
Is god a Human?
Where does he live.
PaudinsDrawings 2 years ago
I don't think you can see God, I think humans are the ones who tried to make God in their image. I think God is in everything you see and everything you touch, like a life force or energy. I think he created everything.
Frogstomp121 2 years ago
Because we got a sun and moon everything became to life on Earth.
Its a wonder.
Other Planets dont have an airRing and no sun or Moon. Maybe planets, lightyears away got that. So there can be life on other planets
All because of that we life here on earth

Frogstomp121 2 years ago
What we have to realise is that we are as humans inquisitive of nature. When we discover one aspect of life, we unfold another. In this sense we will never find the TRUE answer, we will just continue to evolve and question life.

radio transmissions might not even be used by certain life in the universe, so the lack of these radio transmissions might mean that other civilizations may have never achieved a single radio transmission because their technology is so different from ours , they might have a much more advanced way to communicate (telepathy for example), or that they are so far away it will take many many years before a single transmission could reach us.

What if the orbit is at such an angle where the planet won't pass in front of the star? what if the planets are spinning around the sun like the ands of a clock? then the wink-hunt would be kinda useless.... no?
videomissionary 2 years ago
I know what you mean, that the planet will orbit the star upside down, yes, but the star will wobble in this case also, so we can detect the planet. They developed other methods too, like to measure the disturbing of the extra-solar-system outer dust region, or a Quipper like zone, where a planet can change the dust's persentage when passes by, like our Pluto or Neptune does. There is also a third method that I don't remember.
hrbear 2 years ago
true, seems we/they have to be very lucky to find such a wink

rjdaredevil 2 years ago
Kepler will not begin feedback of results to earth until June 18th, still they do not expect to discover small "earthlike" rock planets earlier than a couple years from now.

Are we alone in the universe?are we the only intelligent species in the universe? These questions have already been answered in 1947 in Roswell New Mexico when alien bodies and pieces of debris from the alien craft have been recovered as well as the numerous sightings about UFO's some of which were reported by credible witnesses such as pilots and those in the military...

What if that's 10000 spread out over 100 million years. With each species at a different level of evolution. The youngest might be the level of intelligence of dinosaurs the oldest might be of a godlike status. And everything inbetween. The youngest can't talk the oldest might not wan't to. Modern humans have been around 100000 years if an alien species was only 1% younger then us in technology that would still put them at the level we were at in the dark ages.
poodtang1 2 years ago
In the future there are twelve known 'Earth similiar planets' in a galactic orbit similiar to our own. These are called, 'the string of pearls.' Earth like planets are true G.E.M.S and much more rare than ever imagined. We should take care of our own.

Gotta love the BBC. Payed for by the people, not the organisations. They have much more freedom to broadcast what they like that way.
Horizon and Panorama in particular are fantastic shows, documentaries that can't get any better.
