As long as people want CHEAP pure breeds, puppy mills will exist. As long as people eat cheap beef and chicken, these farm animals will be tortured and abused for dinner. See Peta dot org.

the purebread arn't cheap at all. they range from around 400 to 1,000 dollars!

$400 to $1,000 is cheap. They should cost much more. Our accidental litter of 11 puppies kept the two of us (and the momma) busy 16 or more hours a day each. At $8 an hour, no overtime, no benefits, under the table, it's alot to give excellent cageless care for pups. That cost is $1400 at $8 an hour for salary alone for 8 pups to two adults eight weeks. Add a little for food, bedding, toys, inside home and vet as well. How about care for momma before and after birth?

It isn't enough to feel sorry. Push your local representative to action. Make regular inspections pet stores mandatory. They should be made to divulge the source of their animals. Trace back to the breeders and if they are found to be puppymills...STIFF sentencing and afterwards, 10 years of probation and inspections to make sure they don't get involved again. Stop the mills, or you will NEVER have an end to poor miserale dogs and puppies. THE AMISH ARE SOME OF THE WORST OFFENDERS.

thank you very much! i live in Amish country and there are puppymills everywhere!! i looked at about 4 of these videos and not once does it mention Ohio! Holmes County where i live, where there is tons of Amish, has 500 linsensed kennels just in the lil county!!!!

What state? I live in Amish counrty in Ohio. I would like an address so I could go see this puppy mill. I work with the Amish and I am sure that I could actually go visit the farm where you say you hear a puppy mill operates. It seems that no one has offered any names or locations but only allegations.

If you look at any videos about dog auctions, 90% of the people you see there buying dogs are Amish. Mostly in PA, but also in Ohio and other states. It's not only Amish, but they are a huge part of this nightmare. They truly don't care about animal welfare, as it's not part of their belief system. To them, they are only commodities to use for money. They think nothing of shooting or hanging a dog that is no longer making them money. It's a sick business and it needs to end NOW.

Actually the US congress got a bill through that Bush signed to crack down on anyone who fights dogs and such. They are working on some of those issues.
