u should put a snack or somthing for them to eat over the side pool. or put small fishes inside pool. or get some lettuce for them to munch on. on side pool like when they grab the grass.

@MrMw2nolife Well, I'm not sure if it was an owl that killed them, a hawk, a racoon, dogs, or cats... I would find their bloody bodies, sometimes headless, in the yard. I assumed it was some kind of predator.

Theyre too big and heavy and their wings are too small for them to fly away- Otherwise I think they would have flown south for the winter. LOL

poor ducks. were they ducklings? were they white crested ducks?

They were my white pekin ducks (not crested) and they were only a couple of months old.

The mistake I made was letting them go out of the barn early in the morning before sunrise. That's when the owl killed them. Since then, I only let them go out after the sun has risen and I put them away in the evening before the sun sets. And so far... Knock on wood... No more casualties:)
